    Nice work. Your tutorials always are clear and detailed - so many shaky/blurry how-to videos out there. I'm hoping you get a Toyota Venza or Nissan Altima one day.

      Thank you. I would TOTALLY love to get a Venza. For a wagon, those things look great. They don't have the old "frumpy" wagon look. Honestly, I think they look bad ass! Right now, even the cheapest is out of my range for a budget beater though. If I ever get the chance, I would totally love to have one.

    Thanks for posting this video. I’m doing this job right now and I started questioning if I missed something because they weren’t moving. I’m also in Michigan so it’s rusty around there. I just need to keep working it.

      One thing that helps, that I had to do, was mount the wheel back on the hub, and kick the crap out of it alternating sides, top, and bottom to start wiggling it loose. Once you get it moving then it's not too hard to get it the rest of the way out.

    Nice & thanks for the detail. My '06 Vibe, at 185K, Left Rear bearing has intermittent grinding noise; sometimes quiet, sometimes not. Odd.

    Do you know if I could put ABS wheel bearing assembly is in a non-ABS ?

    • @MIFixItDad
      @MIFixItDad  2 роки тому

      I'm not entirely sure. I think physically it would, but not sure why you would even want to. The bearings with the ABS sensors are more expensive, and you wouldn't gain anything by using them.

    I have a FWD 2003 Pontiac Vibe. I am hear a clunking noise only when I lift off of the gas pedal and coast. So I don't think it's the tire. Did others have a similar clunking noise and was it the rear bearing? Thanks everyone

    I have a Vibe and I have a project that involves replacing the rear bearings, backing plates, and all the parking brake guts (2wd with rear disc). My thought is to use an air hammer on the rear side of the bearing where the sensor plug is to try and drive it out.
    My question is do you think it will blow apart or will it come out? I have no concern of it damaging anything since I'm replacing everything back there (both sides). I see other people doing it the way you did, and second guess myself with the thought that it can't be that simple. Just would like your, or anyone else(s) opinion on my idea. Thanks and good tutorial.

      @MIFixItDad  3 роки тому +1

      I think an air hammer might could work as long as you don't mind destroying everything. The aire hammer would come in really handy if you have a chisel point to separate that backing plate if it's highly corroded. When these get corroded, you gotta do what you gotta do. Putting the tire back on and using it to kick around the sides to work it loose does work pretty well too. Just gotta kick like you're trying to get even with that really annoying coworker no one likes.

      @@MIFixItDad Thanks for your reply, yeah I anticipate that this will be a fight. I have to do this because the backing plates are rotting away causing the parking brake to malfunction, and I know I'll destroy the parts removing the hub/bearing assembly. The rear disc setup is awkward on these adding to the fun. I cannot start until I get the backing plates, they are hard to find, and the most expensive of all the parts. I'll give an update when I'm done. Cheers from Wisconsin.

    How hard was it removing the bolts on my left rear I had limited space to get them out with a beaker bar

    • @MIFixItDad
      @MIFixItDad  2 роки тому

      Removing the bolts was a piece of cake. Removing the hub was a pain. It was corroded in place.

    Hi there a very helpful video. Can you please reply where did you get the rear wheel bearing from, and how much does it cost?

    • @MIFixItDad
      @MIFixItDad  3 роки тому

      Cost with shipping was about $54. I think I got these from Rock Auto, but don't remember for sure.

      I have a 09 Vibe and I'm looking at Rock Auto. The cheapest is about $52 (DURAGO 29512405)... maybe similar to what you bought? Is yours still holding up well? I hope it includes the ABS sensor, it looks like the back black piece is there in the pictures.

    • @MIFixItDad
      @MIFixItDad  3 роки тому

      @@joethompson9124 I got mine from a company called Auto Shack that has an E-Bay store, for about $50. That Durago part looks super close if not identical and it's held up very well so far. It does indeed have the ABS sensor. That's what the black connector is sticking out the back, the connector for the sensor.

    NEVER "BLOW" brake dust!!! rinse away with garden hose!

    • @MIFixItDad
      @MIFixItDad  3 роки тому

      It's not so bad these days to blow away the brake dust. I know what you're referring to though. Back in the "old days", there was asbestos in the brake pads, but that's not the case any more. Ceramic brakes can get incredibly small particles of what's basically a glass like material (the ceramic) in the air, which can also have harmful effects. Definitely not something to do indoors, but outside where the wind blows it away from you isn't as bad. Still, if you can wash it away vs blowing it away, that's the better choice.
