Love this! Everyone is saying that there is no story, but I love that it leaves you with questions. It sparks my imagination; it makes me wonder what this man's life was like when he was younger. Just beautiful.
This is so pretty, the visuals were great. I knew from the start that it wasn't going to be a story, more of a reel to capture a moment I guess. Great job, Kris!
Shots were amazing. The story gave me chills .How bad others didnt seem to grasp it.Even the title lays it all but still the comment sections seems to be completely out of orbit.
Absolutely beautiful, with no back story or any kind of script, this short was still so powerful, I don't know how you endure these 'experts'. This was better than some the hi prod movie trailers. Keep up the good work ignore the hate this was absolutely stunning !!
Not a lot happened, but you could definitely tell a story with those shots I think! What would've been a cool shot was when he was gripping the steering wheel, maybe you heard sound effects of racecars or something from his past explaining why he hid this perfect vehicle. Would've added a nice touch! Very cool for a short little cinematographic film!
Dude have to say, i loved this short! not to mention the crisp visuals and beautiful story telling man. the acting was fantastic. loved it! hmm hmm Don't mind the haters or people who told you, they needed a more traditional story! they wont understand! keep it up!
Hey Kris! Love the cinematography of this short. I must agree with few other comments about story. Maybe you could show, what brought him to this point, that he wanted to get back in the youth. Maybe a picture of his wife, or something like that. Anyway I love the emotion, interpretation of his feelings when he sits in the car and drives away (birds flying - freedom). But in the end, it's still a great piece of art, and I'd love to see a breakdown and/or maybe a commentary (what would you do differently, what would you change, or just what techniques did you use). Most of all I really want to know how did you light credit scene. Congratulations, keep up the great work.
AV films exactly it missed that really important part. id say he redo it with that part added (the flashback: why is the car important, why should we care for the man, and what can it teach us)
Thanks! I can see how that could have added a bit of added back story. We were actually planning on shooting a full short but ran out of time so this is just the beginning of that. Wish I had more time to shoot it but we only had a few hours. I'm currently working on a breakdown and an editing tutorial since there were a lot of editing tricks to make some of the shots work. Cant wait to share that! Thank you for watching and for your feedback
First! Huge fan of your channel. You've inspired me to start getting into UA-cam seriously. I've been trying out your lighting techniques for my shoots and they have helped me tremendously. Thank you =)
man your channel has grown so much, saw your channel in feeds didnt even realize you removed productions from your name, anyways i subbed to you back when you had 30k when i was learning some after effects from you, its so good to see you now have around 200k. wish you the best for future :D
hey. thanks for two things. Number 1. the artlist.io recommendation. after your mentioned it on the vlog I had a peep. awsome!!!!!!!! a godsend. i hate looking for tunes. so that alone was worth entering the contest, you see ... I have already won something .... Number 2. thanks for letting us play with your timeless footage. so cool.
Looks really nice! I think, you could've added some more emotion/relatability to it by 1. adding sound; sounds play such an important part in immersing the audience into the story like a sigh, some sounds of the old car etc.! If you just wanna go with the music, I would've chosen something more poignant and strong. 2. having more closeups of the actor and one wideshot maybe to help us understand the spacial importance of the narrative 3. (like some others already pointed out) add a tiny bit of backstory for example at the beginning of the scene to make it feel more alive..otherwise it just feels like a staged kind of montage..thats just my two cents though. Your channel is awesome so keep it up! Cheers
How does artlist work exactly? If you are subscribed you basicly own any song from Artlist you use in a video or movie? So what happens if you are not subscribed anymore.
Hey man first of all I really love your videos. They help me a lot. But tbh I didn't like it. The images where amazing. I mean who doesn't like that crisp Red Camera feeling. But (maybe I missed sth) I think you can do more. To me there just was no story. I've watched it three times but I can't find this anything that makes it stand out, that makes it sth everyone needs to see. Don't take this wrong I really like your work but you have a lot of potential... Don't waste it. Have a nice one.
Alpha Pictures hey! Thanks for watching my videos. With this one I wanted to capture a feeling rather than a beginning-middle-end type story. The feeling being an elder man rediscovering his youth through a timeless piece of automotive art. He connects with the inanimate object as if it had a soul and the flood of memories reinvigorate his spirit. Maybe it's too philosophical but I wanted to try something different. Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad you shared your perspective because it helps me shape future videos.
KriscoartProductions The problem is that you don't give any informations about this old guy, we can not empathise with him if we don't know who he actually is. We have to know something for example about his past or why he left his car unused because otherwise it's just an anonymous person, and no one can emphathise with a stranger :)
Kriscoart I got that.. just a nice feeling, especially as he first sat in the car. it's only a short film, so you can look into his eyes and just wonder what the old bloke's been through. I think the music selection plays easily 50% towards the mood. take it for what it is, lovely imagery, and a complimentary soundtrack, to invoke a feeling of wonder, or mystery.
I really enjoyed it but somehow it felt a bit empty to me. The story was clear for me yet I feel like you could have emphasized it even more if you made the contrast between him wanting to rediscover his youth and the reality a bit stronger. I personally would've prefered it if he would've left the car there and all he went to do was just to sit in the car and enjoy the moment of revisiting his memories from his youth and then returning to reality. Don't get me wrong, it is amazing as it is, I just feel like that could've added a little more emotion.
I don't really get what the fuck is everyone on about. I got the story perfectly. It's his old car, he gets to it and feels the nostalgia of what it was, of what he was. Then he drives off. To me, it's a perfectly told incredibly short story. Well done. Pay no attention to people needing a hand to guide them through a voiceless story.
Why were the static shots (like the one through the door with the guy walking by outside) hand-held? You could see the camera shaking when it would've been just as easy to sit it on a tripod... unless the floor was filled with electrified water... (but still: rubber soles...)
This is coming from a very amateur student but if it was me , around 2 minutes i would only cut after he started moving his arms reaching for the wheel , then it shows him gently touching it. I also feel like at 2:11 should have been a long shot instead of cutting to another camera angle since i feel like that emotion would have been portrayed better. Last but not least , why didnt you turn the camera with the car at the end showing the destination ? Wouldn't that prove more depth ? Really love your work. If you still read these I'd much appreciate an answer.
the sound design is amazing the song made me feel nostalgic let alone the Visual and i think that's what you want the video to represent , nice work but my Feedback is that you guy went to much with the slow Motion i think that scenes with him walking to the car should have not been in slow motion to show that the time is going fast for this oldguy and then he stumbled upon this car that brought a lot of good memories and made him feel nostalgic but when he closes his eyes behind the wheel or when he walks to the car like his heart rate slows down then it goes to slow motion to show how timeless it is
Hey there Kris, why don't you come visit my country and make some great documentary? I'm from Bangladesh and I would be glad to see you in my country, by the way, you can let me give the vocals if you decide to make... I'm not kidding.
Kriscoart I seriously doubt you went through all this trouble of getting the car, the actor and the camera just to capture a feeling. Maybe you did but I feel that'd be a waste of such tools you had at your disposal. Look at the shorts by Pixar. You get a small story within it, and you Capture the feeling! Plus great visuals! That recent bird one especially. Was just as long as this, and it managed to capture a feeling with and have a cute little story in it that made you capture the feeling even more so. All the elements of film work together to make something great. Which brings me back to having a team. Not trying to say it was bad short or anything. Just lacked some key elements to make it actually be considered a short imo.
you don't need a story, but you need the viewer to get emotionally immersed with what you are showing. this failed here. There was literally no reason to emphasize with the old man or his joy of reliving his youth. You should atleast take the time to introduce the main characters of your short. We all know that you can make pretty looking pictures, that is why we have subscribed.
Just found your tutorials, thanx btw... I made sure to disable adblock for ya.. (occasionally I need it).. I, also ,was expecting more story, reason being, a lot of people do visualscapes of misc things, with slow motion and music, and don't get criticized about story (ex: Philip Bloom).. However their's don't quite have the "movie cinema" look and feel (almost).. So what I'm saying is a compliment, You're video may be a bit too pretty to what the world expects for a video meant for "eye candy" or we just expected a story due to your film making tutorials.. However, maybe not.. Perhaps you stumbled onto a new genre' .. Professionals using their expertise to express their own personal art.. Not having to be anything like their movies, just whatever the f they want kinda thing... I still haven't put together a single thing yet (video wise) only audio, but I keep trying to make music videos with all the help from you youtubers that give us all this awesome knowledge.. So Thanx a tonne, I'm looking forward to my next 30 years, and now yours.. Cheers Kris
I made my own cinematic based off of Secret Life of Walter Mitty, I would really like some feedback, sorry for the advertisement, but I've been really looking for feedback and if you guys could give some to me that would be awesome!
I know for a fact that you know your shit bro and it just feels like you could've portrayed the story more effectively. I got the story, but the visuals felt a little too detached from the story. For example, that shot where the camera racks from soft to sharp focus on the headlight.. if I could see more of the man's expressions rather than camera techniques on the inorganic surrounding, it would have brought more life to the film. Also, I wish there was more movement.

