MELODIC MUSE by Andy Timmons
STORY TELLING
Over the next two columns, Andy Timmons discusses his guitar solo in “Welcome Home,” a tune he had written and recorded for the 2016 Andy Timmons Band album, Theme From a Perfect World. The solo is played over what is basically a repeating four-bar, three-chord progression, but the approach he took for the solo was to craft lines that are melodic and hooky and played in an emotive, expressive way, while also targeting elements of the chords, so that the melody clearly dictates, or describes, the underlying progression.

My hero.🎸🙏🙏👍👍👍🌷🌹🌷🌷❤🌷
im not sure if i ever sat down and worked out a solo. 99% of what i do on youtube is improvisation. I find it a little strange when a guitarist talks about working out solos.
Might be why we never heard of you.
