My daughter surprised me at her wedding and she played this for our father-daughter dance. I used to sing this to her as a baby, so very near and dear to my heart. You guys will never burn out, and will never rust. Long may you run.
My first concert was CSNY , 50 Years ago in Buffalo, Ny with over 100,000 people. They did this song acousticlly. I still remember it well! Santana also played!
I saw them during that same tour, but at Milwaukee County Stadium in Wisconsin. Jesse Colin Young and The Beach Boys were the opening acts. At 69, I also remember it well. (thumbs up)
You just made my F-ing day with all these Young/Stills vids.....wow. Seen em both many times, but that was long ago....looks like I may just have a good cry now.....thanks again!
I love Steven stills and Neil Young always have my whole life . I watch Steven stills play his guitar it will always be a part of American rock and roll . I can only say these words there comes a time.
Love Neil and Stephen , grew up listen8ng to them in the hills where they played here ….Backyard Concerts are the best .. right down the road from Northside Drive in Leona valley where I grew up . Wish I knew about it before now because I would have been front and center …. Dang , my home in Topanga is a minutes walk from where he lived there and now he’s play8ng in Lake Hughes . Guess I just can’t get it together . Hopefully next time ?!!!!
Thank you for sharing! I saw the original Buffalo Springfield lineup at the Racine, Wisconsin YMCA and I was blown away by them. Lifelong fan of these guys and I am glad that they still get together to bring joy and goodwill to the world in these troubled times of hate.
Just made my day, first I see Harvest Moon and now Long May You Run, love these guys and they still sound so good...and a beautiful afternoon concert...ssoooo good😉🎶🤗🌞🦋
Right on. It's good to hear Neil Young and Steven Stills play together like BITD. It also makes me miss Ben Keith's pedal steel, and Jack Nitzche's strings. But the ancients are with us as well, through the music, working our way down the Road. Long May You Run!
I have loved them my whole life CSNY did harmonies that made cry. I would to their tapes until they wore out or a lot of times I gave them away to spread the love LONG MAY YOU RUN❤
I love this song Steve Stills wrote for Neil, about his old hearse, that Neil’s band rode to gigs. Neil and Steve go way back, to the early 60’s. Those matching guitars that Neil and Steve are playing are awesome, Steve is an incredible guitarist as is Neil.❤❤
@@jacquismith3277 I read a biography about Neil Young, called Shakey, his nickname because Neil has a reputation of changing his mind often. That is how I learned Steven wrote it as a gift to Neil. They both used to play the Ontario and Toronto venues when they were really young and Steve knew how much Neil loved his hearses. Neil loved the way they looked, but also you could get them cheap in the early 60’s and Neil loved them. Shakey is a very good detailed biography.
It is definitely NY written, was intended for the hoped for CSNY Human Highway LP in 76-77. Which never saw release and found the CN vocals erased and became the S&Y album Long May You run. I drove to 250 miles to ATL to see the S&Y tour only to find out NY dropped out of the tour that day leaving SS the infamous “eat a peach” note.
Ha ...allways played this song to my LANCIAS .... they listened with great interest .... and after all these years !!!! They lasted a lot longer than any female ever did 😊😊..
I'm 74 and saw these guys as Buffalo Springfield, CSNY, solo, Young and Stills together...count myself very lucky. Neil still has it going, but I get nervous with Stephen up there. I think you're being kind to him.
@@luberdoo1950 Play this song many times at open mics here in England. Surprised how many folks love the song. For me the best part is the Harmonica solo at the start and part way through as the chords go from D through Dmaj7 and on , its all it needs . So much Neil young magic in there
@@luberdoo1950 Yeah, probably a little. His voice is really shot. I’m 66 and was into all of the permutations by 7th/8th grade. I really got into Stephen solo material and he was a big influence on me musically through my college years. I guess I had on my rose-colored glasses.
Always great to see Neil and Stephen together. I was lucky to catch them in 1966 as Buffalo Springfield. Love to hear their White Falcons together. The best song ever about Neil's hearse. Long may it run. Thanks guys.
What a great surprise this Harvest Moon Festival popped up. I LOVE Neil Young, Stephen Stills, and John Mayer! These are wonderful songs. Long may you run!!! Love that harp and what an awesome jam. YES! Dancing over here, they're still and always great! Thanks!
This video did make my day, but, to see Stephen Stills seemingly within conversation distance, to the audience.....I've listened to his music all my life. His music is powerful. If I were in that crowd I believe i would of had the ability to tell Stephen Stills ........Your music is amazing..... And that I am overwhelmingly happy to have been able to tell you that...For that reason..... I'm sad that I've seen this video, because I might not ever get that opportunity
Makes me happy and that Neil Young is in the air when I hear his music 🎶 it take me to a natural high I can't explain its o n the air vibes that. He provides a hippy vibe of peace and kindness and feelings in his approach it touches the soul and heals❤😂our souls peace to all and love Neil Young
I saw the original Stills-Young Band Tour… when the album came out… short lived as it was… Poco was the opening act… Stills guitar work amazed me… since it was the first time I had seen him play live… Nice they got together to play and sing… again… good for them both! 🌎🕊️ 🌜🌞🌛
A few years back saw Crosby , Stills and Nash live in Liverpool without Neil. Couldn’t agree more. Steve Stills on guitar was outstanding . They are all special, but that night Stills seemed the main man.
Stills had work done on his ears, so though he doesn’t have the register he had when he did when he was younger, he can now carry a tune and harmonize better. And you can criticize as soon as you have your first platinum record. Unless and until that happens, keep your mouth shut.
@@anthonypecora5005You do realize they are almost 80? Of course they are not 30 yo anymore - we all age. It’s about honoring people, it’s about the joy and freedom of expression by two very talented men, who we have been blessed to sing along with. Growing up w/ the likes of CSNY, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne…we experienced life together, grew along side of one another and they expressed our mutual experiences in the most creative & beautiful way. We are so grateful! I’m only hearing Neil in this vid. and yep, that’s ’Neil”! ❤
Incredible when they sing about "Nineteensixtythree".... Imagine how old they are! Two of the greatest of all time. Best together, and terribly missing Crosby r.i.p. on rhythm guitar and Nash on piano and harmonies.
In the original, Stephen Stills sang such a perfect harmony that it seemed to be an overtone of Young's voice--and at such a high register that, for most of my life, I assumed it was Joni Mitchell or Emilou Harris or Joan Baez. Stills is (was?) a true Vocalist.

Long may Stephen stills and Neil Young run!! Excellent comment 👍

Sounds awesome. Those guys always great together.
So good to see you guys🎉 Long May You Run !! We love you so... you are family.
Happy Harvest Moon
It's so awesome that these guys are still rocking out at their age along with so many of their generation.
