in my current home town the museum burned down some time ago because of a faulty washing mashine. but atleast the Molly is activ in the Area and Roland.
@@buzzytrains9037 I wish I could see her in action, here in Queensland there’s a loco called No.6 (the one In my PFP) which sadly isn’t running due to covid (I think) and the rising cost of basically, everything, but I am looking forward to seeing her turn 160 next year.
I couldn't help noticing that the engineer, brakeman and fireman had a big smile on there face. That's got to be the best job in the world for a lover of steam.
Это что-то нереальное, я сначала подумал, что это на компьютере нарисовано. Какая работа! Сохранить такую реликвию в таком состоянии! Моё глубокое почтение
Awesome! I absolutely love the early steam locomotives, and Caroline is a gem! She looks and runs like brand new. This is time travel- that beautiful locomotive hauling an equally venerable train jauntily through the countryside, just as if it were still the 1860's. Flawless. Thanks for posting this!
Your opening scene looks as if a Time Traveler when back in time and made a video of what trains looked like in the late 1800's. fantastic footage, I enjoyed your video very much. I will be adding to my favorites to watch again. Thank you.
Lovely restoration and video. I thought we in UK had some of the best restored trains but we have nothing like this on our main lines. What an exhilarating journey it must of been.
Thankyou from Australia. Excellent cinematography and so pleasurable to see the old working locomotive and carriages. The museum is indicative of the persistence of the Norwegian people.
Now that is cool as heck, i have such a soft spot for these 150+ year old trains and seeing them operate in 2024 is amazing and something i couldnt imagine the builders thinking about when they 1st built that thing
Fantastic .... brilliant .... thank you so much!👍 If No.17 were a kitten or puppy, youd be up to 10m views by the end of today .... it's that cute!! That cab cannot be much larger (or much more complicated) than 3'-6" gauge Alf's. And those carriages .... the 4w ones remind me of those built in the UK for the North London Railway, way back in the 1860s. Superb restorations. And that traverser ... I've never seen one like it. The Norwegian Railway Museum just made my "bucket list"!! 🙂
There something evocative about steam trains in the snow ,, the condensation of steam , the way , because of cold temperatures and still air, the steam whistles travel far and wide ....a zen experience .. ;) ;)
Absolutely stunning... Wow! 1861 unbelievable. Caroline is such a pretty locomotive and she has much pulling power; A lot of love has gone into the restoration work, along with the coaches. The long shots of the train traveling through the snowy landscape reminded me of the train scenes in "Dr Zhivago". Well done to all involved. Thank you for posting.😊
Thank you so much for this video. Doesn't she look so wonderful chuffing cleanly through the snowy landscape. The locomotive is so beautiful with all the gleaming brass and intricate lining. The coaches are as neat as a pin too. I have never seen such an early locomotive running so freely on the main line. It could have been 1861. 😊❤
Was that a traverser taking the loco out of the shed? Yep. We still have one here in Ipswich but it is in the old Norwegian 3"6" gauge like most of Queensland Australia. Our oldest loco still running is the 1864 2-4-0, it make the same sort of noise. Lots of respect to those keeping these old things working.
What a magical winter journey with Caroline! The enchanting 1861 steam locomotive touring in 2024 is like stepping back in time. Thanks for sharing this beautiful and nostalgic experience!
Amazing locomotive - and glorious filming of the train steaming through the landscape too. Incredible to realise Caroline (from Robert Stephenson & Co) is only 32 years younger than Stephenson's Rocket!
Fantastic! My mother's great great uncle (and his brothers) worked for NER and Robt Stephenson Works in the 1870s - 1890s. I follow in their footsteps in signalling. lWow! I'd love to see that running in Norway.
What a touching sentiment that she actually has a name, I wish there was a cultural bleedover between the ship world and the train world that all engines would get actual names like their ocean going counterparts
Oh to have been a hiker in the hills that day! Imagine the thrill of seeing this gorgeous little engine and her carriages trundling through the snow-laden Norwegian forests below you! A feast for the soul!
An absolutely beautiful locomotive and a set of great period cars/wagons. A very nice piece of landscape to ride a train through. Makes one want to visit Norway just to take one of the excursions.
@@Aaron-uf3sl I have seen videos of Fairy Queen in operation, as of 2022 she was still operational, she is the oldest being from 1855. Another locomotive a few years older and operational is locomotive no. 28 'Genf' of the Swiss Central Railway or SCB, she is from 1858 and also has outings on the network sometimes.

What a fascinating little engine with its antique cars. Does every seat have its own door? Yes this is surely "the little engine that could" and a fast little engine too. So glad this little steamer and the antique cars were saved and restored. It would have been truly sad losing this piece of history. Thank you for sharing a most enjoyable video.
I watched this video and was filled with glorious happiness! Then I read many of the comments below, but they have said it all, so all best wishes to Caroline and the people who look after her and keep her so beautiful and efficient! 😀😀😀😀
Super film! Good to see such a lovely little locomotive alive and well - and the coaches are interesting, too - the four-wheelers are very similar to English stock of the 1870s. The tiny shunting tractor is a gem as well.
Merci à la Norvège pour ces belles images! Génial! Stéph. Takk til Norge for disse vakre bildene! Helt fantastisk! Stéph. Thanks to Norway for these beautiful images! Just great! Stéph.
It's always fascinating to see how traditional and classical designs were adapted to all these new forms, or in the least how new styles were created to keep these forms fit for the artist and architectural styles of their time. Steam locomotives, cars, steam ships, and skyscrapers were all these previously unseen forms, yet designers found ways to make them fit the artistic and architectural aesthetics of the era. It's really impressive.
What an absolutely wonderful thing to see such an early train out on the line and not sleeping in the museum, an excellent video thank you.
It seems that the train sleeps in the museum and sometimes enjoy a ride
in my current home town the museum burned down some time ago because of a faulty washing mashine. but atleast the Molly is activ in the Area and Roland.
Man, seeing a standard gauge locomotive from 1861 running on the main line is just gloriously beautiful
Truly, it is wonderful to see.
It really is, especially with our own victorian railways Y112 running about on the mainline every now and then.

And at a pretty decent clip, too! ~25 mph in that first clip (assuming a driver diameter of 4'-6"--I'm not sure what they actually measure)

Try looking at Stirling single no. 1 she is so beautiful
@ Totally agree the Stirling singles are the epitome of Victorian beauty….but Caroline is so pretty….
What a beautiful example of Victorian steam power my hat's off to the preservation team for doing such an amazing job
I cannot decide who is more beautifull, Caroline or her carriages. Thx for uploading.

What a beautiful engine in such pristine working order!
I'm genuinely impressed that such a small locomotive was able to pull such a long rake of coaches at that speed. Beautifully done!
Since I am a train lover. I am always happy to watch a steam locomotive train
Thanks.
Its not crawling along either, you guys are really hauling it! Love to see it!

There is a film from GCRofficial here on Utube of the Stirling single No.1 steaming in 1981

NOT being pushed by a diesel but running under it's own power and looking and sounding like it should.
