  • AS WITH ALL MY VIDEOS I TRY TO GIVE THE MOST INFORMATION IN THE LEAST AMOUNT OF TIME AS POSSIBLE SO I DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. IN THIS VIDEO I GO OVER HOW TO CONVERT A NATURAL GAS GRILL OVER TO PROPANE. THIS CONCEPT IS THE SAME FOR ALMOST ANY GRILL IRREGARDLESS OF BRAND. THIS VIDEO WILL ALSO BE HELPFUL TO CHANGE FROM PROPANE TO NATURAL GAS THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE COMPONENTS THAT NEED TO BE SWAPPED. I ALSO GO OVER HOW TO REPLACE THE BATTERY IN THE ELECTRIC IGNITER OR THE IGNITER ITSELF ALONG WITH OTHER HELPFUL TIPS.

    I was a bit unsure about converting my NG Weber grill to propane but after watching your video I gave it a shot and guess what? It worked just the way you described it. Thanks for including the wrench sizes and part numbers. It saved me a lot of time. And your emojis were in the right spots too. It took me about 45 minutes from start to finish to convert to propane. Thanks again.

    Great video!
    Just picked up Napoleon ng, needs conversion. You’re right manufacturers want no part of conversion. I’ve converted patio heater and fire pit from propane to ng during Covid. In both cases I found a corresponding btu orifice size chart, bought cheapest orifices on Amazon and drilled them out to proper size. Intentionally saved originals to be able to revert back.
    Only a couple of other comments: no need for pipe dope on any of the fittings. In fact most grill manuals tell you no pipe dope or Teflon. The seal on flare fittings is not related to the threads and the pressure at the orifices is minimal and snug with wrench is more than adequate. While you appeared to apply minimal dope, for rookies they have a good chance of clogging fittings with residual. Not a criticism, just a comment.
    Great job, thanks!

    Great video. Helped immensely. Two comments. On my E435 Genesis, I chose the more difficult of the options you recommended. But what made it easier is to take the burners out of the white ceramic igniters. Another comment is to specify if possible the hose to regulator flare fitting. I damaged mine trying to grip it with channel locks so spent sometime figuring out if I need a Fl to Fl fitting or a FIP one end would work. But over all, excellent video!

    First off, THANK YOU! I ordered the orifices and they worked/fit perfectly. So far so good. Only issue I had with process was one of the orifices broke tightening it in and replacing [5/16 worked but needed 7mm to remove existing Weber Natural Gas orifices]. Scared the heck out of me!! But I was able to get it out using a small flat head and replaced it with another one. Also, the process seemed a lot easier with Genesis Spirit II. I was able to access the orifices underneath the regulators. I thought it was too good to be true but it was very easy access. Just had to remove the flame/burners. Long story short, I bought this grill at yard sale and had absolutely no idea they even made natural gas grills and thought it was a total loss. I did some research and found this video and will start cooking and using it in the upcoming weeks to make sure all is good. Replaced hose with Blackstone propane hose from Walmart and looks great. I just want to find something to hang the propane tank from the grill itself now and I'll really be good! Not sure if Natural gas prices are high everywhere but in CA, the prices have almost tripled and would be a great idea for those with the same or similar grill.

    • @diydan7019
      @diydan7019  Рік тому +1

      A different flow valve is not necessary. The flow valve is what controls the volume of propane making it through to the office just like a garden hose hose bib with volume. However, the orifice being a lot smaller than natural gas is what makes the restriction my flame is variable from low to high without a problem.
