I just realized it's also Layne too. 18 years......
Indeed
18 years without Layne...respect, great video
Died the same day, but different year obviously, as Kurt Cobain. And also the same day of the year as the birthday of Pearl Jam's guitarist Mike McCready. Bit of an important day in Grunge.
I didn't know it was Mike McCready's birthday too! Very strange.
"I wish I could hug you all, but I'm not gonna". - Layne Staley
Jerry Cantrell is so under rated as a guitarists.
And songwriter.
@@bloxsy_ and singer.
Amazing guitarist but what makes him super special is he’s one of the best songwriters ever. Overall just an incredible musician, sings/crushes on guitar/amazing lyricist and overall just genius composer.
A true renaissance man
No he's not underrated. He's highly rated.
In my opinion, best unplugged live album and concert ever...
I like nirvanas unplugged a lil bit better
@@jordanpummell6528 same here..although aic is not far behind
You guys are for getting pearl jam
100% agree
It makes me sad to see Layne without his teeth. I cant make it very far into the show.
It’s strange how you can miss someone who you’ve never even met...
Kazoo Gal almost all songs have the same cords in them just different patterns
Justin Lauramore what’s that got to do with anything lmao
Imy
Justin Lauramore ok?
Why is it strange
Everyone in this comment section is talking about Layne (who I love and admire) but you're actually honoring Jerry Cantrell, he wrote like 95% of the riffs here.
Anyway great vid mate
It was the anniversary of Layne Staley's passing recently, but you are absolutely right, these are mostly Jerry's riffs he's great songwriter and guitarist. And thanks.
@@bloxsy_ Oh yeah I didnt notice you uploaded 3 days ago, I'm dumb.
@@facundosimonetti5203 lol
@EndofMusic everyone's honouring legends. You don't need to bring negativity into this whole mix.
Bro do you know the tuning here? Is it eflat?
I can hear the first bass notes from Nutshell, from unplugged show, clear as day in my head as you strum. Acoustic bass BAAHH BAHH BAHHH BUMPP Ba BUMMMH
Truly an underrated bass player
I love playing nutshell. I'm a relatively shitty bassist but it's easy and sound great
Yeah totally agree can here the bass lol
Charlotte the Harlot Really glad I barely had to scroll at all to find this comment. First thing that came to my head 🤘🏼👌🏼
You missed a note though
“Brother” has got to be one of the best Unplugged riffs ever
Scary how haunting some of the riffs sound even on an acoustic, power of great song writing!
They were the best at creating that gloomy sound
its from... unplugged
Winston Leg-Thigh it’s all about interval choice. Darker sounding intervals like minor 2nds, flattened 5ths, minor/major 6th etc
@@T0pMan15 2nds do be kinda spooky tho
@@markf5220 yeah bro check out Phrygian mode
Man, this unplugged album. Works both well in winter with candlelight or in summer with a campfire. And a drink. I love it.
No Excuses is literally one of the only happy AIC songs like dang that’s why I love this band. You don’t need to sound happy and upbeat all the time to have good music
And Heaven Beside You is quite up beat I think!
Over Now is pretty upbeat as well
@@Papagiorgio153over now is kinda upbeat with a dark undertone and sad lyrics
@@ragegamer21p14 lol all of their sings have dark undertones. I Stay Away can be added to the list as well.
Anyone else drop an F bomb after the first line of sludge factory every time they hear it, no matter what?
Yes
FACKKK!!!
as in farted? I can't remember but quite possibly

