I think it’s so important to highlight that it can be so dangerous to leave your baby in a car seat for extended periods of time, due to their airway being squashed. It’s fine if you’re running into the shop etc but really if out on walks or a longer shopping trip a carrycot is really recommended as lying flat is best for a babies breathing! (Not meant as a troll like comment at all I just wanted to highlight the safety aspect of it)
I thought this too as soon as she said she always used the car seat. It’s not recommended, and a carry cot is the safest option so the baby can lie flat. My 4.5 month old is still in her carry cot
Yes! I just came to say this! I know when I was pregnant, I would watch loadssss of these videos, so I’m glad someone has said this to give a heads up to first time mummies 😘
Couldn't agree more. Plus a newborn is more comfortable lying flat. The bones and spine of a baby are still so soft and being curled up rather than lying flat can have long lasting affects on their skeletal system. It's worth taking five minutes extra to set the pram up. However clunky.
To any first time mum watching this take it with a grain of salt everyone is so different and our needs are to. Unfortunately you won't know until after baby is hear what you will actually use. I loved my muslin blankets. My best advice is stay with the basics and wait till baby has arrived to purchase things you're unsure about.
Yes!! I got bored and didn't watch the whole video but for instance, I saw Water Wipes on the thumbnail. My youngest has pretty severe eczema and every other wipes we bought all broke his bottom out with a rash. Water Wipes are the only thing I can use on him. I don't know if she means you can use a cloth with water and that's true too but I don't have time to wash and sanitize the cloths.
thats a really good advice for new moms! stay with the basics, even clothes, cause once you have your baby with you, you will know what are your truly necessities
We have a Moses basket, it was given to us by friends, and it was essential! She wouldn't sleep in a big cot at first at all, so it was essential for night. But also it's where she sleeps during the day for naps - I wouldn't know where else to put her down for naps in the living room that is safe and follows all the safe sleep guidelines (I don't think a baby nest is recommended for sleep). So I definitely don't regret the Moses basket!
Just want to mention that everyone told me to bite my first sons nails instead of using clippers and now he is older he has a nail biting habit which we cannot get him out of! Just make sure you stop biting them before they realise how to do it themselves. I wish someone had told me this! xxx
This actually makes sense. I’ve gotten a nail clipper and nail file for my baby due soon, but my mother also said to just bite the nails. I have struggled with nail biting myself for YEARS! And still (29years later) get into a biting period that lasts a few months before I can get myself to stop again.. really annoying. Thank you for mentioning this so I could see the connection!
I don’t like that systems like Doona encourage people to leave their babies in car seats for too long- as others have pointed out it’s not good for them. My 5 month old is still using the carrycot part of her travel system (day time naps in the living room as well as when outside) and we will convert it to a pushchair at 6 months or when she’s sitting up. But it is a kinda heavy pram so we may sell the system and get a lighter pushchair/buggy as we have already been using a different car seat anyway. We got it second hand and had plenty of use so I wouldn’t say I regret it but I don’t think it’ll suit us going forward. I regret buying swaddle bags as she preferred having her arms free so we stuck to blankets until she was big enough for a sleep bag.
How does the doona encourage u to keep ur baby in a car seat for hours and hours?? Especially when u have a newborn, parents aren’t out of the house for that long
They say to use water wipes because most of the knock offs also have those chemicals that you’re trying to avoid. I’m not being paranoid- read the ingredients! You might as well be using normal baby wipes🤷🏻♀️
Water wipes are so much better than any other own brand version I’ve tried. And let’s be honest…anything that makes nappy changing easier is worth the pennies!
The reason for carrycots is that small baby’s shouldn’t be in a car seat for longer than 20/30 mins (still only 2 hours even when they are bigger) because of their lungs/spine/pelvis development. I think the best combination is a 0-4 car seat that can be used from birth and stays in the car and a small pram with carry cot (I have the bugaboo bee 5)
Very sturdy in comparison to other strollers that we had. I get a lot of compliments for it. My baby loves being in the bassinet, The ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx4qZutfp1y5CaTUcMTuFPbARE5u-8XLiE stroller comfortable. I like the rain cover and the white net that comes with it. I use the rain cover just to cover the car seat when it rains. If your front wheels don't turn well, make sure you lubricate.
I will mention that my first two babies didn’t like soft toys and stuffies but my third child… LOVED them and still does to this day. As a toddler couldn’t sleep without one. It shocked me his attachment. So I think it has to do with personality.
One of the most important things in the first 6 months is letting the baby lay down and move how he needs.. and thats the reason why you need to use cots.. Car seats may cause a lot of demage in your childs health as the spine problems, head shape problems..
