I always said that to darrell's ears, it probably sounded just right, but taken to account that his hearing was probably very damaged, we aren't hearing what he's hearing
I definitely prefer the Jupiter. I'm sat listening through my monitors right now with my eyes closed and I can really notice how nasaly the Dimebucker is in comparison. The jupiter sounds more well-rounded overall, with a teeny weeny bit more presence to me. I still remember you playing that solo to me on Skype when you were first nailing it haha, glad to see it in a vid finally!🤘
I love the highs from the dimebucker, it really gives you that edge to your tone especially if you play through a lower gain amp. It can be quite treble heavy for a hot pickup but it sounds great imo
@@HighPriestVaticanAssasindimebag darrell did the same thing with the l500xl and tilted the pickup at angle so the heavier strings got more chunk out of the pickup

Wes your an absolute beast on the guitar man. I've been checking out your stuff for a few years now and your definitely one of the best axe slayers out there brother. Your creativity is off the chain and I appreciate you sharing.
This was an excellent video Wes! You’re extremely talented brother, I love watching you play it’s absolutely incredible! Dimebucker clearly had a fatter bass response and a super cool scooped EQ curve in the pickups overall tone and reaction to your picking and palm mutes. Your signature Jupiter rails Humbucker was definitely a bit more articulate, tighter with more midrange bite, rather than a scooped midrange feel. I actually like them both I’ve used the Dimebucker in my old Dean guitars and clearly it’s a 90’s metal bad ass were I feel the Jupiter performs that sound great but it’s also perfect for the more modern day tone too.
Yeah I like the Jupiter more for sure, way more clarity especially on the low end, you can hear all the notes clearly and their not clumped together. But the dimebucker still sounds good especially on the higher frets
I hear way more mids in the Jupiter...and BTW....I've yet to hear a better dime solo recreation than this man here! I mean DAMN...if I close my eyes I literally hear dime playing again. This is the dude I'd want to see playing in that Pantera reunion. It's a no fckin brainer IMO. Excellent dime recreation though, absolute top notch.
I got that pick up. And did it on my neck pickup. It was sounds I wanted, plus my amp was crap. So I had an emg for bridge and the dime for neck… sounds pretty bad saying it. but it worked out for me.it put the dime reverse and it got my some crazy cleans and it’s hot so not much volume drop. I can play” black label society” “bridge to cross tone on cleans. Lol this pick up is for your bridge, but try it in your neck reverse, sounds amazing for cleans, not so much other stuff. But chorus and all that it’s cool.
Dimebucker's are definitely made for dimebag. Extra muddy but made to shred. They're great i have some in my jackson. They are designed for the guitarists that ARE THE SHOW, just like dimebag was. Play the meanest crunchiest riffs known to man then follow it by the most insane solo you've ever heard. He knew exactly what he was doing when he designed these he made them for him and thats why I have them in my guitar because they're from him. RIP BROTHER
I am definitely not a modern metal guy, I’m more into Maiden and Priest but man, these Jupiter pickups sound fantastic, I have them in a Strat and an Explorer and they definitely do classic metal really really well, highly recommended
Hey wes another obsessed dime fan here and was wondering if u would do a whole video on just your dimebag guitars and the history behind them and stuff because yours are very different from all the others of the same type and year when looking at older videos or pictures seems like yours come with totally different specs may it be small things like your dimebolt having a natural dimebolt with a symmetrical headstock when normally d3s are the offset ones and the 3st was the only that seems to have the bigger symmetrical headstock and etc. Would love to see it and I know all the other fans would as well. Hope to see more of those gorgeous guitars in the future here. I dont have the money to drop on one of those in today's market but I did pick up the equivalent lately just bought the USA custom shop dime slime and the usa custom shop 1 out of 100 far beyond driven ml. Insane quality and would just live to see more usa dime guitar videos especially about all us superfans dream guitars which is literally what your collection is haha.
Sick tone Wes. I love the chunkiness of the Dimebucker but would pick the Jupiter personally. Those squeals really do jump out with the Jupiter and the lead tone is less harsh. Awesome playing as always
Definitely a lot more mids in the Jupiter. I prefer the dimebucker outside of the rest of the mix, but add the drums and bass and the Jupiter really, really shines
I was just enjoying the riffage and went halfway thru before I realized FFS! I'm supposed to be comparing! I dunno.. everyone is saying Jupiter but I think the Dimebucker is more dynamic and sounds more appealing to my ear.
Just got a dimebucker on a used Laguna en322. Sounds pretty heavy thru a ehx metal muff with gain at 12 o'clock on my 15w monoprice tube amp. Cant wait to get a set of allen keys to properly intonate it
Sounds to me like a better tonezone or im wrong? My previous guitar had it and reminded me a lot how good is the tonezone and a all around pickup! Now im stuck into EMG 81-85 haha and im ok!👍
Dimebucker has a sharper attack to it almost too sharp. The Jupiter sounds way more versatile in my opinion. It’s got good attack but not too much, nice lows, and great mids. It also has a smoothness to it that you can def hear when compared to the dimebucker.
I wouldn't say better. Just different. I've got 3 blade pups. Bill Lawrence, dimebucker, and the Jupiter. I love them all for different reasons. The best all around pup of the three is the cheapest. The bill Lawrence. The dimebucker does, in your face metal. Period. And the Jupiter does modern metal the best. I recommend all of these pickups. They're all great.
They both sound great. Can you please tell me all of the guitar parts that Dime used? My Dad has tons of guitar pick up's and all kinds of guitar part's and I have a Shecter , ESP, Fenders and a Jackson and he said he can make them all sound amazing. He just took my Fender last night, so I'm excited to get it back, to hear the sound difference.
Question for you Wes... What distance from the strings do you use or recommend with this Jupiter? I just put mine in and love it, just curious to how you set your height.
To my ear and studio monitors, the Jupiter sound a little more refined in the highs and high-mids, with less or "tighter" low end. the dimebucker's low end sounds like it has more plume to it, but like it's a proximity effect from how you're palm muting maybe? I also noticed some like high end hair in the Jupiter mix, but its the kind I hear in distorted bass guitar, so I wonder if because the Jupiters are more clear, it allowed that frequency to come out a bit while the dimes masked it more
The Jupiter has a big sound , like Jupiter being big ! 😆😆 it’s definitely more pronounced in the mid range. You have it a big footprint to be able to be heard and felt . I def want to look into the 7 string version for either of my 2 , 7s .
From where I'm listening, the Jupiter had more detail and sounded a bit bumped around 800Hz. Not quite as beefy, though, and a tad less hot, seemingly?
Jupiter cuts better in the mix and is more balanced, overall. Dimebucker is more chunky on the low end and for Pantera riffs, at least - works a bit better in context.
