Jawlensky is one of the artists of the The Blue rider art movement (Der blaue Reiter movement) which were to prompt the German expressionism art movement. Alexej von Jawlensky portraits exist in two versions, colorful expressionistic and the abstract heads. He painted a lot of versions of the Alexej von Jawlensky abstract head. Alexej von Jawlensky artwork is valued highly.

Materials
The art materials I use in the videos are not sponsored.

In almost all my videos I use with Winsor&Newton Galeria acrylics, if not, I will say so in the video.
Other materials I use are in random order: 5, 10 and 40mm brushes, palette knives, acrylics medium, Ecoline liquid watercolor, Lyra color pencils, Lyra soft pastels, oil pastels, Stabilo color pencils, paper palette pad and basic masking tape. I also use household items like a permanent marker, scrub sponge, scissors, paper towel, and so on.

I think a portrait must reflect or capture the psychology of the sitter. However while Jawlensky didn't paint the psychology of his subject but rather a spirit or emotion, he captures human elements of the soul which is just as important.