The water wipes here was a huge succes No rash, redness But recently we got a free pack of pamper coconut.... best ones ever in the market Often even no need of diaper ointment etc ... it leaves a nice smooth layer ,but no stickyness or whathever A must try for every parent I think My little boy can't stand much products
Personally, I think the next to me crib will be good for me as I’m breastfeeding. If you’re getting up to make a bottle then fair enough it doesn’t matter anyway but for me all I’ll have to do is reach over and pick him up, turn my night light on and breastfeed. Won’t have to get out of bed at all and he’s easy accessible for feedings and changes etc
Everybody's list depends so much on their individual baby! I used to tell everyone that they HAD to buy a baby wrap and a swing because my first baby would not be put down in anything that wasn't in constant motion (swing, pram or car) so I carried him the majority of the time! And I literally don't know how I would have coped without those products. My second baby is the total opposite! Hated the swing. Couldn't get comfy in the carrier. Settles better when he's lying down on his own 🤯 Very low maintenance. My entire library of wraps/carriers hasn't seen the light of day this time 😅
I agree! Think it is definitely a good idea if watching a video like this to watch lots of others too as it shows everyone is very different. I think having a baby is one of those things where you just can’t predict what will work for you xxxx
I think you just got better at it 🌹I hold my kids a lot too it they're not in the stroller once my eldest started walking it made sense to not depend on the gadgets I love wearing them though, when I have to do dishes and they want to cuddle it's a win win haha
I love how different everyone's regrets are. I agreed with some and disagreed with some but that's the beauty of the diversity of the products we have our there now. We can find something for everyone most of the time ❤️ I think it just goes to show, don't buy too much or too expensive until baby comes along and you know what you and baby like or you notice what is missing that would make life easier for you personally. I think unfortunately you'll never escape parenthood having no purchase regrets as the next baby could come along and be so different and then you need to buy completely different things! I was surprised with the muslin swaddle blankets as I'm a massive fan but mainly to use to cover baby in car seat while in the car or out and also as a breastfeeding cover or surface cover if you want to put baby down on the floor etc. I think this is also the same with the next to me crib. It's quite a breastfeeding friendly product as you can just pull baby into you and feed whereas if you're already getting up for bottle feeds even if it's only to the other side of the room for the prep machine it probably doesn't make much difference! I would never buy the next to me cribs new though, only secondhand as brand new they are SO expensive for what they are! I think we got ours for about £70 in the end 😍 Love the fact that you're so confident about your own choices and what's been right for you xx
I’ve just started using the sleeping bag, love it!! He used to kick his blankets off (even tho I tuck them in) then wake up cold ALL the time. Sleeping bags all the way! Blankets for out and about xxx
I used muslin swaddles for burp rags, stroller cover from the sun (it’s more breathable), nursing cover, cover those dirty highchairs at restaurants, and the list goes on.
Blankets for our winter baby were a must have! Especially in an open world when you’re going in and out of shops and don’t want to take the pramsuit off each time!xx
Blankets were so wonderful for my 3 kids as babies for Canadian winters. I couldn't be stuck indoors all day every day, even if it was -30 C and have a newborn. I NEED daylight. Heat the pram up with a hot water bottle, put baby in layers and insulated snowsuit, take hot water bottle out, put baby in with nice heavy blanket and foot muff, see-through pram cover to protect again cold gusts of wind and out we go. Expecting twins in November and got a twin pram with big wheels. Starting from about 1 week newborn, 1 hour walking just to have glorious silence and sunlight. I NEED this and those blankets are important to keep babies warm.
I agree with most other then the pram one as it’s so easy to pop baby in a carrycot, also they need to be laid flat and not in a car seat. The other one I really want to stress is propping a babies bottle can be so dangerous so please don’t be tempted to do this, hold your baby and give them cuddles at feeding time, it’s good bonding time for them x
Please ignore these judgy people. Half of these issues and fears didn't exist on my first a decade back and everybody still doing good. 😅Our grandparents and old doctors were not wrong. People need to stop opinions change over time. Nobody is lecturing their own families for their choices. Love this video🥰Thank you..x
You are incredibly rational and realistic. I love it. We don't need ten thousand items for the baby. Im sure half that will be more than practical. Great video and advice.
Omg you should NEVER prop a bottle up like that!! Such a dangerous choking hazard and this does not follow responsive feeding principles at all. How are you supposed to know when you’re baby is full and satisfied when they’re essentially being force fed by gravity? Feeding should be a time for bonding with your baby, not propping the bottle so you can get on with something else 😢. Please if anyone sees this do not do this! Babies have died from having bottles propped up in front of them and parents falling asleep or getting distracted x
I regret buying a nappy bin it was good for in the night when they were a newborn so I didn’t have to go downstairs but in the long run we didn’t really use it. Also the tommee tippee bottles and electric steriliser. The mam bottles are so easy to sterilise in the microwave which I already had instead of buying a steriliser just so much easier xx
Really good video: expecting mum here. I learn much more about what my baby needs from these baby regret videos than the baby essentials or "must have" videos. Also, the more I watch them the more I feel like baby showers are a little bit pointless because of the amount of money that your friends will spend on stuff you didn't even know you will use?
I seriously think we should have baby showers 3-6 months after babies are born for this reason. I had never been around babies ever before mine was born and only had advice from our parents who hadn’t had babies around in 30 years. About 3-6 months in, I had a much better idea of what would be useful and nice to have.
