Captain Cabinetz Wuthering Waves reaction
Wuthering Waves is set in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic world after a catastrophe called the Lament wiped out most of humanity and caused unknown beings and monsters, called Tacet Discords, to appear. Humanity adapted to the threat and over time rebuilt civilization. The story follows the amnesiac Rover, who has awakened from a deep slumber and sets out to explore this new world.

In genshin, you can one shot a boss.
In Wuthering waves, *The Boss can one shot you*
We are not the same
That's why it's impossible to powercrept cause the boss themselves powercrept their own
@hacchiyotsuba exactly! 💯
I personally don't have a hard time resisting pulls I just get annoyed when I know I won't have enough currency to pull EVERY character I want because I don't spend ludicrous amounts of money on the game.
You don't even need that much, I've got all but one character I wanted, and I bought my first luminite sub now, and as a f2p* I have around 150 pulls saved up rn with 30 pity
*Technically not anymore but basically
@@abra2133 Well, in WuWa's case, we had 3 patches in a row with a only one (non free) new limited character added to the roster, so... There is that.
Looks like they've been giving roughly enough currency to pull for one character per version. I hope things slow down again after 2.1, so I don't have to skip too many characters. ^^;
@aomarcoscosta4647 doubt it will slow down for more than 1 patch
you can have like 70% of characters you want though, that not good enough?
@@joaomarcoscosta4647I got the last 2 new characters that came out in 20 pulls.Yeah but there are 2 more new characters to come after the current new one.
Danjin mains in WuWa: "Wtf you mean powercreep? As long as I can solo that sh8 even barely. It's still not powercreep." 😂
Mr.CHOKKE not gonna LOVE this.
I feel like players kinda are part of the problem because some people are complaining roccia not being op so many players want each new characters to be stronger then the last in which we have created the power creep indirectly.
I don’t agree with the opinion that each new characters have to be op and I rather have more characters that can support each other and future support of teams.
I mean roccia buff is really specific but her suk toranado ablity is reaaly strong
They really do underestimate her ability to group, which I feel is only going to get more prevalent and important, especially with the way things are going with the current new content in this patch. She's literally the universal grouper for anyone, not just Camellya, that lacks grouping, from the past and into the future as well.
I agree with both your points that she will be a core in havoc teams when more content comes out and more resonators that will take advantage of her kit.
i agree.
What matters is that the character isn't WEAK.
It doesn't need to be the best, the strongest character ever. This is exactly how we get Powercreep.
Roccia probably has a lot of value for futur characters too.
It's just the 1.3 Zhezhi situation all over again.😂
As long as danjin can solo content, there will never be a true powercreep in WuWa
Sure, there will be characters that are slightly stronger than what's available, but as long as those past characters can clear all content with decent investment and teambuilding, all is good
Call me noob, but she's hard to use, so easy to die. Her HP is like cotton candy dipped to the water, take one attack and she's gone
@@azrielwolvies7867well! That’s call skills. People nowadays seems to forget all about that because others are simply just attack the foe and without much of brain work in the game ( and that’s also what some of the hoyo players complaining about wuwa), that they find wuwa hard to play and zzz is “greater” than wuwa in combat because it is simple and easy! 😅 it almost like they never ever played any action game on console before 🤷♂️ like DMC
This is how it's been with Genshin and yet people still started complaining about the powercreep eventually. I feel like it's just a hot topic that everyone wants to talk about in all these games right now.
@ That's it, that's the problem, my skill is a complete garbage. I just throw random shits on enemies brainlessly. Fuc it idc, I only play to see the glorious fighting choreographies and sound effect. Everytime I use Xiangli Yao my ears ascends to heaven
@ well! You aren’t the only one that got skill issues on playing wuwa, I guarantee it ( me too, I got skill issues as what the skillful players would say). But hey anyone can play the game however they wanted to play, no one is forcing anyone that they have to be very skillful in wuwa, or certain games or every game. I mean, players like me who got skill issues “should be” the one that whine about how the game doesn’t make it easy for me( us ), but I never did such things. Because I understand that it isn’t the game’s problem, but the players. Danjin solo, Chixia or even Youhu solo etc. but before all this, I’d like to use DMC as a perfect example to explain. That which is “style” in DMC, when you are good and skillful in DMC, your “style” scores goes up and you can do amazing combos in DMC, but if you can’t do, that doesn’t ruin the game or consider as “powercreep”!
I know many people would use ToA as a measurement in wuwa to determine this so called power creep ( and me who can’t clear ToA “should have” whine about it but never did, and doesn’t bother to), cause I really don’t see it. Probably because outside of ToA, we can still end the world bosses pretty easily! And to me, ToA is heavily dependent upon players skills, not just mad tapping on the attack button anyway. So if anyone cannot be that skillful, just play how you want to play ( and pull for the character that you like)
For HSR, they can sell character through stories by convincing player to pull them to support their fav character. However, because not everyone like the same character due to either relatability or preference, their greed blinded them to make it a universal need to pull for character through game mechanic to fill satisfaction to clear the game. Genshin too with their overworld mechanic. Not many like Natlan characters.
