    Ever seen or heard of people exposing the film over the sprocket holes of a 35mm negative? Well, this is usually done by adapting 35mm film into a medium format camera, and in this video, I'm going to show you exactly how to do that. (with some tips and tricks along the way).
    For this shoot, I used the Mamiya RB67 with the 65mm f4.5, along with 2005 expired Jessop's colour film shot at box speed, but pushed 1 stop during home development.

    When using older 120 film camera's with red windows to see the frame number, you should mask the red window really lightproof. Otherwise you get blown-out circles on your photographs. I found out myself that ducttape is not lightproof enough, you can take a piece of household aluminum foil and tape that over the window.

    Thank you for joining me in destroying film borders! Did you know kodak and fuji have been pushing film borders for decades? They don't want us to know that we can shoot across the entire width of our film. Let's band together and stick it to the man! Show them we're not gonna be boxed in! If you want to dive deeper into my theory on why sprocketless is the norm, check out my comedic sprocket hole film photography-centic youtube shorts. I'm only getting 8 frames adapting 35mm into my Yashica TLR. IDk why it wants to space it out so much when using 35mm. What is jesspos color film. Those expired color shifts are bonkers cool! Thank you so much for sharing, SUBSCRIBED! I hate having to rant to the internet to plug my stuff, but I love sprockets and I gotta get the word out. See you on the scroll sprocket sibling!

    This is great. Thanks for the tutorial! I am assuming that all that film being exposed when you load it has to be wasted?

    • @MJLyon100
      @MJLyon100  3 роки тому

      Thank you! and you're welcome!
      No, so I load the film into the back whilst inside a dark bag, so no light can get in and expose any of the film :) you can also do it inside a dark room if you have access to one :)

    For the Horizontal photos, you had to tilt the camera 90 degres?

    • @MJLyon100

      Not with this particular camera! - The RB67 has a rotating film back so you dont have to tilt the camera! :)

    Hello. To do this is is mandatory to always use a tripod or can you shoot without one with this hack?

    • @MJLyon100
      @MJLyon100  3 роки тому

      Hello! - Not mandatory at all to use a tripod as long as you're shooting above 60th of a second, however, it was pushing into the evening when I filmed this, so I was going below that which is why I brought along a tripod :) hope that helps!

      Because some people like the look of 35mm? Maybe because is some places is easier to get 35mm film instead of 120 or 620? Maybe because it's cheaper?

      It gives a wider shot. Like an xpan. Also for aesthetic reasons. Like a digital photographer asking why in the world would anyone still use film? Well, why would anyone use 35mm on medium format? Because they feel like it.