I’m 35 weeks pregnant and now on mat leave due to medical issues, been watching UA-cam for helpful tips, this video is brilliant and, you’re just so adorable. New subscriber here! X
I was always too scared to use my car seat in the pram, my midwife said at that age they shouldn’t be in car seats for longer than 30 minutes so I always used the carrycot on the pushchair instead. I did however I hate the first one I purchased too and it was a bugaboo chameleon, second hand but it was too bulky and so hard to put together!
I never used a car seat either due to the safety aspect for the baby! Sometimes by the time they’ve been on a journey I think that’s long enough in it kind of thing!! Xx
I regretted buying a bassinet stroller with my second. Such a pain. Pretty but not practical because it had no cup holders. With my third I had a double with the ability for back seat to lay flat for baby and front was where toddler sat. I’m pregnant with my fourth now and I officially have a list of must haves for our stroller. 1) Needs to lay flat or near flat for baby’s first months. 2)Needs cup holders for me 3) cup holders for baby and tray, if it’s removable then better 4)needs a big storage basket. Over the years I’ve learned that I don’t mind a heavy stroller as long as it dos what I need it.
We didn't use an infant carseat with our second and ended up just doing a convertible carseat and I would wear our babe in a wrap or carrier for quick in and outs! It was so easy and my babe LOVED it and would stay asleep better than in the stroller! Plus, then you're hands free!
We got a twist and click nappy bin and now (7 months in) put the nappies in a nappy bag and then drop them in 😂 I also have a toilet duck gel think inside the lid to mask smells more. I refuse to pay £15 for a fancy nappy bag that twists 🙄😂
Anyway to make money off parents!! You got the right idea.. as the twists are just the same as the nappy bag material. Toilet duck inside the lid is genius!!
Incase you fancy revisiting, you can buy loooong rolls of the bin liner that you use to refill the casettes. It takes a little time but only a minute or two so isn't that inconvenient (: your way works too!
I didn’t bother buying a travel system and I’m so glad I didn’t. I have a joie minus stroller which lay flat when he was newborn and now he can sit up, it was £100 and the Juva car seat clips straight on. I love it, I am also a keen Walker so got an out n about nipper sport for running and hiking x
Agreed on the sleepsuitd and no need for outfits. But the Newborn carrycot worked perfectly and was a must for us as paediatric recommendations are that they don't spend too long in their car seats and it's best for them to be completely flat. So for long walks it was a must. Also the soft toys, I reckon that completely depends on the baby because our little one loves every single stuffed toy! He sleeps with one every night and wouldn't be without it. He also prefers them for his teething, and plays with them during the day. So you just never know.
The Joie Crome is a absolutely perfect pushchair from online 4 baby. Not too big and bulky or heavy. You can customise your travel system I got the joie ilevel car seat which can lay flat like a bassinet when fitted on the pushchair its a total game changer!!!
Great tip for the Milton steriliser!! I’ve bought this as well so gives me peace of mind I’ve got the right thing! Baby nail clippers lol!! Cut his nails while he’s sleeping then baby won’t be wriggling around? Lol! I find the baby nail clippers super useful as it has the clunky bit you can hold onto while clipping their diddy nails.
I have the Ickle Bubba Stomp V3 and think it was a brilliant purchase. My little girl is only 5 months and we've converted it into the stroller which she loves. We didn't use the car seat attachment on the pushchair as newborns are not meant to be left in an infant car seat for long periods. I highly recommend it due to the ease of assembly, the price and how lightweight it is 😊
I always used baby nail scissors on my daughter as I’ve seen infections on babies with the biting method. She now has a 4 month old son and I cut his nails the same way. I thought the baby nest was a waste of money but my daughter got one and my grandson has been sleeping through since he was 12 weeks. He LOVES it.
My baby is 4 weeks today and some of your regrets are actually essentials for us: 1) carrycot. Mila loves to sleep in it and we even take it into our living room so she sleeps in in during the day in the house 😅 perfect to move her around the living room (ours is big) keeping an eye on her and keep her away from cat’s attention (for this reason I prefer it to Dockatot). In the car seat baby is squashed and I always sit at the back of the car when my boyfriend is driving to keep an eye on her and check if she is ok - I’m paranoid that she might have difficulty with breathing in it. So car seat is my biggest nightmare 😂 2) nail clippers - we use them every other day. Use them when baby is SLEEPING, so she/he is not moving around. I wouldn’t use adult’s clippers - they are way too huge. I tried biting too and clipping was much faster and neater way of removing the nails. However, I’ve been a lash technician for years, so I must admit I have a very steady hands, maybe that’s why it’s easy for me to use clippers 🙌🏻. 3) swaddle muslins. I didn’t manage to swaddle Mila too, however I use swaddle muslins every day as: A) cover for the carrycot on the sunny day to keep the baby away from the sun B) “bed sheet” for carrycot and for Dockatot. C) blanket! It’s big, so you can play with folding it to create different levels of “warmth”. If you fold it once - it’s a perfect dat blanket, fold it 4 times - it’s a warm cosy evening blanket. D) Cover for breastfeeding. When you are breastfeeding outside, it needs to be discreet. Nothing better than swaddle muslin - it’s massive and covers you well. It also super light, so baby is not hot snd can breath well under it. I use all my 3 swaddle muslins (I bought a pack of 3) every single day and don’t know what would I do without them 😅 I didn’t realised that cheaper version of water wipes can be bought from any shop - will definitely try it. So far I tried normal baby wipes and Water wipes and prefer water wipes as they are more moisty and clean better - less skin rubbing.
