If you ever hear something like this in real life, it shocks you. It is SO loud, no video can capture what it actually sounds like. It's crazy how loud it is, and how it vibrates.
I can believe that! A year or two ago I was out when a military aircraft flew quite low directly overhead ( they were doing drills at the time). The power of the engines literally made the ground shake and you could feel the reverberation in your ribcage. The lion’s roar as you describe would have to be close to that power! I get the feeling that the lion here was not fully opening his pipes and he could roar louder than this if he was angry or upset.
I saw one up close and let me tell you. Nothing like you hear it on tv. It sounds like a tractor or one of those old ford trucks cranking up. I don't know how someone is supposed to run hearing that. You'd freeze up. It's LOUD
Fun fact: Lions roar with their voice to the ground making it travel a further distance and making it a lot louder. For reference the Lions roar is around 114 Decibels which is just about the same as a bolt of lightning and some can reach roars as loud as jet engines.
What an exagerrated claims, jet engines are far more louder than this Vocal tract, i mean you can still hear a plane at 20,000 ft and there's a lot of wind blocking the sound and you can still hear it even at the parties
I heard one when I was 11(ish) at the SF Zoo. I am now 53 and have NEVER heard anything close to it. It was loud, thunderous, vibrating and you felt it in your chest and ears. I hope to one day hear it again🦁
I was lucky enough to witness a lion's roar in the zoo in my hometown with nothing but a shallow ditch of water between us. I will never forget this feeling. It brings a memory to life that's not a personal one, but one inscribed into our genes as a species. The memory of falling prey to a superior animal and getting eaten.
@@ezekielshorizon6 Exactly! I remember this vid where a tiger cub snuck up behind it's mother and she jumped in absolute fear when she turned around and it was right there just like "Hey mom!"
There was a big male doing this at the Phoenix Zoo when I was there and he was on the other end of the zoo a long long way away. It towered over every other sound. Awesome.
Years ago at the San Diego zoo. A lion roared like this and we were just right next to him over the fence I swear my ears was ringing for a week afterwards!
You can't imagine how powerful a lion roars, I remember once at the zoo in Morocco, I was watching One of the rarest types of lions called the Atlas lion, or the Barbarian lion . Suddenly, one of the lions made a huge roar, until today I won't forget that roar. It was so strong that I felt my lungs vibrate because of the power of the sound. It was majestic and scary too.
This is scary. Imagine how the yard birds in your own backyard tremble at house cats when they step in the backyard. The birds fly away and squirrels and every other animals splits pronto.
I was in the SF Zoo lion house at feeding time with male lions on each end of the building. They both started to roar and you had to cover your ears. One of the most awesome things I've ever heard.
This sorta gives you an idea of how loud it is. It seriously thuds in your chest it’s so loud. And if you aren’t expecting it, it does something to your knees that make them want to run away with or without you. It’s really scary in person.
bruh that tiger roaring in the background sounds like a big kitty. The lion roaring off camera completely drowned out the tiger's roar lmao. No wonder a lion's roar can travel miles. Undoubtedly the most terrifying animal sound. Imagine ur in the African grasslands in the night and you hear a couple of lions roaring. Jeez i'd shit myself.
I heard the lion roar in Lisbon zoo, I was little and couldn't believe what I was hearing. The lion was literally on the other side of the zoo and the roar was like the ambience sound everywhere, it was something truly amazing.
Around five years ago, we went to the zoo for the first time. My dad offered eating hotdogs at the entry before going in for the trip. While we were at it, we heard a roar. I dropped my hotdog at the sound, it was scary as hell. A very deep, vibrating, loud roar that still sends shivers down my spine when i remember it. I remember breaking into a cold sweat at the sound, it got me shivering under the blazing sun. Unfortunately, we never got to fully see the majestic creature, just a glimpse of it's beautiful golden mane. Still, it's a memory i can't forget.
Right I always thought part of the reason lions look so intimidating is because of their manes. Even my brother once told me he thinks male lions look more scary then lionesses and seem more intimidating because of their huge manes. I'm pretty sure both male and female lions are just as frightening and dangerous and male or female no one would want to come across one in person. A difference is the male lion is bigger in size and has a huge mane he's iconic for. Yes lions are the king of the savannas because they have the loudest roar in the savannas. 💯
it would be a 50/50 shot for a lion who lived in a zoo all its life to be put in the wild. it has been done before and most lions die of lack of food or get killed by other lions
