- Paul Klee is one of my favorite artists because of his playful looking art. This time I show you a number of his drawing and paintings that are interesting to paint yourself. The art element line doesn’t look that difficult but it can be used in different ways. I show you a number of ways and techniques to make your own Paul Klee style inspired paintings in this Paul Klee art lesson.

I love the playfulness you presented. It’s so delightful.
Thanks, Anita, Paul Klee's artwork helps a lot. Albert
I love playful artwork, and I really love Klee! Thank you. This was great.
Thanks, Cas. Playful is always fun. Albert
yes, I like the playfulness in his paintings !
Thanks, Lida, playfulness is a joy in art. Albert
I LOVE playful art! I recently discovered Paul Klee while teaching my second graders about art. We spent a lot of time recreating our own versions of his work. Now, I'm doing just that in my sketchbook at home. There is so much to Paul Klee to enjoy and discover! Thank you for this lovely video! :)
Thanks, Julie. It's so nice to hear you all had fun. There are a few other videos about artwork made by Paul Klee on my channel. Perhaps they give you even more new ideas. Happy painting, Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings Thank you, Albert!
I love the freedom and spontaneity of Klee’s work. Mind needs to play. Thank you for showing new ways to approach painting.
Hi Framca, thanks. Yes, Paul Klee is wonderful, I love this man. Enjoy making your own versions. Albert

Thank for your amazing videos. We look forward to watching them each week. We love your style and humor. Keep up the good work.
Hi DarkComet, thanks. I really love paul Klee, but I guess you noticed. 😁 Do you both paint as well? I would love to hear. Albert
@@ImperfectPaintingsmy wife and I enjoy painting together with acrylics and we do mixed media art projects together. I also am a lead volunteer for a painting with patients program at our local hospital, which I really enjoy.
@@darkcometadventures8801 painting together, wonderful. Thanks for your time spend as volunteer painting in the hospital. I bet a lot of people will enjoy it. Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings if you ever have a chance to highlight an abstract artist using the Ebru technique (painting on a water surface), I think that would be very interesting.
Hi DarkComet, ebru sounds interesting. I know of it but never tried it myself. I will look into this, it looks fascinating. Thanks for mentioning. Albert
Your playfulness inspires me to explore my own. Gotta go play now. Thanks so much!
Thanks, Beth, you couldn't bring a bigger compliment. Go play, please. Albert
If you happen to be looking for another artist to teach us about, would like to request a series about painting like Lyonel Feininger.
Thanks, Beth, for your suggestion. But his level of technique and use of color is way beyond mine. I bowed to him or for him because I love what he did. Anyway, thanks for suggesting. Albert
P.S. any other abstracr ones you like? 😉
@@ImperfectPaintings I'll get back to you after I finish your lessons on Kandinsky and Miro!🎨
Haha, homework first. 2👍 Enjoy binging, Albert
I enjoy Klee's whimsy, along with Miro's take on art. Both made interesting art. I like the way you cut out the eyes and moved them around. I would not have thought of that. Good video and ways to think about art.
Hi Culture Fan, thanks. The eyes make this painting so much fun. I just love Klee's artwork. Bye, Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings art is about creating new way of doing and thinking. variation is a key word to approaching art
Nice.
Thanks, Vrej.
Thanks for the video Albert, i really like it. It is funny to look at and my mind said go and do it yourself. Hope now i get my inspiration back😀🙀🤪
Hi J, thanks. And just do it, it's fun and not complicated at all. Especially the one with the figures with eyes. Go, go go. Painting is also about doing 😇😉 Fijne vakantie, Albert
Definitely playful! I love these videos. Thanks so much for sharing.
Hi Grammy, thanks. Playful is just so much fun, I love it. Happy painting, Albert
I am grateful for your demonstration. You have captured the spirit of his work and way of working so well. The joy is evident.
Thanks Morgan for your kind words, it means a lot to me. It's so much fun to paint in (t)his way. Albert
I simply ADORE all this!
Good to hear, Enrica. Happy painting, Albert
I got into art as a way of translating my thinking into something visual, so I could actually *see* what my ideas were supposed to be, express myself better to other people, and also feel productive in a certain way.
Well, a primal need of perfecting my art started to take over my head as the years have passed since my childhood. Studying art is great, I like it, I love to see my skills getting better and better with the passing of time. In the other hand, though, this frustrates me and makes me feel insatisfied, empty, incomplete in a certain way.
Playful art is what saves me from this feelings. I doodle a lot, and often play with different artstyles that aren't really my kind of art. It makes me happy, and takes me out of the "draw > paint > feel insatisfied > destroy your art" cycle.
Most of the people around me have a very closed mindset about what they consider art. For them, when art stops being realistic and becomes cartoony, geometrical, abstract and playful, it is just something made without any effort, and something even a child could do. Being playful in art when you have such a perfectionist workflow actually takes a LOT of effort. I think the point of playful art is freeing yourself from a serious, perfectionist and mature mindset, and letting yourself have lots of fun and stretching the legs of your bottled creativity!
Been binging your older videos this weekend, Albert! Really impressive how you managed to keep such great content quality since years ago! I'm very glad I've found your channel. I've been looking for channels like yours for a good while. I think I should take a look at pottery channels too.
Have a nice Sunday, my friend!
Thanks Tekkno Pidgeon for your longread comment. I know exactly what you mean and know of quite a number who struggle like you, among the viewers here as well. Also painters who don't resonate with their peers on the 'playful' aspect, or abstract in general. It's a misunderstanding or narrow minded view that art is only art when realistic. It requires a playful or flexible mind to appreciate abstract for what it is. But I guess our current society could use some more flexible minds as well.
I'm glad you found my channel, feel welcome to hang out here.
Albert
Love this. Playful painting is beautiful.
Hi Maureen, thanks. I totally agree. I love playful, Albert
I love playful art work. Paul Klee is a favorite of mine and your video did him proud. Thanks for your sharing.
Hi Maureen, thanks. Yes, playful, wonderful. Probably you wouldn't be here otherwise. 😄 I just love Paul Klee, one big treasure trove. Happy painting, Albert
I loves this video so much! Very inspiring. Will try at home
Have fun Marcia. It will turn out nice. Albert
Love the idea of exploring methods of different artists
Thanks Keke, I like it too. It's a nice way to learn too. Albert

