Omg I'm dying over here. I used to work for the marshmallow/wagon wheel company. I can't believe they're on your channel. I wouldn't recommend supporting them, they were not good employers. I'm so glad they're not approved🤣🤣
omg what a small world :/ haha
Yeah we’re really big on vegan food in the UK atm, especially in the last two years the industry has really boomed and every brand imaginable is rushing to get veganised products out, it’s so great compared to how little options you had about 4 years ago!
It’s also such a shame you couldn’t access the chilled foods! And with the jam biscuits they’re like a upmarket vegan version of a jammy dodger - which are actually vegan and so delicious
I Know I wanted to many chilled things too!
@@hotforfood Yeah I agree, it wasn't that easy to be vegan a few years ago but now most places have vegan options! if you can get chilled things try Richmond's vegan sausages, they are amazing.
@@hotforfood It states on the website under delivery that chilled items aren't available outside the UK so are UK exclusive.
there's even vegan Primula, Its getting easier, that's why my previous attempts at veganism divebombed, Very little suitable to eat and I was miserable.
Do I live in the UK? No.
Am I still gonna watch it and wish I had it? Yes.
😂
I have the privilege of living in the UK so having those products is great and not having to pay international shipping costs. Unfortunately their cosmetics or beauty products box is UK exclusive (not that Lauren needs it) but their lifestyle box can be sent worldwide. Natalie Wisler you can always move to the UK.
@@davidthescottishvegan I might just have to!!!
I'm in love with the Love Raw cream filled wafer bars, I missed Kinder Bueno so these were very welcome, I like them even more! I hope they come down in price (in the UK even)
Yes that's exactly what they're like!!! I couldn't think of that in the moment :D
They've just come out with white chocolate ones and they are magic!
I had to quit eating kinder bueno as they are too buenos 😆 dangerously addictive,
@@viviennehitw oh wow! White chocolate use to be my favourite I got to try the white one
The Jammy Wheels are a take on a traditional British biscuit, called Jammy Dodger, that is exactly like that: shortbread and jam, no frosting. They are gluten-free for us folks who are gluten intolerant as well as vegan or dairy-free and might miss a traditional biscuit like this.
Jammy Dodgers are actually vegan as well, just not gluten free.
That is the size of kettle chips we get in the UK, Sheese is a brand over here! They do great cheese.
Same size bag in Belgium :) But the chips are good, even for a non-vegan ;)
Vegan Kind is WONDERFUL! I drive past their warehouse on my way to work and it makes my heart glad every single time ❤
Yay thanks for making a UK video! The way you pronounced Derbyshire melted my heart a little ♥️♥️♥️
haha was it bad :/
@@hotforfood Haha it's pronounced like "Darby-sher" :)
I love The Vegan Kind Lifestyle monthly box!! Highly recommend
"Just a couple of dry biscuits and a very small amount of jam" 🤣🤣
So those jam cookies are meant to be like this popular brand in the UK called Jammy Dodger which is literally jam in a biscuit, they are like classic British childhood snacks 😊 However, the original Jammy Dodger's are actually vegan last time I checked!! 😃😍
okaaay but I want creamy icing hahaha
Actually the original Jammy Dodgers have been vegan since July last year.
@@hotforfood 😂😂😂😂
@@davidthescottishvegan ohhh, I don’t have them anymore so I had no idea it was that recent! 😯 just remember randomly seeing it in the shop one time and looked at the ingredients ☺️
@@hotforfood yes, a gap in the market for sure (with creamy filling)!
Cheese and onion is a popular flavour in the UK, that's also a normal sized share bag for us. I think the biscuits are based on jammie dodgers which are delicious 😋. The chocolate bar seems to be like a kinder bueno which is kept in 2 seperate packets inside the original packet to keep from melting and being smushed I believe as they're fragile, but I do agree with the amount of plastic being bad. 😋 Yummy!
The wafer chocolate is the vegan version of Kinder Bueno, the packaging is the same. Its mostly made to share or like a portion control thing as its a kid treat.
I ordered a little box of these vegan kinder Buenos and I was disappointed that they still wrapped them individually 😂😂😂
I live in London and YES, vegan food and vegan options are plenty here. Im sure there is a vegan option in every restaurant/coffee shop and fast food shop.
it's so greaT!