@@anasafa7951 yes, fully reclined stroller is absolutely fine. However, carrycot has borders, so baby doesn’t need to be clipped in, which makes it a but easier for you and cosier for baby ❤️
We have the Cybex cloud z car seat and it’s amazing. We use it with the Cybex Priam pram but it is compatible with loads of different brand prams. It has a rotating base and can lie flat when it’s on the pram so it’s safer for baby to be in longer. Our 3 month old loves it and has always been so happy in it since birth.
I don’t regret getting our Moses basket it’s a god send I have a dog and felt safe leaving her sleeping in the Moses basket whilst I made a bottle in the kitchen etc. We got our next to me cot from my sister in law who had it for our nephews, because she was so tiny she didn’t like being in the next to me m, we used the Moses basket for the first 3/4 weeks. I used her carry cot from her pram for in my mums house for when she was tiny because she was so settled in there
I loved my baby towels and used them for ages and also blankets to keep them warm when out in their carrycots. I used to dress mine every day too, babygros were just for bed! And I can't imagine propping a bottle up for a 4 month old baby! It's bonding time for you both. If you're under a 10.5 tog duvet in the winter too then how is your baby going to be warm enough in a 3.5 tog sleeping bag? 🤷🏻♀️.
Mamaroo is good when you have older kids. Baby happy sat and watched big kids playing. I saved mine from baby number 2, lent to my sister and now have it back for baby number 3 so getting moneys worth.
I love how everyone loves/regrets different things! I have the ickle bubba stomp v3 and we used the carrycot SO much on walks around where I live and I love that the weight limit on it is higher than most strollers so will last until an older age 😊
I’m so glad to see this comment! I’m due in 9 weeks and have the V3 stomp and was panicking it was rubbish! I think it’ll suit our lifestyle but I’m still a bit worried 😅
@@lisahooper5814 every baby is different ☺️ we have the same one and our little girl doesn't really like laying flat in the carrycot so I do the same as Shan and just have her in the car seat attached to the stroller and take her out every now and then if it's a really long walk but I do like the travel system as a whole. I have 2 friends with the same one and both of their little ones love the carrycot. You'll only really know when your little one arrives as to what they like or don't. Don't be put off and also as they grow they like things they hated at first or the other way around 🤣
I’m due in 5 weeks and was a bit nervous after this as this is the travel system I’ve bought. I hope I get on with it as even though it was on the cheaper side of travel systems it was deffo not cheap!
I find that having a car seat that is able to recline once you are out of the car meets the best of both worlds. I am using the cybex cloud z with the yoyo stroller.
Water wipes (brand) and other 99% water wipes do not have the same ingredients. I strongly suggest reading the ingredient list before suggesting that they are. We used them only when going out of the house, use water and wool at home! :) Also, having baby in a car seat for more than 2 hours requires an hour break in between, as it may hurt their physical development, as well as lungs. Baby swaddle blankets are great for summer babies to be used as blankets. Used them for 2 years straight with my first kiddo :) Some baby nests can be used overnight, some can't, always check. I think sleepy nest can be, but always check. Otherwise, I agree a lot! P.s. bottle dryer is great for people who bottle-feed using breastmilk, as it doesn't need sterilising. If you're formula feeding, then it makes sense not to be using a drying rack! :)
Agree, i looked up the water wipes she recommended from Aldi and they are not 99.9% water at all! They actually have lots of chemicals. Definitely need to read the ingredients. Can i ask how you did the water/wool in terms of practicality? (did you have like a bucket of water on standby?) Lol. I want to do this but feel like going back and forth to collect and empty water might be a big hassle.
@@lydia5164 I literally had two small plastic tupperwares placed one next to another, one with sterilised water (just boiled and chilled), another one with nappy bags (I used naty, both nappies and the bags), so before I changed the baby, I would have the bag open. Then wipe, bag, wipe, bag, you get the gist of it. And a small bin. And every morning, I would refresh the water and empty the bin. It goes without saying, but just in case, no double dipping! One cotton wool per one dip lol
OMG the baby nail clippers! I am still traumatised from cutting a baby's finger with these when I worked as a nanny! For my own baby I will 100% be using a nail file. This video was really helpful xx
First baby due in august and I’ve got a Moses basket for downstairs for day times to keep baby and my little dog apart! I know they don’t last too long but thought it was quite good to have something to keep doggy happy and keep her space on the sofa haha xxx
Travel cots are always a good option if you have the space! You can get them with the changing topper on. They're LIFE SAVING! And as baby gets bigger they can interact with dog safely when you're not in the room as they can sniff and see through the mesh bit can't pull on the doggy xx
Iv got the doona and I think it was the best decision I made. No carryinga heavy car seat into the house to put my baby inside if I’m some where it can fit in the hall way without taking up so much space. Once my baby is done with it I plan on getting a light weight stroller
I loved my bottle drying rack, i sterilised my bottles and all my pump parts in the washing up bowl with cold water and milton fluid. There were bottles and flanges and parts everywhere i needed a separate area for them!
