What I love about your vids is the thorough breakdown from the producing side of things and what it takes to make it happen. Plenty of lighting channels around and on Patreon but this side of things is always skipped.
Great work and great channel!!! I’m amazed by your own on-it-ness with what you do. And most importantly I’m impressed how you gather energy and will to make such quality content here, on UA-cam in between your gigs! Keep on!
Thanks for making the content Scott. Been a bit of a generalist filmmaker over the last decade and have recently ended up in house at an agency doing similar work with access to higher budgets. After discovering your channel and seeing similar workflows/ standards it's reassuring me that I'm on the right path. All these insights are incredibly useful, looking forward to seeing more.
You’re very welcome James! There’s definitely and some times annoyingly not just one path in this industry though. Where ever you go it always ends up leading to somewhere else interesting later down the line :)
This is interesting. It just goes to show how many moving parts there are (or aren't) in a production, how a director without a producer ultimately has to keep track of it all, and then stay calm in the process. It also shows how relationships are key to hiring people and finding those good working relationships. I appreciate the info and break down.
As someone who works as a performing musician, but very often has to play the producer/co-director role in making extreme budget music videos, this is a super duper helpful look into a world I know very little about. Seriously, being shown the breakdown of usual costs and which roles are useful to fill/needed to be filled gives me such a "ah-hah!" moment. I am absolutely going to subscribe - thanks
Looks great. This was all too relatable. Always difficult when you feel like you are putting yourself through the grind only to realise its for the financial benefit of a company who can afford it. Definitely not easy turning down work but having done it a lot recently, it's massively rewarding in the preserved headspace!
Love this! My niche is working with tiny metal bands, so budget is very tight 😂 thankfully they’re all very lovely people and I have a great AC who loves to help out!
I absolutely love this video - so detailed in every way. This is helpful for me as i’m trying to figure out how to work within limited budgets sometimes for shoots.
Thanks for another great bts vid! Your style is very relaxing. BTW how are you getting that glow off your white shirt and face in the talking heads? Gives it a very dreamy feel. Is it a physical filter?
You’re welcome mate! I probably went to heavy on the filter, would have probably been a 1/2 ProMist or 1/2 glimmer normally when I shoot these. Occasionally I shoot them clean
I hope this video serves as a good reality check into how Stressful Music Video Production and Video Production can be even at a 35k budget and expectations at a 4k budget.
Hey Scott! Just discovered your channel. How have I not come across it before?! Loved seeing this perspective from a fellow filmmaker on UA-cam. Sub'd!
Holy crap, hats off... or hats on to you good sir. This is a lot of weight to deal with. Time constraints are the worst. You should have seen if better help would have sponsored this video lol.
Another great video! Would love to know/see a video on your camera set up, how you film if you’re on your own. How you pull focus, what you see in the monitor etc.
Thanks Jon! As in you’re interested in my setup when it’s me talking to camera for UA-cam? Or me shooting this lower budget video example without a 1st AC?
hi! great work! i have one question, in the 35k budghet video the top light is in 5600K? i see the 3200 or something in the background but the key light is white not warm i guess? and if it is, why?

I'm learning so much!

Great video and insight Scott
This was amazing, these are my favorite kind of videos you make 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Once again killing it!
it seems like you really give your best for every project! Very good video.
Thanks Peter :)
The bigger budget shoot looks a lot more fun and a lot more stressful at the same time! 🤣 Both looks really fun though!
The level of this breakdown (and the rest of your videos) is outstanding, well done mate!
Thanks Guido 🙏🏻

Amazing channel, discovered it a couple days ago and binged every video. Love the directness about what goes into the production of your videos.
Thanks Christian, very much appreciated mate!

Me watching with my less than $100 budget.

@@ScottPetersFilms yeah the set up ok the lower budget with an AC 👍
The Lower budget video was more appealing, I feel with a 35000 budget I’m making multiple videos
subbed. just wow
Thanks buddy 😊
Amazing Video, as a pro in the US I am not familiar with a crew position called Sparks, what do they do on set?
Would they just be called an electrician on set there? Working under the gaffer in the lighting department.

which one is worse, weddings or music videos?
Weddings - so much pressure
Such a good video mate! Can I ask where your source images for treatments?
A few different places, I actually made a video about it here: ua-cam.com/video/CdmVTi5gtE0/v-deo.html
@@ScottPetersFilms Watching now. Great channel by the way man. UK Lewis Potts!