Hi Maryam, thanks. I enjoyed maling this video very much, Paul Klee is such a wonderful artist. Enjoy making your own. Happy painting, Albert
I just found your clips and they’re great! I believe that playful art is fun and it can also take the pressure off producing something ‘perfect’.
Thanks N, and my point exactly. Just go play and find out what you love to make the next step can be to try to get better. Albert
Great video Albert, lots of fun!
Hi Jane, thanks. This is really happy painting. Albert
Yes I would love playful art like that of Paul Klee because it tells me that by being playful it can result into something unique, interesting and of course artful. I will do one and discover what I can create out of being playful. Thanks for that video, Im inspired again.
Hi Maria, thanks, also for answering the question. Playfulness is in my opinion an essential element in making art or just painting. It brings an extra quality to the table what also can make that art becomes more approachable. Paul Klee often makes me smile. Happy painting and can you let me know if you succeeded? Albert
I love it!
Thanks Deb. Enjoy all the inspiration for your paintings. Albert
Klee is a delight. Another playful artist to look at is Saul Steinberg. He did a lot of work for New Yorker Magazine.
Thanks Carol, Steinberg looks funny. Maybe I will look into him too. Albert
Exceptional video. Thanks for your channel.
Hi Suzanne, thanks. Paul Klee's great art helps also. Albert
Bedankt weer voor de video Albert! Een begaafde kunstenaar die Paul Klee met een eigen stijl! Dat heb je mooi uitgewerkt in een interessante video!
Hallo Ellen, bedankt. Hij is één van mijn favoriete kunstenaars. En nu lekker schilderen. Albert
arte lúdico
I totally agree, Paco.
❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you, Сандра
Had so much fun experimenting with this Thank You Any chance you can do paintings in the style of Jean Michel basquiat?
Hi Steve, thanks and wonderful to hear. Basquiat is on my list, somewhere in the fall, but thanks for the suggestion. Happy painting, Albert
Do you ever do anything with watercolor? I’m restricted to water color, colored pencils, pens and pencils. I’d love to see you do something with these tools. I LOVE your videos! They are helpful AND entertaining.
Hi Kathe, thanks. I mainly work with acrylics, I'm used to them and not very familiar with watercolor. Although I love the way you can work with it. I guess you can do most of what I do also with watercolor or pencils. At the moment I have an open invitation to paint: ua-cam.com/video/joV5r4KG0GM/v-deo.html. This can be done very well with your art supplies and in any size that fits for you. I already have 1 or 2 watercolor works received and also 1 with pencils. I can't teach you watercolor techniques but creatively I guess you can find a lot to keep you busy. The coming video is about drawing but in a different way. What a coincidence. 😁 Happy (watercolor) painting, Albert
having fun is what we need, we take ourselves to serious sometimes . Stay Safe
Hi Laura, I couldn't agree more. Enjoy ou painting playtime. Stay safe, Albert
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍
Thanks Humberto. Enjoy making your own artwork. Albert
Thanks Albert for this lesson . I like Paul Klee’s art and how you bring his playfulness through your instruction. How about doing one on Alberto Magnelli? Check him out and let us know what you think of heart. Stay safe.
Hi Salim, thanks. Yes, full of play this Paul Klee, I love it. Your suggestion of Magnelli is also very interesting. You keep coming with new names, thanks. There are so many interesti6 artists. I've added his name to my list, already a long list. Now I only have to choose. Stay safe, Albert
I'd love to be able to paint playfully. Unfortunately, every time I try I end up with something far too controlled. Maybe I need to draw with my eyes closed.
Hi Jennifer, I get what you mean. May I suggest to use a bigger brush, a 20 or 40 mm. I noticed i paint more freely when using them. You can't work to detailed but perhaps that also would be better. When gotten used to a bigger brush you will be able work detailed with it. Happy painting, Albert

Thanks, Joan.
Not playful, I like more serious painting. Thanks :)
Hi A S, thanks. Next time we do serieus painting, perhaps also fun to do😉 Albert
