Great review as always. I have not had any luck finding a review that mentions if the weather channel view on the OEM Entune unit is available on the Sony unit. It's helpful when I'm driving and am expecting bad weather

One thing I'd like to see on all of the newer vehicles is the ability to use the cameras as a dash camera. Not that I'd want to look at the road all the time, but recording everything would be great. Why buy a separate unit when you've already got one built in? That's a nice head unit though. Not Tundra great, but still good. LOL!
I bought the Ax5600 pkg, do you have access to both USB plugs? I like your Mic location.

@@Member_1115 They really resolved any of the issues with the T8 and T9. I'm not a CarPlay or Android Auto person, so I can't speak to that feature. There's always some DIY with those installs, but I haven't needed to mess with any settings for months. It's very quick and I've had zero issues.
Is their stock microphone location thingie finished yet?

I’ve been in the market for something like this for a long while, love the design and look but what kills me is losing fatty volume knobs, my favorite part about my runner is them big ol knobs and losing those for screen control and tiny buttons would be hard to get used to. I guess I’d have to get used to being normal and using steering wheel controls 😅

Not much. If you really look at it and stare you notice, but not much while driving

are you able to plug in the phone and launch carplay while you are moving? Some headunits dont allow you to do this and you have install a defeater.

I honestly don’t plan to now. I’ve heard same issues as others with carplay and some bugs. I’m probably not gonna try it.

I followed the link in the description below and clicked some of the options and noticed the year only goes up to 2019. I have a 2022 limited. Maybe you have a better contact for help support and find out if it'll fit on 2019s and up. Thanks.
I really wanted this for my third get tacoma but I ended up getting the axv 6000 for wireless android auto and the maestro link or whatever that shows all the cars info. Didn't want to go with the xav 9500 because the screen is too big and it's my work truck so I wanted it to look stock. Definitely getting the xav9500 for my 19 tacoma though. Eventually lol
How’s the shipping wait? I ordered mine 4 weeks ago and it still hasn’t shipped. At the time of ordering it was only a 2-3 week lead time.

i got the 8500 in my 4Runner, the sound is unbelievable as well as the non-reflective screen. i have no idea whyyyyyy it doesn't have hdmi input at such a crazy price point but whatever. the sound quality ohhhhh my god. 11/10 my only negative is I'm not able to assign custom actions to steering wheel buttons. they work fine but assigning them to do different things won't work

This is good to know. I was a bit of the T series fanboy. I’m in the Facebook group for the 10 and it’s a complete shit show at the moment. I will say I’m not a fan of the way this thing looks but if the functionality is good I can definitely compromise. It’s not that bad.
yea don't get me wrong, the T's look good, but they are so flawed. "oh well you have to download this and do that in settings and watching this video to fix this" Nope I want the $600 unit to work
@@TRDJon Yeah I 100% agree. They look great but honestly they kind of seem like a big piece of shit for the money. It’s very unfortunate. Especially with such a great community behind them.
The community it there cuz it’s guys that love Android tweaking and making it work. Which is fine, but for a $200 head unit.

Hi Jon…. Have watched your video on the install for the Dasaita head unit a few weeks ago and decided to go with that as my choice of head unit for my 2011 4 Runner. However, I have one hurdle to overcome before I can install it.
The factory brackets on my 4 Runner will not work with the Dasaita install. I have been to the Toyota dealership in town and their first attempt to order the right brackets were not even close. They said if I could get the VIN number from a model that has the right brackets they could make sure to order the right ones.
Do you have any information on what the part numbers are for the brackets you used in the install for your Dasaita head unit. I’m dead in the water right now…. Any information would be appreciated

Best thing to do I would say is just order online. There are sites out there to help find part numbers.
Mine is a 2018 so idk why a parts department couldn’t just look that up.
Just installed this in my Tacoma and GPS is gone, my phone call controls don’t work, and music dash info does not show anything ( I know gps is just a loss). Did you have these same issues? I’m thinking this is going to be a return to Trail Grid because losing gps is fine but I thought all steering controls were to be retained.

@@TRDJon did you use the carplay2air or carlinkit one? Or does it not matter? I'm interested in this radio unit but hesitant due to no wireless and want to make sure it's good before pulling trigger on this setup.
I wonder if the display could dim if you had the sensor button replaced on the dash? I know on the 4R if you replace the button on the dash with a functioning one it will auto darken the factory head units.

I am still on the fence but will quickly jump off if it will fix my issue. The only thing I hate about my ‘18 limited is the Bluetooth talking. (I have done all recommended “fixes” but they don’t work) I can’t go over 30 on the volume or the recipient has echo feedback…sooo annoying!! We are stationed in WA so add driving on the terrible roads and the rain you can’t hear anything (lower all your windows a little and that’s the best way to describe the noise level) We move cross country at the end of the summer which means a lot of phone calls to stay awake.
Sooo…. to my point has anyone mentioned echo feedback? How high is your volume?

Can the head unit be lowered so that it doesn't block the A/C vents? As a fellow Floridian I'm surprised that you will let anything block your vents even a little.
Air moves over it perfectly fine imo. I'm not hot at all in the 4R.

Having the larger screen is nice but I'm in San Francisco, and this just screams for someone to break into my car to rip it out.

The screen attachment seems adjustable. Can you adjust it lower so it doesn’t block the vents?
No but there is still good air flow

I am betweeen this and waiting for a T10. Forgive me for not being well versed in these systems yet, but can you download apps like Google Maps like on the other head units. I despise Apple Maps.
if you have google maps on your phone you can slect that
The only issue I have with this unit. It's not wireless for Apple car play or Android auto and from my understanding, you lose the Information section for eco mpg that was on the OEM unit also maintenance reminder
Yea wireless would be nice, and let’s be honest, does eco really mean anything in the 4Runner haha
