Somewhere there's a steam locomotive being restored in a smokey backshop. And somewhere else in an old barn, there's an antiquated tractor being overhauled to pull a plow as good as new. For me there's a 56 Chevy 4 door and a 75 custom pickup that remembers every curve on the road home. Thanks for the tunes Neil!
peterkizz, :) Hwy 17, forever westbound... Tim Horton's, the Greyhound bus...love to hear "Blind River" too en route to the Sault! Here's to Neil Young, more iconic than hockey to many Canadians.
Truly classic. If this song doesn't hit you where you live then there's something wrong with you. Loved it when Neil played it at the closing of the 2010 Olympics. That little Guild M-20 that he's playing has a really rich output for such a small guitar and a sound-hole pickup. But look who's playing it.
I love this song so much…..I get melancholy when I hear Neil sing “Maybe The Beach Boys have got you now, with those waves singing Caroline No, rolling down that empty ocean road, get into the surf on time.” Takes me out of the present into a distant past which fills my mind and heart with memories.
Long may it run......1962 was the first year I bought singles in the Bronx Much has changed in all ways GO CANADA1 G0 AMERICA! But the music will always be there it will never end!
i would like to dedicate this song to Mr Rlissone,,,this song reminds me our happy moments,,,,, wish your happiness where ever you are,,,no body could take your place in my heart,,,,neth
A blessing to have him around and around...he goes.... He has healed himself of so much through organics. His passion is an example of what humanity should express. Age is an individuals perception. When you buy a pack of paper, it is new, fresh...but how old is the tree it came from? (even if recycled). All things are perceptions, and how you use that info within is the important part. Close your eyes when you hear his wonderful songs and no age interferes. peace...
i would always listen to this as a baby in my mother's womb (only song that would calm me down) to a 10 year old girl haha im 13 now and this song makes me wanna go to sleep in a peacul way [:
@LetArtsLive Mortimer Hearseburg was the name of the old hearse that broke down in Canada on the way to California in 1962, not 1965 as he says in this version.
@Kumitarzan Awesome! Thanks for the clarification. I love the song and I am very familiar with the beautiful drive to/from Sudbury along the Blind River. Great jogging tune, too!
@Kumitarzan 1) For years I was curious about what ever happened to Neil's first hearse after it was abandoned at Bill's Garage in Blind River. Several years ago I was discussing this with a guy at a sidewalk cafe when a woman sitting at the table next to us said "I know what happened to it." I was stunned as she related that the hearse had been bought & repaired by someone & later sold to her (then) husband in Thunder Bay (Fort William). (Continued… )
@blindriv3r - Right on brother! You either get Neil's sound . . . or your don't. I read in an interview where Neil said, " . . .don't try to achieve technical perfection or you'll lose the spirituality of the song". Sounds good to me.
@nosidak1 if thats how you see it,Its like a painting or image.People can see them all in different light.I really dont beleive its about a car.But thats ok what you say.Did you see the lenoise film its great its on youtube 39 minutes?
@mitchdfla ok but to me it will always remind me of my friend who died who was born in 1962 cause they played this at his funeral. So its Kind of odd its about a hearse.I bet Old Neil doesn't care how people perceive it so long as they like it.
2) (Continued… ) Her husband used it to drive around doing drug deals for two years in Thunder Bay, before he ended up giving it to someone else as payment for a drug debt he owed. She said as far as they knew, the hearse was still sitting in a back alley in Thunder Bay behind the new owner's place! I got to know this woman & hung with her for a while. Still have her phone number.
And he's Canadian for fellow Canucks out there. Good on him helping the cause in America.
Best song about a car I have ever heard
This is sooo beautifull. Written to celebrate a car, here it's a tribute to two close friends that died earlier in the year. Long May You Run indeed.
I love this man's heart, through his music it radiates.Definitely a heart of Gold.
For you BC. Miss you 🤗
YOU were the world to me.
This song reminds me of my old man. God Bless you Dad and God Bless you Neil Young!

Neil Young is one of the few artists who never sold out to Corporate America....
Rock on, Brother !
Well, I watched him pitching Sales Force for Marc Benioff. Guess everyone has a price.
It doesn't get better than this. Thanks, Neil, for standing up for so many years for what is good and right. Long may you run, sir.
Hits you in the feels as they say....
He is who he is, Neil Young, He's made more people happy than he has unhappy. Can you dig that?☮

what a performance. Neil is telling about the important things and truth. Neil is the living King.
The older I get the more meaningful the words of Neil Young's songs.....Hard to beat. Wonderful, natural talent from the creator.
Long may it run......1962 was the first year I bought singles in the Bronx Much has changed in all ways GO CANADA1 G0 AMERICA! But the music will always be there it will never end!

who is the musician who plays harmonica with Neil? I would like to marry him
Neils wife Peg is the blonde in the middle of the back up singers. I got to see them sing together once.
I'm pretty sure this song was an ode to his motorcycle.
@goredeathrot i saw it le noise was awsome
Life was better when you were singing. 🤦🏻♀️♥️🙏🏽🎈
@mitchdfla ok but to me it will always remind me of my friend who died who was born in 1962 cause they played this at his funeral. So its Kind of odd its about a hearse.I bet Old Neil doesn't care how people perceive it so long as they like it.