PGR has a great approach in selling their character as players want to pull for Selena because through the stories and animation short, she had suffered so much that people willing to C6 her and use her against the very boss that tortured her. For Wuwa, even if Roccia is not meta, their still sub-set of player that want to pull her bc they like her through gameplay or personality and still clear the game.
I will say this is the Dev skill issue moment.
I wouldn't be bringing PGR of all games as a positive example when discussing powercreep
Because while their approach to creating and selling characters is IMO the best kind (small cast that's constantly evolving along the way), this game is also subject to pretty harsh powercreep, as every new character serves as a *direct* upgrade to their predecessor in the same roll, meaning you're not gonna hit the same scores using an outdated unit as someone with the shiny newest one
EDIT: also, C6 Selena? I think you got your dupe systems confused
@@Konpekikaminari Sorry I don't play PGR, but after seeing Marcomeatball's react to Selena's animation short and learn more about her overall stories, I feel like I want to pull for her too. I guess this is a bad response to this videos that revolve around powercreep. My respond more to how they sell their characters.
PGR do have powercreep but it happens quite long
@@Jiparo5612 what story lol? I don't even read a single thing, girl's pretty/op I pull
Guys, what are you yapping about? There's no such thing as "powercreep" in Ba Sing Se.
Powercreep exist if you let it in Ba Sing Se.
I think the best example of good powercreep is FGO. It is based on support units and they update older units and have niche damage multipliers (for example Earth Alingment or Evil alignment). With the 8th Anniversary there are 2 major buffs with Raikou and Salter.
Reverse 1999 is also starting to update old units kits and Arknights added Modules.
100% agreed, I type that in the _Other Comments_ in the monthly surveys they do in-game about how FGO's Rank-up and Interlude system is a very good idea to flat out steal, since Interludes specifically gives more character focused stories for characters as well as the upgrade and also a lore reason to why they get stronger.
I agree, I think that could resolve lot of problems and its not necessarily difficult to do, you dont even need to change anything of the characters, just add something similar to the modules in arknights and that could resolve lots of problems (srry for bad english)
@mateoortiz6798 Well the thing FGO does to their skills is an added or increase effect. Easy example Yanquing in HSR, what if his excess Crit chance gets converted to damage and if he crits he guaranteed to do his follow up.
Hex is absolutely based with this vid explain the nature of powercreep actually in a way people can understand more easily and to the point so real discussions can be made.
Power creep exists simply to:
1/solve players's need for "easy power"
2/incentivise players to use new things over old ones
My personal thoughts on wuwa's nightmare echoes r that they were made in a very good and thoughtful way, cause they could've easily slapped more sets like other games do and made the grind worse to old units to catch up, but the fact that they just improved on old sets that were already viable and released new sets to the more niche gameplay style of specific units/ new units is a huge W
I had a hard time concentrating myself on two personalities on my screen. And now there're four.
MrJokke: "No problem just pull."
Everyone else: "Ah YOU'RE part of the problem."
correction: 6:00 "there are laws preventing units being buffed" - there's no laws, many games DO change them, usually via a "extra system" that changes the character or gives them a way to re-become relevant/usable, like for example if say seele got a extra passive slot and that passive provided another way for her mechanic to trigger other then killing trash or even crazier multipliers if you actually manage to use her ability. They'll typically use this to buff some by a lot and others by less, effectively balancing out the problems. Not only is this done, hoyo themselves have done it before in hi3.
18:50 One way to solve the issue of a new support making both, the top and bottom line stronger, is to adjust the target content.
Let me put this into simple power levels. Let's say your unit has the power level of 8 but needs 10 to clear the content. The new "power creep" unit has a power level of 10. A new support now boosts the older unit from level 8 to 10, so clearing is possible. The new unit goes from 10 to 12. So they are even stronger, yes. But does it matter? No. You need 10.
One game that does that quite literally perfectly is Genshin Impact. Think about it. Have you ever gone to a new area, region or domain and thought to yourself, damn, I really need more power? Yes, the result is people will cry about easy content.
We end up with these options:
A - Hgh endgame content. Hard and frustrating for old units, rewarding and fun for new units. Potentially boosts sales but could loose customers if it is too frustrating for players and too many leave. Though the question is, did the ones who left matter? If they had money to pay, would they have left or paid and stayed? (Currently HSR does that, as some content can be autoplayed with new units but has to be reset luck rerun with older units to win.)
B - Mid endgame content. Older units can clear it with decent investment, new units clear it easier with minimal investment. There isnt much reason to pull so the money income drops. (I would argue ZZZ does that and WuWa. Really well built units and proper usage can clear most content but new units definetly make it significantly easier to do so.)
