The cool thing I like about using any microphone to capture an acoustic guitar is because you can easily get rid of a lot of extra low and and emphasize on the high notes.

I’ve used this same setup with a classical guitar and it sounds really good. Beautiful tone

I only use the audio recorder for vocals but I’m definitely guilty of turning the input up way too high oftentimes

It’s easy enough to do! Hopefully this shows you why it’s important to dial the sucker down!

So is this Mic strictly for studio/desktop use even though you can plug it into an iPhone or an iPad? What if you wanted to record while you were busking; what would you use? Would you need to different Mic’s? What kind of mic stand would you use if you were out busking? By the way how did that new PA portable work out for you?

Hey Mike. So yes, I use this mic for studio recording mostly though you could also use it for recording anything.
The only issue is that it doesn’t have its own input gain control, so if you use it with something like the camera app, you get too much volume and it easily clips.
I am about to start putting the Samson portable PA to the test, but the few times I have used it, it has worked really well.

Hi, i’m getting really lost. I need expert’s points of view. My need is to record (audio and video) singing and playing acoustic guitar, with my iPad Air 4. I used a Shure MV88 connected to the lightning connector of my previous iPad Air 2. I can’t use this microphone anymore cause my new iPad is now equipped with an USB C connector.
I’m looking for a simple but efficient solution as the one I had before.
Could you give me 2 or 3 best microphones able to do that. Many thanks. Alain
By the way my budget is less than 150€.

I just bought the mic... using it to Open Mic Zoom Meetings but the guitar sounds like it through a Phaze shifter?... any fix?

Hey there. Haven’t had this experience personally sorry not sure?

Excellent points, Pete. I wonder what this would have sounded like coming in straight from the guitar through the Steinberg? I doubt it would be any better but you could have easily brought in effects. What do you think? Of course, it depends upon what you're going for but if that sound you got there is what you wanted, direct in or use the mic to record?

I think you’ve given me a good idea here? What about a shoutout between a direct connection with virtual amp and a real amp?

@@PeteJohnsMusic Just a quick glance at the many choices I have with Bias FX or Jamup Pro with even more choices when you add Bias Amp 2 the results are endless. You've shown a great way to get a straight acoustic sound into GB very simply but you know musicians, they're not going to be satisfied with that. Direct in or mic an amp for an electric guitar could be Round 2 of the shoot out. I love these guitar effects apps. As well as the above, I also use Amp ONE and Tonebridge. The GB built in effects are another good choice. Hey, there is Round 3! Oh no, then do I go with my strat, tele or ES335? Round 4. ; )

If you like acoustic guitar buy a Taylor not an Ovation, and look for mic reviews by serious musicians or sound engineers. No offense to this guy just doest seem like his 𝆑

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  5 років тому +4

No offence taken! My audience is mostly folks who may not have the best gear or the money to kit out a professional studio, but still want to record their own music. I love my Taylor too, but not everyone has $1,000+ for a guitar and that’s cool too. Make the best music you can with what you have I say.
      Thanks for watching.

@@PeteJohnsMusic Pete, thanks very much for the info. Sounded great and really helped me get going. And yes, make music with what you got! Your guitar sounded just fine!
