- Some friends are moving out and we managed to get a house tour of their 6bed/3bath with swimming pool in the suburbs of Leon, Nicaragua in the Colonia Universidad. We talked about this house back in January when it rented for $500 and we are finally able to show it. Sorry that it took months before we could show it, but it wasn't available previously.
This is the house connected with our well known story of the couple who drove down with a Jeep Wrangler and a trailer and the effort of having imported a vehicle made staying long term impossible.

Interesting. I remember when you found that house for them. Looks way different. I'd like to hear their story about fixing it up. Especially the pool. Working with local contractors can be challenging.

I could definitely live there for $500 a month. I would get an ATV to buzz up the dirt road and a truck for hauling supply runs. But I would need to add AC units.

Would solar panels help alot since the power goes out in the middle of the day?
No, since it only goes out for a few seconds with any regularity there's nothing to fix. You need a UPS to handle the switchover to solar or you'd need so much solar that you run on that which would require UPS for the switchover at night. But the UPS alone solves the issue so solar wouldn't do anything except for super rare longer outage of which we've had like two this year.
