Finally a vid that gives me the info I am looking for. YT and google have been feeding me some bs lately on everything I look into. Glad I found this, Thanks for sharing.
Looks great. I want to upgrade the dated Head Unit in my 23' T4R TRDOR Premium. What I'm finding is there doesn't seem to be a Head Unit that is compatible with a 4 camera system. My 4R has the Multi-Terrain Monitoring System; it has the 360-degree Birdseye view and is capable of isolating the camera feeds in several different combinations. Any chance this unit is compatible with a 4-camera system? Oh, by the way, that thermal camera, fantastic idea and a great safety feature. I could use something like that as I frequently drive on roads at night that are not lit with streetlights and are crawling with deer. Too many close calls to even count.
Love your video!! Most informative one on this unit that I have seen... When you say that you glued it into the dash 5:49, do you mean you glued the bracket or you glued the unit to the metra dash kit? If you need to access the rear of the pioneer unit are you still able to get to the back with it glued?
Dang, that looks sharp! I’ve been considering installing an aftermarket unit in my 16 SR5 Premium, but I don’t like how the 7” head units look small in the dash space the stock head unit takes up. That fills in that space nicely without obstructing the vents or HVAC.
Alright... $1800 for the camera, $1500 for the Pioneer, and over $400 worth of gear (The Maestro RR2 is $200 alone!). This setup can be yours for the low low price of just under $4000.00 ... so cheap! 🤑 I may just spare one of my $100 bill 'toilet paper rolls' and go for it!! .... sarcasm aside, the install looked to be well done and carefully thought out. Good job.
Yeah this definitely not cheap and the infared camera is obviously a huge optional piece of tech. When you take that away, it's a little easier to stomach and in my opinion worth every dollar in terms of the upgrades it provides.
Super informative vid - thanks for putting this one together. Does the Maestro unit offer climate controls via the Pioneer? How's the Pioneer mic quality? If not great, I'm thinking of using an adapter to use the OEM mic in the the headliner, beside the sunroof button.
Is there a way to talk on your phone itself when the android auto is running? Say I have someone in the car with me and don't want them to here my conversation. How do I transfer the call back to my phone?
Great video and awesome rig!! Do you have a video on how you mounted your SPOD controller in that location? I looked through your channel and cannot seem to find anything.
Sorry for the delay JSOn. I don't but it was pretty easy. You need to take out the dash and I basically drilled the RAM mount holes into the back of the pocket. Sorry if that doesn't help a ton!
Can you make a review on the thermal camera? Would you recommend it? I was wondering about it’s longevity since it doesn’t have any dust, water or cold weather rating I could find.
Great vid, thanks! I am considering this unit for my 2010 Escalade EXT. I mainly listen to song and podcast files from a USB stick, and I have a LOT of folders and files. Can you tell me, how easy is it to navigate through tons of folders & files on a USB stick? Nice install!
I have the Daisaita double din 10” adjustable screen in my subaru that i replaced a double din Pioneer for. At under $600 the dasaita did everything i wanted. I think if you are going to install a full high end stereo with amps, speakers and subs, pioneer and alpine are the way to go. If its just for android and apple apps and better useability, id save the money and get the Dasaita. At around $650-$700, you get android and apple apps, dsp sound quality and a large 10.2 ips screen. I just bouht one for my 2015 4 runner and hope to get it friday.
Absolutely! Lots of more economical options out there that perform much of the same features. Being a longtime Pioneer fan who uses their entertainment system a lot, there was no other option in my head in terms of build quality and support.
For all the mods you have done. Can u daily your 4 runner like for example, if u was in the city or only went off-roading sometimes. How does it ride with all those mods and extra stuff u added?
Sorry Jordan I wish I did! I took it back to the installer after and he made the adjustment. From what I know though, it's just two or four holes in the stock metal radio bracket.
Just installed mine in a 2017 Jeep Wrangler JK.. Its an amazing unit. Looks like a factory option as well as it blends with the dash and interior. Just one question, how do you update the firmware ? Great video…
Super cool! I’m in Arvada and am looking at this same setup. What was the shop’s price to install this unit with everything but the thermal cam? So just maestro and floating display product price + install.
How did you move the unit down far enough to not block the bottom 1/3 of the vents? Mine is currently blocking them as it shows at the end of the install in your video.
That is a great question! I haven't had experience with the Bird's Eye View camera. My first thought would be to see what the connection port on the back of the stock unit looks like and if that is compatible with the camera input on this unit.
Great video! Love the look of this setup. Thanks for the install tips! Is the night owl thermal camera something that could be added later if I wanted to go easy on my wallet at first?
My pleasure glad you enjoyed! You can absolutely add the thermal camera after, you'll just have to pull the head unit out enough to access the rear of the unit so you can plug it in.
Can you do a video of how long it takes to go from ignition to Carplay? Or even just time it. All of the units I've looked at take forever to boot then switch to carplay.
That's a good question. I'd say under 30 seconds? Actually Android just updated their OS and has caused some issues with Android Auto, but their next update should address that? Either way it's not the fastest load time but for me it's acceptable.
What up Daveed! I'm actually planning one now! Should be filming in a few weeks. Going to be a bit more unique but as long as you're subscribed you'll be the first to know when it drops.
Both NEX stereos I’ve owned had fucked up issues. Freezing while driving, failing to boot and restarting, failure to acquire steering controls. I’m disappointed by NEX products and tbh its not gonna be fixed in 8600.
@@Outworld I had an old single DIN pioneer screen fail on me too. Going to go Alpine or Kenwood from now on tbh. I don't think Pioneer actually changes/improves their electrical/software designs or they have horrible QA.
let's take a moment to appreciate toyota allowing us this option by keeping the head unit and climate controls separate. Now if they could have just done that on lexus too. I'd own a lx470 if not for the big dog turd 2004 screen steaming in the middle of the dash.
Finally a vid that gives me the info I am looking for.
YT and google have been feeding me some bs lately on everything I look into.

