DRZ 400 sound of backwards vacuum plate FCR 39

The engine was turned over while the cam chain was lose at the bottom of the engine and the camshafts were removed. At the same time, the carburetor was changed to a used FCR 39MX. The bike runs like crap, although the chain was recovered and the clearances are right in the middle of the ranges. The vacuum plate of the fcr 39 was backwards and caused the odd sound.

Did you ever figure this out. i dont want to scare you but it almost sounds like your timing is off and you got a valve hitting the piston or something.

The vacuum plate in the carb was installed backwards.. lol no damage fortunately.
