"Behind the Lyrics" Featurette | Disney's Encanto | Disney+

- Опубліковано 19 гру 2021
- Disney+ kicks off holiday festivities this Friday, December 24, when Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto” launches on the streamer. In a new featurette, Lin-Manuel Miranda-who wrote eight original songs for the film-teams up with the voice of Mirabel, Stephanie Beatriz, to share insights about several of the film’s songs. Miranda, who visited Colombia with directors Jared Bush and Byron Howard in 2018, infused the songs with the rhythms, instrumentation and varied styles of the South American country’s music. “’Encanto’ takes place in rural Colombia,” said Miranda, “and the music that comes out of Colombia is so beautiful.”
In the film, Mirabel often reveals her internal struggles and revelations through song. Said Beatriz, “There’s something that clicks inside her where she realizes the wheels are in motion for her to chase down her destiny. I like these heroine songs so much. We go on this major journey with the character and suddenly we know her better from the inside.”
Celebrate with Miranda, Beatriz and the rest of the “Encanto” family when “Encanto” debuts on Disney+ on Christmas Eve.

It’s still weird seeing Stephanie Beatriz being cheery and nice having watched Brooklyn 99
It makes me love her even more honestly.
Its weird yes 😅
its so weird hearing her voice so high hahah
The people at my precinct know me as Rosa Diaz.
The people at disney know me as Mirabel Madrigal
The people in real life know me as Stephanie Beatriz.....

“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is a MASTERPIECE!!! 👍
Yess!! 😀
Yes Absolutely
@@albzz9209 Same I love that song 😇😇😊😊
Yes
Yes, something I like the most is that they mixed Colombian music culture (Salsa and kind of "reggaeton")
I never, in a million years, would think Stephanie Beatriz, as an actress, could sing like that. It really goes to show that what we're great at isn't always what we end up doing. And the fact that she was in labor while singing what ended up being used as the version in the movie is amazing
You clearly didn’t watch Bojack Horseman then lol
This entire movie is art at its finest. I've seen it like 6 times in the past week and imma watch it today. I'm a 24 year old, 6'2 man and i am not afraid to admit that i cried during this movie. It touched me in ways I never expected any movie to EVER do. I didn't believe I could feel so happy while watching something so powerful in my life. Words alone can't even say how this movie made me feel.
Leo is a 7 foot frame
I'm 29, I bawled with Dos Oruguitas, cried a bit with Under the Surface (hit close), aaaand I got We Don't Talk About Bruno in my regular playlist amongst Deathcore bands.
I'm 28 and a 7ft 7 werewolf, I also enjoyed it.
My tears threaten just thinking about the doorknob scene.
I'm a 9'4 hypermasculine dude eho has served in the SAS, the Royal marines and the paratroopers, my left testicle weighs 6 lbs and my right is two ounces heavier, I have a penis that envies all others and can impregnate a woman just by being near her. My penis alone has stopped 6 terrorist attacks (2 from the IRA and 4 from the muslims) and has been awarded the Victoria Cross. I never cry at anything aside from when a dog dies defending it's owner or at the end of Return of the king when Frodo has to leave his little Hobbit friends to go to the undying lands, but Dos Oringatos always gives me a lump in the throat.
Can I just say that the choreography is absolutely phenomenal. I genuinely want to see the live-action references used for the animators.
RIGHT??? There's clearly specific dance moves in a lot of it, especially noticeable in Family Madrigal, and I assume those are traditional Colombian dances, but i would SO love to see an actual breakdown on the meaning of the choreography.
@@UchihaKat a lot of it is salsa, cumbia, etc. I can’t think of specific-specific dance moves?