Very Nice 👍🏻
Thank you for all your tips/ tutorials about filmmaking and more.
Keep doing it. You're doing a great job.

Beautiful in visuals and in story telling. Thanks for this.
This should be an ad for Alfa Romeo, loved it
Beautifully shot! That car is gorgeous!
Great music and great visuals. Some shots there were really on point. I'd love to see a long made by you
Would love to make something longer. Hopefully this summer! Thanks for watching!
The credits are sick. Nice short film, love the shots
Thanks!

Really like the ending + the credits . I would love to see more close up shots, details ,...macros ... they look very nice : ) . Thumbs up !

I think someone's going to ask you to do a commercial soon because that was really good
That would be nice! Thanks for watching!
This was beautiful!
Thank you
I love the beautiful visual. I think it would have been even moodier if the leaves on the car were old and brown
absolutely well done!
Thank you!

UA-cam's compression is really killing the beauty of the shadows... why you gotta do that to us, UA-cam?
Where do you download sound effects?

Hey there Kris, why don't you come visit my country and make some great documentary?
I'm from Bangladesh and I would be glad to see you in my country, by the way, you can let me give the vocals if you decide to make... I'm not kidding.
nice frames
Thanks!
woooow wwww!!!!!
Good Visuals, nothing else. Find yourself a good writer and you'll be solid. Don't try and make everything under your wing. A team is better than 1.
Things don't always have to have a beginning-middle-end. I wanted to capture a feeling with this short not a story.

Naah, could have done better. The camera is taking away the cake, rather than your skill.