@@K.Kitbex I'm dying to try Kite Hill! I hope it makes its way over!
That wafer bar looks amazing; I heard about it ages ago and I’m glad you tested it! This was such a good review, these products looks so interesting!
I recently discovered the love raw wafer bars and can't stop eating them! They really remind me of kinder buenos SO tasty!
I love the vegan kind supermarket. You can eat healthy and happily just going to the grocery store but for a (pricey) treat and you can get it mailed to you, its well worth it once in a while. They have all kinds of vegan savoury and confectionary treats plus loads meat, dairy and egg alternatives. 🤤
I've been vegan for 45 years (before it was the trend)! You didn't see much in the way of vegan food back then, so I just ate plain and simple food. Brown rice, potatoes, lentils, beans, fruit and tons of greens. That is still my diet now and at 64, I'm fit and healthy, run, swim, lift weights and walk miles with the dog. I'm on no medication, am a non smoker and tee total. I've never regretted my decision to go vegan.
Oooo, that Kinder-Bueno dupe by Love Raw looks so yum! I’ll have to ask my son to send me some, as he’s in London now.
Aldi has accidentally vegan turkey and stuffing chips in the US around Thanksgiving and they are super tasty! Last year I crushed them up and used them to bread some seitan turkey cutlets and pan fried them for my vegan Thanksgiving meal and they were amazing!
good to know!
Wow, you're really creative Jennifer 👏
Love the bosh chips and wafer bar..Need to buy them soon lol
I'm Canadian and in the UK for school and yeah there are so many more vegan options in grocery stores here!
Oh Those Sheese & Onion Crisps Are So Amazing!😍 I Need To Try The Cream Filled Wafer Bars Asap🤤
So good!
Loved this, thanks for doing a UK one of these!
Glad you enjoyed it!
YAY!! Love it when you have a new video out!!!
Yay! Thank you!
Yes we do have a big community of Vegans in the UK. Those Kettle crisps our big back in the UK. Also the Jam biscuits are like the jammy Dodgers we dip into tea. Ella does very good food. The bliss balls are lush. I've not tried those crackers but they would be nice dipped in houmous. Your making me hungry. Always make sure there is no Palm oil as I prefer Orangutans. ❤💛💚
Totally my favorite segment "Hot for Food Approved"
You rock! Thanks!
Watching this video while snacking on a LoveRaw bar. They are very much approved, even the new white chocolate ones!
They are! ya I need to try that white chocolate one!
Loved this episode! At least the ones that weren't approved looked tasty & presentable! Haha!
I’ve never heard of an icing on the jammy’s biscuits. I think it’s quite american (version). I love them as they are with no icing. Too sugary. The waffles are supposed to mimic Kinder buenos. That’s why they are individually packed. Like the original ones.
Fox's make a jam sandwich cream biscuit but they're not vegan as they contain milk, unfortunately.
I am obsessed with those jammy dodgers everybody is talking about. They actually sell them here in Los Angeles, at this little Irish store in eagle rock called Kitty O’Shea.
love wafer is comparable to buenos , it has also the hazelnut and wafers. Also would love if you did a canada version !!!!
You need some English tea with your biscuits. The marshmallow cookie thing was such a bummer, they were so cute.
I love Lauren Toyota! Shout out to Russell the Rollercoaster Vegan! :-)
Ahhhhhh so excited to watch this 😍
🥳
@@hotforfood come to Glasgow! Amazing vegan food there ❤️
The Love Raw bar is a copy of a Kinder Bueno bar that we have in the Uk. They’ve just bought a white chocolate version out 💜
This is like a dream ✨✨✨
mhhhm
Lauren you should come to England (specially Bristol)! We have so many vegan options and restaurants, you'd love it :D
I know I need to! I went a long time ago and found finding vegan pretty hard
Nigella seeds are also called onion seeds and are used in curry a lot.
someone said they are fennel seeds
Upon further reading elsewhere the term ‘onion seed’ is a nickname because they look like onion seeds but yes I think they are related to the fennel or cumin plant!