Lmfao funny when everybody chimes in with some lyrics
Alice in Chains has always ruined me.
The music was so deep and emotionally charged I had a hard time connecting with it even though it moved me back in the 90s.
It took me down deep almost depressed to me and at the same time my younger brother was heavily addicted to drugs so it has added a lot to that feeling for me.
He was heavily into Alice in Chains so I think that affected me as well because their music was so connected to drugs that he used to listen to it so much that it was just too much for me to play even though I was touched by the music.
So whatever I hear this music it just takes me back and it just fills me up with so much from back that I can only take it for so long I have to walk away from it.
Also the fact that the singer died from a drug overdose it's just wears me out.
By the way, my brother made it out alive and it was a miracle and he was heavily into heroin at the time along with many other drugs. Having almost died a few times. He's now a very robust 43 year old man, 6-5 230. What's a daughter and a girlfriend and her children in the home that he bought and has a good job and has been alcohol and drug free now for I believe 10 years.
Congrats you bro I love you and talk to you soon.
( He learned how to play the music on guitar and can play a lot of these songs. He sings along with it too and has played on Facebook as well.)
AIC was also hard for me to listen to because of the addiction me and my best friend had while listening to them...
For me it doesn’t depress me are anything but I can relate to there music like I can with Nirvana there songs have so much meaning to it where there is at least one nirvana are aic song you can relate too
This made me realize how easy these riffs are yet how iconic and genius. I write songs in this tuning but never get the hang of good riffs.
Jerry Cantrell one of the best songwriters ever an an absolute riff god, has written some of the best riffs ever and the large majority of them he did while still keeping them simple
rip layne staley👼😭
Liv Shehi and mike starr... :(
JeffreyHexagon and kurt cobain, chris cornell and scott weiland😖
I'm not a singer, I never have been a singer, but I immediately started sing at 00:27
Ed Davis WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Ed davis me too
I sang for everyone one
did the same for 3:36
Layne, Chris, Scott, Kurt, Andy.... the list is endless of fallen musicians and singers that left us. The late 80s early 90s music scene from Seattle was my "Camelot"..... I'm 54... these guys were my peers, and without question perhaps the greatest time in music history. These guys were not only contemporaries, but close friends that encouraged one anothers success in the industry. They were like a band of cool dark angels roaming the planet, burying one another along the way....I wish I could turn the clock back to 1989 to warn them of the dangers ahead.... but I can't..... so instead I'll thank them in words by saying..... through your music you all unknowingly saved so many lives, including mine..... I'll always be grateful....... thanks for the vid..... very well done my friend.
Shannon too ❤️
jerry Cantrell is amazing songwriter
I absolutely love Alice In Chains's riffs
The tone of your guitar is exactly like it
walshy it’s called tuning😂
@@christianhustad7055 nahh his EQ and gain and everything is similar too. Just how the guitar sounds in general is close to what the guys used on stage that night.
Half tune standard is all you need!
finally i see someone start "nutshell" in the right way! in the unpluged version it starts at "E"! nice video!
If you close your eyes and listen carefully you can hear layne
I think Over Now it's one off AIC most beautiful riffs.
I absolutely love Nutshell!! One of the most underrated bands of the 90's.
Literally no one thinks AIC is underrated, bro.
do Stone Temple Pilots
yeah
You'll have to wait until the anniversary of Scott's death.
Yes please!
Yess
YES PLEASE!!!
This was an excellent idea. I didn't know I needed it.
God I felt that bass in Nutshell just from my memory. it's so impactful to the song
Love it... Jerry Cantrell is an underrated guitarist and song writer.
RIP Layne Staley
I don't think he's underrated at all. He gets his credit for his music. It's just his music and style of playing guitar is kinda dark and not really the mainstream of radio airplay although it has its fair share of top 40 songs. He's one of my favs cause of the lack of high speed solos. If I wanna hear lightning fast guitar I'll pop in some yngwie malmsteen. Their mellow stuff is mellow...and their harder stuff is hard. But not too hard. Cantrell has paid his dues in the rock world.
Dude that was outstanding. I watched your nirvana unplugged cover too. PLEASE do a pearl Jam unplugged one
Thanks!
Pearl Jam, please
Ya, Pearl Jammm
Rip mike rip layne oh and Jerry’s a master mind. These riffs are amazing
I've always loved nutshell, one of my favorite songs, rip Layne
One of the best albums ever
When that album came out, I was 14 and skipped school on that day, just to buy it 😄 Today I am 39 and still listen to it, almost every day. God damn it, times flies fast....
This is the way you produce a video... no long pointless intro or bs just jumps right in. Thank you! Got yourself a new sub.
Love you're videos man you make me want to still pick up a guitar
Thanks man, go for it!
This unplugged concert was so damn amazing.
Man all of these are great, you know they’re good songs when they sound good unplugged as well
I love this, cures my quarantine depression😂
Glad I could help!
I love Alice In Chains. I mean I looooovvvve the music. But it is in no way a cure for depression. It’s like relapse fuel.
Rhabdo B if you understand anything about depression you’d know that being able to connect with a musician through your own interpretation of a song makes you feel less isolated as you share a common struggle with another human and likely a larger group of humans. The expression of the difficulty of the human condition through art is one of the most uplifting, uniting aspects of humanity for those who can understand it.
No kidding just got a new Guild today gonna be working on these! Peace & love from Jax Fl!
I'm glad you decided to do this in tribute of my favorite band. They truly had the best unplugged. Great job 🤙
They’re all so simple, but yet extremely powerful
Favorite band... One of the best mtv unplugged ... Along with Nirvana and Pearl jam.
Thanks for this. I wake up and 2 am from yet another nightmare. Turn on my youtube and see this video. This video brings back so many memories. Gotta go watch tge show now. Been a while since ive watched it.

Any chance of summa di full length versions? Frogs, Over now, Sludge Factory and Heaven beside you in particular. Cheers.
Yes, maybe one or two in the future. Thought it'd be easier to put them in one video.
@@bloxsy_ It'd be muchly appreciated 😋 technically can do it on me own, can't be bothered, though these pieces deserve to get learned by heart. Cheers

Oh man please make an entire version of "Down in a Hole"
Excellent. Jar of Flies has always been my favourite, especially Rotten Apple, Nutshell, I Stay Away. The heavy stuff doesn’t do as as much for me.
You have a gift for tone man...incredible
You play these very well. Also, I love your guitar. It's beautiful.
