    Thank you for the shout out buddy! I love how that finish turned out, I imagine it could be easily sprayed with an HVLP gun too

      No worries mate! I’m not set up for spraying at all. So for the forseable future all my finishing will be non-spraying ones. That may change for an upcomming built-in build though. Or kitchen build. But those would then have to be sprayed in situ. Have you looked into spraying at all?

    That's such a handsome piece of furniture and looking better with every video. I hadn't come across this soap product before but I remember learning about white liming paste from Jocasta Innes' book in the eighties. She also demonstrated ageing of oak with caustic soda, which looked horribly dangerous. I think your efforts are much more acceptable and relaxing to watch. Thanks Gøran, good vid mate.

      Hi Mark! Nice to hear from you again. Yeah, I thought this would be an interresting way of finishing the white oak. At least it is different from the run of the mill hardwax oil finishes. It is a lot weaker though. But still, it is made for floors.
      Anyway, thanks for a nice comment. Cheers.

    I grew up in the 1960s when what they called Scandinavian blonde was all the rage and I hated the look back then. I guess age has a way of changing our minds about things we don't like as kids. I even like brussel sprouts now.. Probably a good thing that I wasn't in charge of buying all the furniture when I was 6 years old.. 😉

      Yeah. Fashions, trends and tastes change and go in circles. Luckily with wood finishes the tones can be adjusted. I’m looking really forward to seeing this media stand after all of has been finished with the white soap, and I get it out i to natural light. The shop lights have quite a cold temperature and lack a bit of red.
      Cheers. And thanks for watching and commenting.

    Your videos are great. It's a shame you don't post weekly.

      Thanks a lot! I’m trying my best to edit videos more frequently. I know many people don’t really enjoy shorts. But you can check out those for more frequent and up to date content.
      Anyway, thanks for the kind comment. Cheers.

    I treat my oak furniture with a saturated solution of soap (sæbespåner), and it works very well. Also, i might add, it is easier than the process you show. I am Danish, so maybe that's why 😉

      Hi and thanks for your comment. The use of hydrogenperoxide was just a test, and is not part of the prosess. So the only additional step is preparing it with lye. Apart from that your prosess sounds similar to mine. Or am i misunderstanding? Do you use natural soap or soap with any pigments like this white one with titanium oxide?
      Again thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers from Norway.

      @@NomadMakes Hi. No, i only use natural soap (såpespon) mixed with hot water in a very saturated form - it becomes slimy while warm, and a gel when cold. I let it sit for a while, and wash it off with clean water. Gives a light and silky finish!

      @pinkerbot Cool. That sounds like the traditional way :-) Do you experience any yellowing of the wood over time?

      @pinkerbot 10 місяців тому +1

      @@NomadMakes no, but i re-treat it maybe once a year, although with a much weaker solution. You zhould try it 🙂