As an unexpected NICU mum.. they ask for popper baby grows rather than zips so the baby can be clothed and wires can come through. With zips the baby’s grow cannot be done up. So if you are an expectant mother and like the idea of zips, maybe think of taking some poppers too just incase. :)
Thank you for highlighting bottle feeding and talking about sterilisers, it's so hard to find information out there! I am scrapping the electric steriliser I planned to buy and going with the one you bought!
I got a freerider wrap because of one of your videos but I love mine and so does my little girl who is now 4 months old and we still use it daily!! Once you’ve got the hang of wrapping it, it’s amazing it’s how we go shopping and she loves looking around because she’s so nosey xx
The sleepyhead was a godsend for me. I don’t know if I’ll ever have another baby but for my son is was the Best Buy (and I got it secondhand). I have never understood prep machines for bottle feeding, it’s so easy to make a bottle of milk, they’ve just always seemed like a waste of money to me
Great video, but I disagree with the pram, babies should always be laying flat when out for walks etc, long periods of time in the carseat is dangerous. They sleep so well in a pram, if your visiting anyone they can nap in the pram, some are even safe for over night sleeping if you stay away from home. I love my Moses basket, my 3 month old has all her day naps in hers in our living room, means that she has learnt to sleep through all noise (essential when you have a toddler also lol)
The point of the hooded towels is because babies lose most of their heat from their head, infants lose heat quickly, and can't keep themselves warm. Just get a larger size hooded towel. I bought large ones myself
Alot of your regrets are my must haves 😆 swaddle blankets, bottle drying rack (also use for pump parts!), baby wrap (used the boppy comfyfit almost everyday), blankets (used them for car seat during winter and on the floor for tummy time), nail clippers (his big toe nails were long and weirdly soft. The electric trimmer couldnt cut them), microwave sterilizer bags (used a ton when he had runny nose. I dont havea sterilizer and dont sterilize regularly) , rectal thermometer (it gives the most accurate reading and thats what you want when they have a fever. This was essential after his shots and his temp spiked!)
I’ve ordered the Jané Matrix car seat, it can lie flat so it’s both the car seat and carrycot for the pram! It can lie flat on the isofix in the car too.
I would never put my tiny newborn into an ergo… that’s why I got a wrap so I could use it first few weeks when they baby is so fragile. I love my Ergo when the baby gets bigger
I’m so surprised about the wrap! I bought a wrap from Aldi for £20 and must have used it almost every day (baby now 2 months)! Was definitely hard at first but once I knew how to wrap it it was the best thing ever to get the washing up done or walk the dog! I’ve got 2 baby carriers shoved in a drawer untouched 😂
As a breastfeeding mum.. the next2me was amazing!! I’d hate to get out of bed to pull baby into my bed to lay down and feed to get up to have to put baby back.. I’m lazy lol I just slid baby over😂😂
Snuzpod was absolutely utterly life changing. I exclusively breastfeed so... as above. I never have to get up out of bed. And he frequently nightwakes and we co-sleep
You should look into the Cybex Cloud Q or Z. They are car seats that can lay flat (unless in the car) and compatible with many brands of strollers. The benefit is that the baby can lay flat (which they should be doing as other comments have stated) but you wont need a carry cot.
