There are two 100% perfect syncs in this that blow my mind everytime. 1. The part where the lights change right when the baseline comes in. 2. The part where he turns back through the doorway and the singing resumes. Absolute perfection. We don't deserve Pink Floyd or Stanley Kubrick. Legends of their craft.
I dare see the future where they design the musical experience even more so, a room where you are not sitting or standing but floating and the lights are in cadence with the music....or not.Where the lights reach out to you in human form as you drift drift drift
I once had the opportunity to experience this in a theater that was closed for repairs. My friend's dad worked there and arranged it for a small group. It was incredible.
A pretty cool coincidence (spoilers ahead for 2061: odyssey three): the process by which a living person is converted into pure consciousness by the monolith is called "Echoing", and of course this song is called "Echoes"
This is the way this sync is supposed to be done, high quality video and the music starts at the correct time. You can tell at the end when the old man turns around right as the lyrics start back up. Well done, it’s a shame some other versions have more views because this is the definitive version.
I remember the first time I heard echoes and watched 2001, my film teacher showed this to the class. It was like you were mesmerized. You couldn't look away from the screen. Every time that beautiful piano and guitar played it had drawn me more and more into it. Lots of emotions went into this song. I cant think of any other song that stands out more than this does. Echoes is truly a piece of art and beauty formed into one
Having done this manually myself on VHS and CD, I know exactly the sync points to look for which illustrate good sync/bad sync. This is the best sync I've seen on UA-cam. The rest are really poorly done. If coming out of the tunnel into the spiral arms going into the bass-heavy groove, and the eye blinks against the guitar squeaks don't sync, it's a non-starter. This matches both points better than anyone's.

Pink Floyd’s music was really unique and unrivaled, that’s why. I certainly felt sad, nostalgic, and melancholic when I see this sequence with “Echoes” playing; without it, the movie was just emotionless and detached. Pink Floyd evokes raw emotions while Stanley Kubrick didn’t.

I agree that this is the best sync of all the other "2001 pink floyd" videos on UA-cam. The way I tell is that the proper place for the monolith visions (AKA the Special FX) to begin is after the vocals end on the second verse around the five minute mark. That way the long instrumental section takes up the entirety inside the monolith and the vocals begin again when Dave turns around and crosses the threshhold @ 19:11. Also, as someone else mentioned, all the blinks are on beat. All time marks achieved! This is really spot on, friend! Good on ya! really appreciate your attention to detail.
