We all jumped off stage and started buggin out to it. We turned round and 1000s of festival goers decided to join in. The sound engineer killed the track halfway through because we had to sound check. We all refused to sound check until the the track had finished. He conceded. A good friend of mine who loved this record recently passed away, then this randomly pops up on my recommended viewing! No idea how that works but thanks YT 👍.
I remember seeing them support Happy Mondays on the Mondays 'Yes Please' tour at Brixton Academy and they blew the Mondays away. To be fair the Mondays were on their last legs of that era at that particular time, but that's not to take anything away from the Stereo MC's performance. Great live band.
I saw Stereo MC's in Brisbane in 2001. It was a good gig but the main thing I remember was Rob Birch spent the whole time singing to lighting rig. I don't know if he was cold or was on something but he spent the whole gig standing and dancing in front of the lights with his back to the audience. Sounded great.
Such a great song. I saw them live as the first band opening for Peter Gabriel's WOMAD tour of 1993 in SF Golden Gate Park. . Stereo MC's were followed by Crowded House, then Ziggy Marely before Peter Gabriel. Surprisingly, Connected was the opening song for Stereo MC's. I was already into Stereo MC's at the time, while being a huge Crowded House and Peter Gabriel fan. As a new band, Stereo MC's exceeded my expectations. I definitely remember they were on top of their game and had a clear live mix! They were so good, I was a bit worried Crowded House would have a tough time as a follow up act. Every band was tight and clean !!

They were great guys, but I lost touch with them soon after their success.
When you say "drastically changed their music style" did you know them in a previous group called Scatter?
Was going into a local record shop at the time to buy the single. On my way in I met a DJ friend who told me the whole record was gold, so I bought it. He was not wrong. Then saw Stereo MCs at an outside festival the summer of -93, still best dancing concert I've attended
This song is amazing, I am from Eastern Europe and have been living in UK for a long time, this song is the best song from English speaking world to me, well done and thank you!
A good friend of mine who loved this record recently passed away, then this randomly pops up on my recommended viewing! No idea how that works but thanks YT 👍.
Read the book '1984' by George Orwell...then you 'll know how it all works...
Their live gig was very impressive. very lucky for having the opportunity to see their live performing
Every band was tight and clean !!
all I'm going to say is mildly jealous :)
I was one of the sound techs on that tour - I remember being blown away by the MC's, totally unexpected too.
@@philipbarrett3151You did a fine job as part of the sound tech crew ! Thanks for your part in making great sound the whole day. I think that was my first concert with the "pencil" P.A. speaker system. They were suspended by cranes! haha It was also my first experience of what I call "hyper compression" from the FOH mix (used in all events today). 🔊
@@rickshearer Thanks! I was just a tiny cog in a big wheel. That was the Turbosound Flashlight PA, very complicated to rig & fly but sounded sublime. In truth we were expecting about 25K - 30K ppl at GGP & a 100K of you showed up. We felt like we'd brought a knife to a gun fight but the audience were so cool no one cared.
I went to Womad in SF. That was an awesome day!
Remember the beginning of the 90s as that the looks of a artist wasnt that important as it is today . 90s were pretty fun to me .
Gives chills EVERY time! Way ahead of its time, Rob is amazing! 🔥🔥🔥
Damn. Good times at the club's with this in Dallas Texas.
happy days for you, it is largely European, were you one of those boys that didn't wear a cowboy hat and say yee-ha at girls ?
@. Lol. You got it.
Love this song. My ex hated it so I always played it extra loud.
you are a very naughty person :)
lol
haha
I met them at a house party in north london back in early 90's
Ex: "If you don't stop playing that song, I'm out of here!"
DARKKISS: "Gonna do it again."
Ex: "Excuse me?!"
DARKKISS: "Gonna do it again."
@@thegrimyeaper I don't think we've connected, could you do it again, please ?
I am into heavy Music but i just love stereo Mc’s, man! His vocals are great... the beat.... the lyrics...
One of the first, if not the first song i recorded from the radio back in the day. The night of the day my dad got his Sony "ghetto blaster". Thanks for posting, thanks for the music Stereo MCs
Man I have just been through hard times like us all, however it was the stumbling I needed to address, clever dude and thanks for amazing advice and a classic tune that will always be relevant.
Such incredible insight! What a group what a song!
These guys were great! One of the coolest records of the era.
I had the pleasure of having a friend who was an engineer at Loco recording studio and I was present while Stereo MCs worked, I was a huge fan and still am .. wonderful memory being around history as it happened. Cheers
Connected-The Single and Album....Total brilliance....no fillers.....Creation is my fave
My goodness me, these guys.. unchanged apart from having lived in a brisket smoker since 1992😂😂
brisket smoker is an american insult, it makes no sense in dutch or english :)
Wm Tarr really, wow thats grape.
@ Must do in English...Try..I want to know😏
@@X64835 it is, as far as I can tell, an old 44 gallon oil drum cut in half that people in the southern USA states use for cooking food, slowly, for a long time. I think the original insult was "this is all too old and boring to interest me, a USA, citizen"
Hilarious!
Still a great fkin tune. Can't believe it's 30 years ago though!
This was my freshman yr of high school and a song I STILL LOVE today!
Right on! My senior year
The music of the Stereo MC's brought me much joy. Props.
Top 2000 your work, visiting these people, letting them speak honestly, will, I think, be on record as serious archival work, please continue. Obviously if it is work then the fun element is removed, please continue having fun *and* working :)
Wm Tarr I’m also a huge fan! Great work! 👍
No worries Tarr, even after all these years we still love doing what we do!
@@diskopoko you could try selling your work back to the other nations, you have done better than the BBC TV in many cases (I mainly listen to radio in the UK, BBC R6 for this)
Thanks!
4:29 so beautifull, they finish each other sentences. almost cried
It's called interrupting. Manners, manners dear.
@@ixlnxs Yeah, I was being sarcastic, lol. I have more important things to cry for. These half a dozen of likes have to be from goodwill people, though. And that is very nice (no sarcasm here).
Incredible positive Energy is what I remember. A small venue in S.F. (92/3?) Of the many shows I've been to,this one was special. Diverse crowd,no fights, phones or drama.
I wasn't into this eras music at all but this song is a masterpiece. The best song of its genre and era
This tune is a banger! Big up smcs xxx