@@hotforfood They are definitely not fennel seeds! I would call them black onion seeds. They have a strong, distinctive flavour and are delicious in homemade naan bread
The jam cookies are supposed to be a dupe for jammy Dodgers in the uk (a 90s biscuit favourite!)
Love your channel ❤
Nigella seeds are black cumin. Similar to a blend between a black poppy seed and cumin.
The VeganKind is one of my favourite businesses. I love their products and their ethics equally.
9.16 YES I was waiting for the wide eyes 👀👀 😂 I'm so glad you like the Love Raw Bar ♥️ they're an absolute face of mine !
Love the vegankind , use then ALL the time . Best uk online vegan store
The mackies vgn prawn cocktail crisps and the rhythm 108 almond choc bar is my go to
UK vegan person here! Just my thoughts :)
Kettle Chips - that's the size of all large/sharing bags here, in the main. They're fairly thick crisps in comparison to normal crisps like Walkers, which is why I'm not a massive fan. We call all 'potato chips' crisps, regardless of thickness.
2nd one (I've forgotten the name) - they are the vegan version of Jammie Dodgers, a UK classic, which is two biscuits with jam in between like those.
Yep, you guys call nigella seeds "carraway seeds".
Wafer bar - they're meant to be like kinder bueno I think. Never heard of them before but they look incredible.
Derbyshire is pronounced "darby-sheer".
I think the last ones are meant to be like wagon wheels? Honestly I think they're just completely original. It seems like a fab idea that hasn't been well executed?
Thanks for a great video Lauren xx
WHOAAA i would have definitely expected a crisper american style kettle chip!! I wish I could find them in the states!!
I can’t believe it is #6 already!
As I’m French, I would approve what you disapprove 😬 the biscuit would be too sugary with additional icing and I love the chocolate bar, it’s a dupe of Kinder Bueno that we all grow with here in Europe and it’s the exact same package as it’s very delicate ! ♥️
Aww that sucks you didn’t like the Jammy Dodger - they were such a classic when I was a kid.. might have to go get some!! I’m gluten intolerant so this made so happy to see!
Canadian living in the UK here. Crisps are much thinner than Canadian chips, lays which are called walkers in the UK almost transparent they are so thin. So the kettle chips are thick in comparison but much more like regular Canadian chips haha. The bag size for these crisps are smaller than regular kettle crisps in uk, no idea why, bit annoying as they are still more expensive. Also generally dont have as many good chip flavours and the seasoning is always a lot lighter. So the sheese kettle crisps pack a punch in comparison (therefor probably my favourite option here because of this).
Def better vegan options in the UK for junk food and pre made stuff than Canada. I think its more because culturally they have lots of pre-made dinners (fresh not frozen). Also more stuff trying to be exactly like meat because they love meat so much here. Less vegan stuff that’s healthier and not trying to be like meat but just taste good like field roast. I miss field roast haha, but will miss being able to get good vegan ravioli at a regular supermarket.
The Love Raw has a white chocolate option now 😋
I heard!
Trader Joe’s sells the stuffing chips around Thanksgiving in the US.
the hazelnut duo bar is supposed to be like Bueno bars!
The word you're looking for is envy ;'-)
Trader Joe's has a stuffing flavored chip during the holidays too! They are accidentally vegan (hopefully they don't change the formula like they have been on a few of their items). RIP chocolate covered pretzels.
I live in the UK. Agree with what you said about great vegan products and collabs etc. but all I really want is JustEgg lollll
also The Vegan Kind is such a special company, what they are doing is so important and they also stock considerit chocolate donuts which are the best donuts in the world!
hmmm can I get those!
I looooove the cookies
which ones? Jammies or those wack biscuits?
@@hotforfood jammies!! But i Just saw you don't like that 😅! I love everything made with oat flour!
This is hilarious! Sad that you scrolled past the vegan creme eggs!! The marshmallows biscuits are imitation wagon wheels.
beacuse I ordered this in Jan I don't think those were out yet!
@@hotforfood round 2???
Hey Lauren my wife and I are making pumpkin cheesecake pinwheels in your new cook book how long do they last in the ridge and can you freeze them?? Thank you for the book hope to hear back
def freeze if you wont get through them in a week!
If I am remembering correctly, Ella and Matt did have a contract with airlines to provide their products but it got canceled with the pandemic! I could be wrong though, but I believe you have the right idea!
oh wow!!! I'm psychic
It's because of the nuts - allergies.