C - Low endgame content. Neither old nor new units struggle or see any need to invest into builds or skill. There is zero reason to pull other than husbando/waifu factors. The gameplay is stale and boring without any challange, so the game needs to offer anything but combat content to make the people stay. The game needs to sell parasocial bonding to characters over gameplay. (Genshin Impact does that)
Maybe you see the up and downsides and possible consequences to the game, playerbase and company in each aspect. It's not hard to balance this out. It's impossible. You can't have meaningful and engaging content without option A. Because why would they create that if there were no sales to pay the devs to do so? Some games in the C category like Genshin are imo too far gone, so they are stuck with that model. Balance will be impossible with their amount of units.
God, I hope I could just talk about this. No one is gonna read all the things I write. Except you. You are the only one that did. Congrats on reaching the end! pog.
Instead of powercreep, just make a sidegrade to existing character. Best example is Yelan and Xingqiu, she provides more damage while he provides more defensive utility. Like its better to use Fischl with a character that uses normal attack because of her C6, or you use Yae Miko if you want more range/AOE. Just make the same character but with different buff.
I don't think it's illegal to buff units PGR has the leap system and Aether Gazer has a buff system for older units.
I believe it is illegal to directly alter a character post-release (at least, not outside direct response to relevant feedback), that's why they hide the buffs behind resource-gated, player controlled systems
Arknights with it's module system as well, although not every module makes or breaks a character, some outright change the way some characters function and pushed their viability a ton, I love it
Pokemon Masters also has many such systems. They even add on to the initial kits of characters, so it's definitely not illegal. I think the thing people get mixed up with is the fact that players can report the company to the government for scamming them if a character gets NERFED.
I always heard some terms I am oblivious of, being a new player in the gacha space and only been playing Wuwa (out of curiosity //Yinlin//). Such as whaling, bricked, power creep, and other stuff. This made me kinda feel like I leveled up and achieved a better insight on the space I'm now playing into.
But then, that said, it really sucks that your favorite character gets thrown off just because another powerful guy appears with not so much investment issues at the start to face since release.
It's amazing how Mr Jokey's ignorance opened doors for so many videos about the topic power creep 😂 may I be stupid like him
Ego and lack of accountability will be his downfall
@@ImproperStandbyand I'll be eating my popcorn 🍿 and laughing at him when that day happens 😂
Danjin solo and Jinhsi’s existence in wuwa is rejecting powercreep.
Being happy of getting powercreep by other character in gacha game is like Being happy at EA when they told you about "pride and accomplishment".
Ok, the background music from JSR:F is amazing
I bought a battle pass in wuwa just to get those gold waveplates to build my character. Now i feel like i wasted money because i could have just done a resource management.
WuWa is currently the most obvious outlier when it comes down to not doing massive power creep or no power creep at all for now.
Danjin mains are all the proof we need, solo clearing end game content means that skill matters, that is the main difference of WuWa's meta dynamic to games like genshin and hsr that doesn't require skill to beat end game, what only matters are how OP or how suitable your characters are for the content.
ZZZ? I can't point it out yet but it still is much vulnerable to extreme power creep as well as a hoyo game, Miyabi is the right step towards power creep
Not only danjin mains. I recently saw Aalto mains destroying tower floors in 40-50 seconds... I was baffled.
Powercreep was rampant in damn near every gacha game I played prior to the modern era. I think Genshin and Wuwa are the outliers here. Like you mentioned Danjin mains soloing, and also I'll add in that even Chixia can solo towers. As far as Genshin, the National team is also still clearing Abyss to this day. Common across both of these games is the fact that despite stronger units releasing over time, the content remains at a level that most of the playable roster can clear.
i also play PGR...power creep... it takes like 1 to almost 3 years to power creep.
they do buff the older units but it cost in game material to upgrade them further(character leap)
once the next gen leak next year....well your leap upgrades won't catch up to the next next power creep. unless they add in a second leap xD
Dayum welcome back Hex from your 4 day hiatus of gacha
omg its my oshi
HexJuice supremacy! >:D
I'm not really upset when MOBA nerf my main, because it's a cycle. Sooner or later they will buff them back. I just see it as a chance to learn different units
6:00 naaah, many, like MANY gacha games have DIRECT buffs of old characters, it's only Hoyoverse choose to not do this after genshin released. They even had core system in hi3rd for many characters and stopped making them, and instead focused on divine keys and stuff, what was semi-buff that u need spend for to get.