Nuna pipa lite rx (carseat)/nuna pipa next stroller. All interchangeable. You can use the carseat as a stroller forward and rear facing and same with the stroller. The stroller has a newborn position all the way up to toddler forward facing position. I researched stroller-carseat options for 2 months. So happy with this system. The wheels are durable and go over every terrain. The suspension on the frame is great. The rx lite carseat can also be used with the base or without a base and just a seatbelt if you are in a car, plane etc and its the lightest on the market at the time I purchased it. It also has a shade canopy for sunny drives and the stroller has an expanded canopy with peek-a-boo windows on the sides and the top of the stroller. Best baby purchase ever. I agree with all of these regrets…too many clothes and too many hooded towels. 😊
Most of your regrets I use every day 😄 every baby is different...I love blankets to use during the day not Swaddle, I use nail clippers just fine , it's really easy when they are asleep, I found it really hard to bite their nails. Also use the baby nest during the day for naps 😴 just to name a few 🤷♀️
Good to note it’s not recommended to leave a baby with bottle propped up like that, they don’t have the opportunity to have a break from feeding, take in air or stop feeding when then have had enough so maybe just don’t prop up any bottle to feed a baby and leave it there
Popper vests too I hate I’m in love with Velcro vests they literally Velcro all the way round they are amazing for weight clinic or doctors appointments when needing to get undressed
The sleepy heads are completely worth the money in my opinion both my children used it every single day when babies it was £125 and I have used it for 4 years, ! I even took it on holiday with me and used it on the sun beds lol also have a steam steriliser that I used for both of them too ! It’s great when you purchase things that stand the test of time 😊
Hey I’m thinking of getting one but have seen some conflicting advice - do you have to supervise them at all times when they’re in the sleepyhead? Thank you ☺️
@@shannonryan32 hey ! Mine have always slept in it , but I know they say not to and just for day time naps but Iv had it for a long time and think the guidance has changed since my daughter was new born xxx
After 3 children, we have never had a baby capsule to take the baby from, the car to the pram. We had 0-8yo car seats for each babe, then would baby wear them then out mostly. Prams are awesome for exercising and walking at pace / running. At the shops, baby wearing is so much more convenient. You can push a regular trolley and manage the extra kids easily. Jack the baby in and they resettle straight to sleep if they were sleeping, or can BF if wanting to, or just be happy close to mum or dad. It's the best!! We miss that now they're older and all want to walk... 😒 🤣
FYI Babyzen yoyo2 does have a car seat and adapters for lots of other types of car seats too fit onto too so don’t always have to get their one :) thanks for the video
Also want to add your swivel seat isn’t being used correctly straps should come from below the shoulders when rear facing looks like you’ve taken some of the inserts out to soon as well
The joie pram range is amazing they are more affordable and come in all ranges! Don't recommend doonas the car seat isn't a safe car seat and baby's shouldn't spend to much time in a car seat, please research. love you btw!
We use muslin swaddles or tetra towels in place of bibs. We have a muslin blanket for her because she is born in the end of spring for the “colder” days. We got a used next to me crib but we didn’t trust it because she rolled over consantly soinstead we were/are allowed to use a wooden crib (not a play crib but a baby bed until 6months) from a family member. (We don’t want to set up her baby bed yet because we can move any moment. (We are waiting for the renters to get out) We didn’t want a Mamaroo at first because it is expensive. But we didn’t get her quiet in anything except in a Mamaroo. So we bought one.
My baby pooped on the nursing pillow the other day, and I’ve literally been lost without it! I bought a new one straight away 😂 My baby naps on it during the day, I sleep with it and use it for feeding. So funny that it’s a big regret for a lot of people!
I used mine for tummy time on the floor and to prop baby up but after about 3 months, I never used it. Probably could have gotten on without it but I did use it quite a bit in the first few months.
I'm surprised you think hooded towels are a waste and not used for long. We are still using the same ones for my 3 year old daughter. They still wrap around her and the hooded part is perfect to keep it on her when she's running off into her bedroom 🤷♀️
Moses basket was so good for us as she felt scared in a big next to me crib! Got a rocking chair that is like an armchair - so will be perfect for our living room when I don't nurse :)
I'm in the US. It's intresting seeing what's on the market in the UK. I just had my 4th baby, so not a 1st time mom. I do actually use a lot of these. I do agree that the diaper (nappy) bins are a waste of money tho. I never used that with any of my kids. Our stollers (what you guys call prams) look completely different. I do regularly use my baby wrap and muslin receiving blankets. I think that's just a preference, depending on the mom. I also use the bottle drying rack, changing table, hooded baby towels, baby clippers, sterilizing bags, and pack and play. The moses baskets are not sold in my area anymore but I wish I had one. The US is super strict about what babies can be in. The sleep standards have changed with each child. My oldest had crib bumpers, now they cannot have anything in the crib but the crib sheet.
As a mom of 5 soon to be 6 I disagree with sooo many of these 😂 My best advice is try your best to get things second hand and remember that sooooo many things work for some babies and not for others. You cannot plan these things.
Love this comment. Plus even if some of the stuff is useless after 6mo, it is still a fun experience for first-time parents to go a bit crazy. I love second hand stuff. All clothes and the car seat have been second-hand but also I bought new stuff because I am excited!
I'm a first time mum and we have the ickle bubba stomp V4 and he used the carry cot part 3 times. Totally regret it. Also I wasted so much money on tommee tippee bottles as it was all I knew we ended up giving them and our electric steraliser away. We are now on mam bottles and a Milton steraliser xx
I’m expecting my second and my first we just had a cot next to the bed but I would recommend a next to me crib (I’m going to get one this time) as people who have c sections find it very hard to get up for night feds and especially when they are on bed rest
Our family just kindly purchased for us a silver cross stroller that has pieces for 2 kids, one like a mini bed like yours and one for a little kid, and bought a car seat with it that can be attached to it instead for that reason, haven't received it yet but after listening to your experience i think I'm happy our family suggested that. Felt bad we couldn't choose the pieces from the beginning coz it was a pack and had to buy the car seat as extra, now feel better, seems worth it.
I use the Grace contour Electra and it was a god send with my last, won’t even be bothering with a proper cot for this one cause the contour takes baby up to a junior bed age 💪🏽
Regarding your travel system: my only note is that a newborn should not be in a car seat for more than an hour, if you can help it. Naturally, if your drive is more than that, it can't be helped. But longer outside of driving is bad for their back and hips as they develop. So if you dislike the cot, maybe consider babywearing when you get out of the car.
