I LOVE playful art! I recently discovered Paul Klee while teaching my second graders about art. We spent a lot of time recreating our own versions of his work. Now, I'm doing just that in my sketchbook at home. There is so much to Paul Klee to enjoy and discover! Thank you for this lovely video! :)
Thanks, Julie. It's so nice to hear you all had fun. There are a few other videos about artwork made by Paul Klee on my channel. Perhaps they give you even more new ideas. Happy painting, Albert
Hi Maureen, thanks. Yes, playful, wonderful. Probably you wouldn't be here otherwise. 😄 I just love Paul Klee, one big treasure trove. Happy painting, Albert
Hi J, thanks. And just do it, it's fun and not complicated at all. Especially the one with the figures with eyes. Go, go go. Painting is also about doing 😇😉 Fijne vakantie, Albert
I enjoy Klee's whimsy, along with Miro's take on art. Both made interesting art. I like the way you cut out the eyes and moved them around. I would not have thought of that. Good video and ways to think about art.
Thanks, Beth, for your suggestion. But his level of technique and use of color is way beyond mine. I bowed to him or for him because I love what he did. Anyway, thanks for suggesting. Albert P.S. any other abstracr ones you like? 😉
@@ImperfectPaintingsmy wife and I enjoy painting together with acrylics and we do mixed media art projects together. I also am a lead volunteer for a painting with patients program at our local hospital, which I really enjoy.
@@darkcometadventures8801 painting together, wonderful. Thanks for your time spend as volunteer painting in the hospital. I bet a lot of people will enjoy it. Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings if you ever have a chance to highlight an abstract artist using the Ebru technique (painting on a water surface), I think that would be very interesting.
Hi DarkComet, ebru sounds interesting. I know of it but never tried it myself. I will look into this, it looks fascinating. Thanks for mentioning. Albert
Thanks, hoomalimali. Indeed, just thought you might start to like the style. Just enjoy all of them. But don't forget to make your versions, just watching is only half the trick, and have fun doing. Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings Yes, I'm trying. I'm a lifelong photographer fascinated by the collage environment, it's so informal. Always got students to go out and shoot shoot shoot so understand your advice and appreciate it. You are an inspiration to so many. Thank you, Paul. (when asked about the most important darkroom gear I always said "a big trash bin" and so far that's what I'm finding with my collage attempts but not giving up !)
Making and looking at collage, to me in the beginning, was like making and looking at trash while I was despirately trying to see beauty in it. Until I stopped looking at trash and instead looked at it and expexted to see beauty. I noticed lines, color combinations and so on. I didn't change my doing but my thinking. I was not incompetent but I just had to find a way to look at it in a different way.. I had to find the words or, more accurate, learn a new language for my thinking. Seeing, judging, feeling and playing in this new language helped to grasp the idea of collage. Perhaps you know this from photography and how you developed your skills. Just a thought. Have a great day, Albert
Yes I would love playful art like that of Paul Klee because it tells me that by being playful it can result into something unique, interesting and of course artful. I will do one and discover what I can create out of being playful. Thanks for that video, Im inspired again.
Hi Maria, thanks, also for answering the question. Playfulness is in my opinion an essential element in making art or just painting. It brings an extra quality to the table what also can make that art becomes more approachable. Paul Klee often makes me smile. Happy painting and can you let me know if you succeeded? Albert
Do you ever do anything with watercolor? I’m restricted to water color, colored pencils, pens and pencils. I’d love to see you do something with these tools. I LOVE your videos! They are helpful AND entertaining.
Hi Kathe, thanks. I mainly work with acrylics, I'm used to them and not very familiar with watercolor. Although I love the way you can work with it. I guess you can do most of what I do also with watercolor or pencils. At the moment I have an open invitation to paint: ua-cam.com/video/joV5r4KG0GM/v-deo.html. This can be done very well with your art supplies and in any size that fits for you. I already have 1 or 2 watercolor works received and also 1 with pencils. I can't teach you watercolor techniques but creatively I guess you can find a lot to keep you busy. The coming video is about drawing but in a different way. What a coincidence. 😁 Happy (watercolor) painting, Albert
Thanks Albert for this lesson . I like Paul Klee’s art and how you bring his playfulness through your instruction. How about doing one on Alberto Magnelli? Check him out and let us know what you think of heart. Stay safe.
Hi Salim, thanks. Yes, full of play this Paul Klee, I love it. Your suggestion of Magnelli is also very interesting. You keep coming with new names, thanks. There are so many interesti6 artists. I've added his name to my list, already a long list. Now I only have to choose. Stay safe, Albert
I'd love to be able to paint playfully. Unfortunately, every time I try I end up with something far too controlled. Maybe I need to draw with my eyes closed.
Hi Jennifer, I get what you mean. May I suggest to use a bigger brush, a 20 or 40 mm. I noticed i paint more freely when using them. You can't work to detailed but perhaps that also would be better. When gotten used to a bigger brush you will be able work detailed with it. Happy painting, Albert
I love Paul Klee-I really enjoy your way of teaching art-so playful and carefree!
Thanks, Moncho. Art is fun, just start playing. Albert
I love the playfulness you presented. It’s so delightful.