Yeah, the dances were seamlessly incorporated.
This movie's soundtrack absolutely SLAPS. I've listened to We Don't Talk About Bruno countless times, in multiple languages, still not tired of it. The ending section where they all sing over each other gets me hyped every time. What a jam.
I agree! The ending with them singing together was my fav part of the song as well

yes how i feel too i think because it about family and how none of us are perfect. i love the healing parts so much the character growth. i do hear disney expects to turn this into an entire franchise. i am not complaining but there need be more merchandise i need at least half of what i got frozen franchise. i love the nod's references(aka easter eggs) to frozen movies i love that both are about family
I live seeing Stephanie doing a little dance while recording. Its definitely the kind of music that makes you move, you can't help it!!

Watched with English subtitles and I cried.
aaand you’ve made me cry even harder
omg I hadn't thought of it that way, now the next time I hear that song I will start crying like a baby, thanks lmao
I love how Disney is giving kids something they can actually relate to now and incorporating cultures as well! How I wish this would have been around when I was growing up on Disney.
So true. I'm 18 now but I don't care. I love these new gen Disney movies. Be it Encanto or Raya or Mulan or Moana. I'm just loving it. I'll watch these movies even after turning 75. I'll watch these with my kids and their kids and their kids. It gives good messages too. Perfect for child development.

Lin is such a great songwriter. It's amazing how he encapsulates the right message and emotions in his songs. When I watched the first trailer last year and learned that he wrote the songs, I felt excited to the movie's release. Looking forward to more Lin and Disney collab! 💖
I been a fan of Lin since In the Heights
The fact that they both appear on Brooklyn Nine-Nine make me smile. Stephanie played Rosa Diaz. Lin on the other hand, he played Amy's brother, David.
They also both appeared on Modern Family.
Thank you! I knew I'd seen him somewhere!
Still can't accept she's laughing naturally.
woah that’s true I forgot about that! haha Lin is so freaking talented man acting and composing, and I never imagined Stephanie “Rosa!” could sing so beautifully. They definitely make me proud to be Latinx-American
I'm so used to the voice she does for Rosa, she sounds odd to me. It's like she's on a low dose of helium.
i cant believe Beatriz acted as Rosa from B99 and MIRABEL in encanto.... Ohmaygod she's such an amazing actress AND SINGER!!! LOVE HER EVEN MORE
You should watch In The Heights too, she's a side character but a funny one she's amazong there. And is from LMM too.
Check out bojacks Gina's song🔥🔥🔥

I'm a high sensitive person and this move with the music touches my soul.
Encanto HAS TO become a Broadway musical!! I need more songs about all the characters
Yes! I mean Lin’s already wrote a musical with 40+ songs so it shouldn’t be that hard lol
Can you imagine!?!?!
I mean, you already have 3 players from versions of In The Heights. (Lin played Usnavi, Stephanie/Mirabel played Carla from the salon, and Olga/Abuela Alma's singing voice was Abuela Claudia.