(Not meant as a troll like comment at all I just wanted to highlight the safety aspect of it)
Absolutely this. I was going to say the same thing. It’s so dangerous leaving a newborn in a seated position for long lengths of time.
I thought this too as soon as she said she always used the car seat. It’s not recommended, and a carry cot is the safest option so the baby can lie flat. My 4.5 month old is still in her carry cot
Completely agree, I’m glad you commented this tbf!! George we never in it for long period of time to be fair, I deffo should have mentioned that! Xx
@@emilypresleysee I also got bored too. There's far too many videos where people ramble on instead of getting straight to the point.
@@emilypresleysee she only mentions the brand and says that most stores sell their own brand version of water wipes that are much cheaper.
Absolutely, and as someone who doesn't have a car I think the icklebubba would be great as I will hardly ever use the car seat.
thats a really good advice for new moms! stay with the basics, even clothes, cause once you have your baby with you, you will know what are your truly necessities
I wish someone had told me this! xxx
I heard this too. Don't. Lol use a filer
@@JulieMercedes93 definitely. I did this first my first she bites her nails as habit now. 🙄
Especially when u have a newborn, parents aren’t out of the house for that long
I don't like the Doona at all even the pram way to low. But I love the quinny moodd ;) Like she said each mother have their own taste.
Just read the other comments and can see it’s been pointed out already 🙈🙈
We definitely do use the Cybex car seat way more than the carrycot ... put we get him up out of it all the time and carry him and cuddle him. :/
@@biddyomahony-spears5195 my car seat states that the baby can be up to 2 hours in it.
Karolina Jarosz yes, bigger baby’s, newborns and small baby’s it’s 20-30 mins
@@biddyomahony-spears5195 ah ok thank you! Did not know that. The car seat is from 0-13kg and says 2 hours so I thought that applies from beggining
As an expecting first time Mum, who's clueless, finding your channel has been great. Lots of great tips and not an ounce of preaching😃. Thank you
I completely agree! My favourite source of baby info on here.
The water wipes here was a huge succes
No rash,redness
But recently we got a free pack of pamper coconut.... best ones ever in the market
Often even no need of diaper ointment etc ... it leaves a nice smooth layer ,but no stickyness or whathever
A must try for every parent I think
My little boy can't stand much products
I think we got ours for about £70 in the end 😍
Love the fact that you're so confident about your own choices and what's been right for you xx
I’ve just started using the sleeping bag, love it!! He used to kick his blankets off (even tho I tuck them in) then wake up cold ALL the time. Sleeping bags all the way! Blankets for out and about xxx
Love sleeping bags! No need to fuss with blankets
I used muslin swaddles for burp rags, stroller cover from the sun (it’s more breathable), nursing cover, cover those dirty highchairs at restaurants, and the list goes on.
Me too! ❤ one of my most used baby products actually. So versatile!
Blankets for our winter baby were a must have! Especially in an open world when you’re going in and out of shops and don’t want to take the pramsuit off each time!xx
U need them for the summer as well as extra sun protection.
Wow i just researched bottle propping and it is indeed fatal! Wow
Xx
What exactly is a carrycot never heard of it I’m in Australia I just put my baby son in a pram to go shopping never let him in his car set he’s now 4
@@bees_nail_art82 I think they mean the flat bassinet "pram" attachment as opposed to a carseat or stroller seat
The toilet duck gel trick is such a clever idea. Gonna start to do that as well x
Anyway to make money off parents!! You got the right idea.. as the twists are just the same as the nappy bag material.
Toilet duck inside the lid is genius!!
They are pricey cartridges 😬😬😬 I do like the convenience though!
Could you please share which ones please. Do you have pictures?
Yes but how?
My baby is 4 weeks today and some of your regrets are actually essentials for us:
1) carrycot.
So car seat is my biggest nightmare 😂
2) nail clippers - we use them every other day.
I didn’t manage to swaddle Mila too, however I use swaddle muslins every day as:
A) cover for the carrycot on the sunny day to keep the baby away from the sun
B) “bed sheet” for carrycot and for Dockatot.
I use all my 3 swaddle muslins (I bought a pack of 3) every single day and don’t know what would I do without them 😅
I didn’t realised that cheaper version of water wipes can be bought from any shop - will definitely try it. So far I tried normal baby wipes and Water wipes and prefer water wipes as they are more moisty and clean better - less skin rubbing.
Does the new born suitable for stroller if it’s fully reclined? Or we need to buy carrycot?
So true!! Everyone’s will be so so different! I’m convinced that it’s because I got mine second hand that ours was a bit dodgey! 😂♥️
@@HomeWithShan my biggest regret was buying scratch mits, all our babygrows had them built in so we never used them!
Also, having baby in a car seat for more than 2 hours requires an hour break in between, as it may hurt their physical development, as well as lungs.
