Old donut would have found a specialist to make an intake manifold to survive. I keep watching donut videos hoping that they take our comments into consideration and adapt rather than trying to revitalize something that clearly died in public opinion. It's simple! Put in full effort, let your hosts spearhead projects, make fun of them for making mistakes. Donut is good at finding faces that you can love. Just put in the work and do it again.

Bummer. This video felt very different, not in a good way. Ill give them the benefit of the doubt and say this was a rushed production or little staff involvement, but damn.
    1. No real details or showing the install, just a VO. Clearly for time would be my guess.
    2. No number for number comparisons like a 0-60 time, distance to 100mph, anything quantifiable. At the very least an overlay of every run from stock to 100 shot would be better than just comparing the last run.
    3. Even as a small youtuber i know audio is key. The in car shots had im guessing just go pro audio, no mics. Even one point missing audio completely using voice to text.
    4. Jobe was enthusiastic enough but others mentioned Jer, even though he was just in at the end, was not feeling it.
Again, i bet this video was filmed during the break of the ionic 5 N video so not much thought at all into it, it showed.
    Bummer.

At the beginning, the voice over really sapped what ever presence Adam usually has. I think it was bonkers that during a time where 3 of their biggest hosts have left recently, they ask Adam to explain how Nitrous works …. When Bart, another long lost host also described as being the shop dad in the Gambler video, did the same thing with way more enthusiasm six years ago! I thought I was taking crazy pills. It really felt they were saying "Hey we used to bring this electricity, but now we are this".

This illustrates why the wet manifold kit is called the blow-up kit when installed on fuel injected cars in this manner. It injects raw fuel into an intake manifold designed to move air only. The fuel has a tendency to puddle in the intake usually causing a lean condition in at least 1 cylinder. The first lean backfire can ignite all of the fuel in the intake. This can even blow up metal intake manifolds. When installing nitrous on a fuel injected car, either install a dry manifold kit or install a wet kit with the nozzles at the ends of the intake runners, near the fuel injectors, 1 per cylinder. Also, if the bottle is installed in the passenger compartment, it must have the safety pressure relief valve vented outside the car, or it will not pass visual inspection at any sanctioned racing event. For this install, it would have been a simple matter to drill another hole and vent the bottle out the floor. It can be argued that it's not needed when the plan is to blow up the car in a controlled environment, but it should at least be mentioned. Automotive nitrous is NOT breathable, unlike medical nitrous.

  • @KJMTurbo
    @KJMTurbo 3 місяці тому +11

Nitrous backfires happen when you use it at too low of an RPM, it can’t handle that much charge at that RPM and it backs up and creates the perfect environment for a backfire. Save it for above 3,800RPM (arbitrary number, just wait till it’s close to where it’s breathing good and can handle the shot.)

@@PandaZZZ4I dont care if they had shitty audio in their older videos. The problem is that they have shitty audio in current videos. A channel this size should not be failing on the very basics of audio engineering. You dont put muffled, low volume dialogue before you make a cut and put on a very loud and clear sound effect. What you should do is clean the dialogue audio the best you can and then make a soft, gradual change to the better quality audio.
Like I said, this is very basic stuff that even a small one person youtube channel should get right. Its highly embarassing that a channel of this caliber is having such kindergarden level issues.

I did that for a whole week before I graduated myself to a 100 shot dry.
I used to run that thing on a 100 alllllll the time. I'd do 125 on the track.
It took 50k miles of abuse and a whopping 150shot to finally blow the engine in that car.
What a testament to overbuilt Honda's. Even their transmissions back then...
Ended up finally ending its life at 160k miles of torture.

@@NabPunk Yeah, you can beat that game with the cars unlocked at the start. If you start to fast at the beginning of a race, the computer car will magically gain more performance to be more "challenging" (or was it "cheating"?). If you start slowly (well, "slowly" compared to what would be possible), the computer car won't get the magic performance upgrade, and you'll be able to pass it near the finish line.
I also remember one NFS:U game where I stuck with a car with only performance upgrades, and another car with all the pimping money could buy (the pimping was needed for game progression). You'd pimp your pimp ride enough, you'd get an invitation to a photo shoot with that car and that would unlock the next progression or something. I'd always switch from the pimp ride to the bland performance rise to get to the shoot location, and the underground racing magazine (or whatever that was) would show what looks like a stock car on the title page.
The games were fun. Was it NFS Carbon where they'd drop cop cars and Suburbans in front of you? Literally drop. If you went through the curves fast enough, the cars would still be dropping, and with a bit of luck, you'd pass under them before they hit the ground. No need to inhale NO2 for a trippy experience.

Heat is not normally a problem with Nitrous, as it actually cools the intake significantly, which is one of the big bonuses of nitrous over other power mods. However, detonation is definitely more of a risk, also running too lean can be a problem if your fuel pump and rail pressure isn't adequate.
But nos is still one of the best bang for your buck tuning mods on the market if you do it right.

So pipe and valve are filled with gaseous NO2. The valve isn't designed for liquid NO2 (although it would probably work).