For example PGR have leaps that buffs and changes old character, Reverse 1999 introduced Euphoria system which is additional stuff that is directly buffs old characters, or Aether Gazer with AKS module (and for fun in that game, on of the strongest teams there is a team of 1.x patches with characters that got AKS, and currently on CN rn is 3.10 patch iirc, 3.3 on global)
So, it's just the hoyoverse are not doing this at all rn....
powercreep is inevitable but NOT IN 4-6 MONTHS -.-
Yup, it's about pacing and how it's being handled that matters.
it's Kuro. they even make Alpha Crimson Abyss reign supreme for more than a year in PGR. and even now, she's still considered as strong dps. you are right. as long as any unit/characters you pulled has 4-6 months or even a year lifespan before getting powercreep, then we can consider the game have healthy system. if there's any of you guys who ever play Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, you know how bad the game powercreep was.
@@richardsanjaya1426 there's a difference though wuwa can't launch trash 4 star characters which PGR does by releasing A rank characters for a whole patch sometimes, thus powercreep is inevitable and will be quite faster with more permanent endgame modes arrival
18:55 im getting Jing Yuan flashbacks now
i have almost 30k asterite and 40 premium tide, i hope i can save enuf to S6 Zani by the time she is released
i never spent much except for the monthly asterites
Save your corals too. You can get her on C4 and buy the rest of her dupes in the store instead.
@ i have around like 200+ afterglow coral and 3000+ oscillated coral so i guess im kinda safe xd
Superbreak was introduced by a free unit they are adding new mechanics either that or the game wouldn't change and will get boring
I don't think hsr in the point of either pull this or quit the game
RMC for example made the game 5× more fun yeah they are powercreep but it's fun
LOL I HAVE C2 VERINA!
reverse 1999 is buffing/reworking old chara and most of them become essential support/sub dps unit that works wonderful for newer chara. I think this is one of the good example how gacha game "fix" powercrept.
So excited for the Ms New Babel euphoria glow up
Welp. Mr dookie is one hell of a name.😂😂
HAHAH the gateo edit killed me
12:59
Nah~ I think standard banner already got powercreep when changli and Xiangli yao release.
"But you still use in ToA"
Yes, but its not because they good, people who use them is just play better and make better performance. Wuwa is game when we have high skill ceiling
14:50 that's not even powercreep. It was simply a mechanic to make healers a more attractive option, but literally any healer worked. I specifically remember when Kokomi came out every content creator and website called her bad because Bennett, Barbara or Qiqi was more than enough to deal with the dogs so there was no point in pulling her. Powercreep would have been if Kokomi was the only healer capable of outhealing the dog's DoT, but she wasn't.
Powercreep? Just be a Danjin main. No Danjin in game? Mod her in. Banned? Give Danjin the devs's address.
A good example of absolute powercreep was Tower of Fantasy. In genshin terms, a C1 new character was stronger than a C6 "old" character 5 updates later. We're talking 50-100% stronger. The old unit would struggle even in the open world exploration.
Pretty fun that it's the thing that disappeared 1.5 years ago, and for open world exploration there is buffs for new players and old weapons that deal damage oneshooting mobs
@@zera2531 I'm glad they fixed the major issue, unfortunately it was after the vast majority of players quit the game. Power creep being one of the biggest issues.
@Dusky672 people left at another problem, like 4 or 5 weapons did reverse powercreep doing 50% less damage on c6 so it was pretty much weird overall, and those who pulled raged so badly
@@zera2531 imagine so! My friend and I whaled during version 1 and quit after seeing our expensive c6 characters becoming obsolete so quickly. Really questionable dev decision making all around.
Meanwhile Arknights with one of the best units in the game being 1y units
what i hate about HSR is the fact that the characters get powercrept before even getting their return banners.
which makes the fact that you might have pulled for a character. useless to even pull again or pull for it to get it the frst time. cause they ll be considerably weaker then the new banner anyways.
even if you get multiple copies.
like i for one still didint manage to e6 bronya, but i`m not even excited about it. since she fell off anyways compared to any newer support.
I have said this and I'll say it again,as long as a character isn't weak, it's fine if they aren't broken asf, like roccia. It's totally fine for her to not be too far away from sanhua, let ppl play the sexy lady or a loli. I don't like being forced to play a character i don't like simply because they are actually this character but 100% better. It's such a waste of great design, look at taoqi jianxin and yuanwu, great design, low efficiency, hard to make use of
The gacha system adopting "powercreep" is devastating. Other non-gacha games introduce powercreep as a fun way to challenge yourself and get rewards that boost your power level in terms of gear and items, not banner characters, with a 50% chance to get screwed.
Now we can have two CAP in one screen talking a different thing.
"Same can be said for Gacha games because of the investm--"
Roguelites exist. Skul the Hero Slayer exists. The only real difference in concept is that you splurge actual money to get a piece of content in one whereas you can buy the other in its entirety once and roll to your heart's content.
Characters have been altered in this space before, lest we forget fking Zhongli and the noise prior to him being adjusted. I ain't taking that excuse.
I love Powercreep