The Jammy wheels look like Jamie Dodgers🥺🥺🥺
I work at TheVeganKind 😂❤️
no waaaay!
Yeah! I package orders for them ❤️
Thanks for a UK Vegan snacks video and disappointed only 3 items became hotfood approved.
Lauren are these from xmas.. are they possibly expired especially that last one 😂 LOL
well I ordered this and shot it in January LOL
I would recommend "Jeavons Toffees" who make vegan toffees and chocolates. Try their "Rabble" bars in hazelnut or peanut. They are covered in vegan milk chocolate and the most delicious thing I have eaten (apart from all those wondersful fruits and veggies!) since becoming vegan. I would be astonished if you did not immediately approve them if you like chocolate. They're handmade in small batches by a vegan couple in Brighton on England's south-east coast. Honestly, try them! You won't regret it. I almost wish I hadn't discovered them because I am going to have a hard time losing weight with these available to me, LOL!
sounds yum! thanks for the recommendation
Other than the chips and crackers, you have picked dupes for UK snacks. The Jammy Wheels are a vegan Jammy Dodger. The wafer chocolate is a kinder bueno dupe and that final one is a Wagon Wheel alternative. Also, just so you know, in the UK, we don’t have sour cream and onion chips, we have cheese and onion chips, so the Bosh collab is a vegan version of one of our most popular chip flavours.
I'm actually surprised she didn't pick up on that because we have all of those in Canada.
I've never heard of a Jammy Dodger haha
signed up for the lifestyle box. prefer bricks and mortar stores. I want to try cashew based cheese, its expensive though. I can only afford the coconut oil based ones. they're even worse for you than dairy. For hard to find items though....
How did Bosch collaborate with kettle? Hmmm
It’s a shame you didn’t order jammy dodgers! They’re amazing
re: the crackers- nigella is fennel, aka black cumin seeds
aaaah!
Yes!!! From one Canadian vegan to another- please please please do a cheese collab, with a Canadian vegan cheese maker! Maybe with Daiya, Basic Roots, Pulse Kitchen, Nuts For Cheese, VegCheese, BlueHeron??? That would be so rad!
Also- on the theme of UK vegan treats- if you haven’t already, you must try Amy Levin’s bonbons. I ordered her mint crisp truffles a year ago and am still thinking of them... though the hot LA temps may be a problem for shipping to you now... if so, please move back to Canada, hahaha jk. Worked out to about $5 Canadian per truffle, and totally worth it!!! www.amylevin.co.uk also on IG... I have no sponsorship for this, they’re just really good.
ooooh!
Trader Joe’s has the turkey and stuffing chips during Thanksgiving and they’re vegan
oh dang! had no idea
not a UK brand, but you should try schmilk if you haven't before! they're the best vegan chocolate bars. truly taste just like milk chocolate and melt in your mouth. www.schmilkchocolate.com/
that marshmallow bit is the most tragic part... the texture def didnt look right. 👀💀
i feel so bad cos it looks as if so much craft was put into making that!!
I was really bummed out for you that the marshmallow cookie was a fail. You looked so disapointed. After watching the thing fall apart in your hands i was dying for you to say 'oh well that how the cookie crumbles' 😂
oh damn I am not smart enough for puns LOL
@@hotforfood 😆
So could we send food over to you and you would test it on camera? Greets from the Netherlands
sure!!!
The "May contain..." warnings are a pet peeve of mine. Over here in the UK most products list that it may contain every allergen under the sun. Why not just take some responsibility in ensuring that something that isn't in the ingredients list doesn't get into your product?
They are not allowed to put suitable for vegans if there is anything but plant based ingredients in the product
Those “pong sized cookies” look a little sketch 😅
lol
I wish you had asked a British person to recommend you snacks before you ordered! Smh
lol
Since you only approved 3 products Lauren didn’t get her money's worth. I haven't tried the Turkey stuffing flavour Mackie chips but have tried the Haggis and Black Pepper flavour(also labelled suitable for vegans and vegetarians) you need to try that. The original jammy dodgers would of been a better option. Delicious Ella also has other options (all vegan) that would of been better.