Great to hear thanks Benton!
Anything in particular that was helpful?
Man. You've made my installation world so much better. Thanks
Glad to help Erik!

That thermal camera is sick

Exactly why I went with this unit!
How has this held up? Now they have the Alpine version and also he hamiton head untti similar to the 2024 head units

Hi. Do you have any pics or video of the modifications made to the mounting brackets (so the AC vents were not blocked)? Thanks.
Need this info too please 🙏🏽
Need this info as well please 🙏
Super informative vid - thanks for putting this one together.

How's the Pioneer mic quality? If not great, I'm thinking of using an adapter to use the OEM mic in the the headliner, beside the sunroof button.
It's bad not having the ability to configure the steering wheel controls from the head unit.
Nice work! Much better than the T10 unit. I didn't like the floating head unit at first, but I'm beginning to love it.
Well I never thought I'd ask. What's the background song???
Is there a way to talk on your phone itself when the android auto is running? Say I have someone in the car with me and don't want them to here my conversation. How do I transfer the call back to my phone?
Have info on this thermal, since I found the customize screen can I drive and have the thermal cam on the main screen portion
Such a clean install. I just picked up this set up. Curious, what was the RCA “Y” adapter for?
Blocks the 2 center vents. Need a completely in-dash solution if there is one that makes sense
There was no hindrance of the center vents with the unit in the lower DIN.
is screen bright to driver when wearing polarized sunglasses
Another question since this unit has a backup camera, can I plug in two thermal cameras front and rear instead of the OEM rear I don't use.
When you put 4Runner in reverse, does backup camera show up automatically?
Where are you guys located? I would love for you to do my 2013 Honda accord!
Great video and awesome rig!! Do you have a video on how you mounted your SPOD controller in that location? I looked through your channel and cannot seem to find anything.

how much did your unit cost ?
just curious as theres a local guy selling his for $800 that i can pick up
Do you need a Maestro kit for a 2007 4Runner?
What do you use for LTE ? service
Great video. Does it shakes or makes sounds while you are driving?
Does the stock 4runner USB port still function if you wish to run wired andriod auto?
How did you get the backup camera to come on in park?
Can you make a review on the thermal camera? Would you recommend it? I was wondering about it’s longevity since it doesn’t have any dust, water or cold weather rating I could find.
Yeah that sounds like some spy tech 🕵🏾♂️

Looking at a Kenwood 1057 for my 2019 Tundra. How’s the Pioneer unit after 2 yrs? I see you went to PDA Road Gear.
It's awesome! I sold that car and just put the same unit in my new vehicle. And yeah PDA is hands down the best audio installer I've ever dealt with.
For all the mods you have done. Can u daily your 4 runner like for example, if u was in the city or only went off-roading sometimes. How does it ride with all those mods and extra stuff u added?
you mentioned needing to drill holes to mount the unit lower (below the vents). Any pictures to show what you did?
Sorry Jordan I wish I did! I took it back to the installer after and he made the adjustment. From what I know though, it's just two or four holes in the stock metal radio bracket.
Anyway to speed up the boot time or put it in a sleep more for quick wake up
Not that I'm aware of.
What did you use the USB port cable for and how did you connect the auxiliary in USB on the dash to the Maestro or Pioneer?
I'm curious about this as well.
There’s no how to install video ?

The tpms reading for the tires is something that definitely calls my name. Why Toyota didn’t put this from stock 🤷🏻♂️

I forgot the exact process but you can drill a couple holes in the bracket so the unit occupies the lower double DIN instead.
@@Outworld thank you for the reply!
If a Toyota has the Bird's Eye View w/ perimeter Scan / 360-degree view, does the WT8600NEX work with that?

Does it have to be floating if I get this in my 2018 Nissan Altima SR. I like the radio but I don’t want it sticking out.
It’s too big to not be floating. You’ll need a regular double din to have it fully inserted in the dash
@@Tony-sy3vm thank you

Is there an aftermarket head unit for a 2021 4 Runner?
What phone mount you using? Nice vid
Scosche magic mount!
Updating the firmware caught be off guard... Def getting this for the 03' Maxima
Is there a double din dash kit ?
Look in the description
@Outworld True, thank you. excuse my lack of looking lol
What's the front bumper / winch setup you have on your 4runner?
CBI Off Road Fab!

Can you run Gaia maps on this?
I found out, yes, you can use Gaia maps through Apple Car Play. Thanks.
Doe the back up camera come on before a complete boot or does it only work one it’s booted up
Nope it works almost immediately after initial boot.
Love your vedios☺️🤩❤️✌🏻
Does this plug and play with the stock backup camera? Thanks!
yes it does!
So you haven't noticed any lag in the OS?
Nothing notable, and coming from the OE nav system it's night and day.
@@Outworld I'm on the fence with this purchase, appt next saturday for install. This is a lot of money if I don't like it.
@Outworld where did you get this install done?
PDA Road Gear in Littleton - can't recommend them enough
I do not like that it covers the vents. I think maybe the 7600 might be the better option for me.
I'm looking at Dasaita unit which seems to be more OEM look
@@gonzalosanchez6387 I wonder if the flashing is difficult to do. I do not think the Dasaita needs to be flashed, does it?

As long as the HVAC controls are separate from the entertainment unit you should be able to use this!

Was there any splicing or just plug and play?
You have to splice the harness but it's very easy
@@Outworld do you or the installer have steps to show splicing that’s needed?