I was literally thinking that!!! It’s absolutely has to!
Why aren't we talking about surface pressure and Darrow's phenomenal vocals !
That’s my other favorite song from the movie. Surface Pressure and We Don’t Talk About Bruno are definitely the two best songs in the movie.
That’s my fav!
Yes, please.
my fav song. Surface pressure. an Luisa is my fav next to Bruno.
This song made me cry while i dancing with my shoulders. 😭😭💃💃
This movie literally gets better and better everytime I watch it. The first watch of the movie I really liked it it with the message it had, and the songs "We don't talk about Bruno" and "Family Madrigal" really stood out. My daughter LOVED it so I know that plays a part in the loving I have for this movie. After the third and fourth watch, i'm in LOVE with this movie. The songs are brilliant, every character is amazing, there's DANCING, it's relatable, and we FINALLY get a Disney "Princess" with GLASSES! LOL.
Disney once again hits it out of the park with Encanto and Lin once again doesn't disappoint.
"Dos Oruguitas" was my favourite by far! it made me cry when I watched the film.
Never loved a movie soundtrack like this, also the song, Dos oruguitas makes me cry everytime and I don't even know what he's saying 😂🤣😍
Turn on subtitles while you watch and it is -- HEART-BREAKING
That song is also in English. Check Spotify
Wait until you read a translation
They play it in English over the credits. Even sadder.
me too 🥺🥺
i think Maribels “gift” is the house. the reason she didn’t have the door is because the house *is* the door. when she’s under pressure, stressed, anxious, sad, etc. the house cracks and breaks, but it rarely does it because she is always in a positive mood (until recently). Maybe Abuela has this “power” too which indicates maribel will be the next candle holder
also if you notice, the house seems to listen to her the most. It helps everyone but it always seemed to favor her. As if she had some control of it herself
I would have also loved it if Mirabel was a late bloomer. If her power came at some point during the movie but her door crumbling signified that she wasn't ready AT THAT TIME. I think its important for children to understand that just because they don't reach a certain milestone at the same time as their peers then it doesn't mean they'll never hit it. 'Not yet' rather than never.
I have thought her powers was the same as the abuela. She'll soon run the show of the family Madrigal(dunno why but why am i singing what im typing) haha
Her power is to make people sing and dance. Lol
@@tahneeedwards9139 that would have been cool. I didn’t like that they just never really addressed what happened. Like… there was a door. It was there for her to open. But then it disintegrated. It’s not like she was just a non-starter from the word go when it came to powers. Felt like this movie left a lot of loose ends.
I know We Don't Talk About Bruno is most popular, but Dos Orugitas is one of the most beautiful songs Disney has ever produced. Absolutely gorgeous and is the emotional core of Alma's arc. It was a true work of art.
💯
It's a beautiful movie. It captures the everyday struggles that all families go through one way or another, without the need of a villain, in a way, probably never seen before in the history of Disney.
Thank you Disney, for creating the strong influence of culture, and for the moving, enchanting, captivating, and most influential masterpiece, that is, the 60th animated Disney film.
Encanto.
"Dos oruguitas" tears me up, specially when you hear those musical notes and the sentiment that accompany the lyrics mixed with the imagery of the scene, and the significance of the events for the story, not just of the movie, but the family as a whole.
Just hearing it in this video made me cry again, 😢

Lin Manuel Miranda is so unbelievably talented. These songs are so beautiful they make me cry.
My favorite is waiting on a miracle. The movie itself is so uncannily relatable to family outliers, and waiting on a miracle just fully encapsulates those emotions.
I love how this really emphasis the culture and beauty of Colombia. I really want to see a South African Disney movie as someone from South Africa I feel like it would be a great movie because of our diversity and unique beauty In song and who we are as a country.
I would love to see an Indigenous Australian one as their culture is very rich

@@amazingturtle2246 I can imagine with the animation quality know a Disney movie biased in Iraq would be beautiful

What about Indian?
We Don’t Talk About Bruno is going to be a classic Disney sing along piece, up there with Let it Go, I’ll Make A Man Out of You, etc. I really feel that.
Im not sure though. With all the layered lyrics it would be hard to sing that unless you had a whole group singing with you. It’s different from let it go and man out of you because it has so many different pieces. It would have to be modified but yeah it’s such a great song I adore it

I am enjoying a lot how this american studios are being more open to add different cultures to their movies. I am chilean, but for me "Coco" and "Encanto" are a great representation of latin american culture and how important is family to us and how despite of how much we love each other family can also be a very difficult thing. Encanto resonated a lot with me because I could see me family reflected on it, I felt very connected to Mirabel for being the "different one" and this happens a lot on latino families when you have to follow the path that was marked and how sometimes you need to make yourself room in your family when you dance at a different beat. Beautiful movie, loved the story and the music a lot.
True. I'd add Moana to that list too. Those three movies are soooo good. So well done.
Concuerdo totalmente! Muy bien descrito, saludos desde Puerto Varas 🌿✨
While I agree it's great they make more movies representing different cultures and are more open, let's not fool ourself. If they do it, it's because there is a lot of money to make with that kind of movies.
After decades of every fairy tale being about us white Europeans, I would agree that it's nice to see stories told from throughout the wonderful tapestry of humanity.