Baby swaddle blankets are great for summer babies to be used as blankets. Used them for 2 years straight with my first kiddo :)
Some baby nests can be used overnight, some can't, always check.
It’s awful isn’t it! Nail files are so much better I think! Glad you enjoyed it!! Xxxx
All your regrets were essentials for me, and my two babies 😃
I think that’s such a good plan! I’m deffo considering if we were to have another!! ♥️
I loved my bottle drying rack, i sterilised my bottles and all my pump parts in the washing up bowl with cold water and milton fluid. There were bottles and flanges and parts everywhere i needed a separate area for them!
I had a little giggle when one of the adverts during your video was for the water wipes!! I was like ‘nope, not getting them’ 😂
Hahaha how funny 😂😂
Aww I’m so glad that you like it!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 like I said, I used it all the time, but I think I’m hindsight I would get the carrier instead xxxx
Icandy can't go wrong... With maxi cosy car seat.. would never pick another night that is how good it is
The sleepyhead was a godsend for me.
I love my Moses basket, my 3 month old has all
her day naps in hers in our living room, means that she has learnt to sleep
through all noise (essential when you have a toddler also lol)
I'm due with my first baby in August and found this video so helpful, thank you!
Aww congratulations! 💖💖xx
Congrats! Same here 🤗🤗🤗🤗
@@HelenGraceC thanks so much lovely! 😘
@@shannonryan32 thank you 🥰 Big congrats to you too! 😘
And he frequently nightwakes and we co-sleep
loved the next to me! perfect for breast feeding. :) x
I think it was the first one x
Baby socks for newborns are important in my opinion. My winter baby had freezing cold feet, I needed to use socks under his baby grows
The in ear braun thermometer is great and more accurate than head
Most of your regrets I use every day 😄 every baby is different...I love blankets to use during the day not Swaddle, I use nail clippers just fine , it's really easy when they are asleep, I found it really hard to bite their nails. Also use the baby nest during the day for naps 😴 just to name a few 🤷♀️
Also for the electric sterilizers you need to use distilled water..it says on the hand guide :) and you won't have any problems with lime
Reusable wipes are the way forward just add water use and throw in the wash!
Good to note it’s not recommended to leave a baby with bottle propped up like that, they don’t have the opportunity to have a break from feeding, take in air or stop feeding when then have had enough so maybe just don’t prop up any bottle to feed a baby and leave it there
Popper vests too I hate I’m in love with Velcro vests they literally Velcro all the way round they are amazing for weight clinic or doctors appointments when needing to get undressed
babyzen does have carseat attachments, you just have to buy it separate.
Thank you ☺️
@@shannonryan32 yes you do, they aren’t recommended for sleeping, nighttime or prolonged use
@@shannonryan32 hey ! Mine have always slept in it , but I know they say not to and just for day time naps but Iv had it for a long time and think the guidance has changed since my daughter was new born xxx
My sons old hooded towels make the perfect hair towel for me!
Also want to add your swivel seat isn’t being used correctly straps should come from below the shoulders when rear facing looks like you’ve taken some of the inserts out to soon as well
I'm actually bought baby Cot which can extend until junior bed
“Oh it’s 23 degrees and he should be in this and this..” 😂🤣
I start work at 8AM!! How much trouble would I get into secretly watching this under my desk haha!! Can't wait to watch later when I get home!
Hehe!! I promise it won’t be going anywhere, I hope you enjoy it later when you watch babe!!♥️
Thoroughly enjoyed this one as usual. Xx
You won't get scale in electric machines that use water if you use distilled water only.
(We are waiting for the renters to get out)
We didn’t want a Mamaroo at first because it is expensive. But we didn’t get her quiet in anything except in a Mamaroo. So we bought one.
My baby pooped on the nursing pillow the other day, and I’ve literally been lost without it! I bought a new one straight away 😂
My baby naps on it during the day, I sleep with it and use it for feeding. So funny that it’s a big regret for a lot of people!
Haha!! I never used mine either 😅 I did use a normal pillow though!! Lol xx
The baby nail clippers come in handy around age 3 is personally what I have found.
You should try an electric nail file. It's the best for babies and your piece of mind!
I loved using the mam bottles they were super easy to clean too ! X
Sounds so similar to me!! Bloody carry cots 😂😂 I’m glad you’ve found the bottles/steriliser that works for you now!!♥️
@@themumfriend3047 exactly!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Babyzen yoyo2 actually has a car seat you can attach to the frame!
I'm due to have my first baby. I have the Jane matrix light 2.
I’m expecting my second and my first we just had a cot next to the bed but I would recommend a next to me crib (I’m going to get one this time) as people who have c sections find it very hard to get up for night feds and especially when they are on bed rest
I have the maxi cosi car seat+isofix and then bought the baby zen yo-yo car seat adapters. The best combo ever, would highly recommend!
The Yoyo does have a car seat you can attach to it and they have an option to buy car seat adapters.
The Next2Me is designed to be safe for sidecar sleeping, ie being attached to your bed. A travel cot is not designed to be safe for that use.
you can get travel cots that can be tied to the bed e.g. Joie brand does.
