Quite Simply, Heisler, Climax, and Shay locomotives are all fine machines. Capable of tackling steep grades without rack rails while also carrying heavy loads. Logging Railroads are epic, and you can bet that I love imagining them up in fictional stories where they normally wouldn't fit in.
12 years after this was posted, I was just there and it is all the same, as if no time had passed, except they have a single pitched whistle on this one and you never see the Sonora Shay running anymore.
I vaguely remember (its been at least 12 years) but when I was a lad I remember seeing the #2 (really #3) under steam. I actually had no idea how lucky I was to see her, but I was a little upset to go and find that Dixiana was not running that day. Even back then, Dixie meant a lot to me...
She's a pretty rare example of a steam locomotive that during her career has been both standard and narrow gauge. West Side lumber company bought her as 3 Foot gauge, changed her to standard to switch their yard, and then changed her back!
@@Connor-gb6ioThere is, it’s a 2 truck shay known as Daisy. It’s currently not operational although the engine set was run via a steam hose a few years ago.

What a powerful loco to pull all the cars, etc.!❤😊
Great video!! I really need to get there. Never realized #2 isnt powerful enough to run solo
It can run solo with the right length of train.
Great railroad. I like to go there once a year. I missed it during the Covid-19 Pandemic Quarantine.
8 percent grade and no wheel slip thats awesome! Great video!!
Thanks for watching!

Outstanding locomotive , great tractive power, built to last !
All the steam equipment at Roaring Camp, for that matter!
Super trasa, piękna lokomotywa!😊
Heislers and Shays are my favorites.

You are a sentimental feller.

Thats the same diesel that used to come with model power train sets lol
First class video!!!!

Thanks for watching!
A great looking loco
We like it a lot!
So there is some 4 engines that pull passengers it is hiesler # 2, the small engine # 3, shay # 1, and shay # 7 right.
Nathan Corcoran yes I would love to see No.3 go up the mountain with No.2 since No.2 goes up usually with No.40
DJ Anthony Vasquez Vlogs yeah. No. 3 “Kahuku” doesn’t go up the mountain today. Because the switch back is used for geared steam locomotives.
Why is there no №.6?

God that heisler loco is a pain in the ass to use. Mainly because it is very light but has alot of power (hence alot of wheel slip)
this vid came up in my suggestions and while watching it i was like "that voice sounds familor" then i see what channel it is lol!
That guy talks a lot.
tsgmultimedia lol
That locomotive is spewing steam out of every nook and cranny 😲
Whats the sharpest radius corner she'll turn? Nice engine btw.
Not sure about this specific Heisler, but other Heislers have been run on curves as tight as 65° in the past.
Did the train get shorter at 6:50?

O boy the enginer gets out of the seat when the conductor is inbetween the cars
definetly didnt come here, from railroads online... XD
What type of motor powers No 40?
