Okay, so... a few things when it comes to this reveal. 1) Ralsei has always had it in him to be annoyed or upset with someone but for the most part he's kind of a pushover, even when he thinks certain people are in the wrong with their methods... The fact that he actually puts his food down and goes "No, what the Hell are you guys doing, are you insane?!" when Susie, Noelle, and Berdly are all in agreement that they should make another Dark Fountain because the Dark World is pretty great overall is actually pretty jarring, even if he doesn't use those exact words. It's a good indicator that what he's saying is deadly serious, though. 2) Ralsei mentioned in Chapter 1 that should the balance of Light and Dark ever go out of sync, disaster would strike, even mentioning that the Earth would split open like what he says here. Since Susie had just met Ralsei when he told her and Kris this and she was DEFINITELY not feeling the whole "destined hero" thing, it's not surprising she wouldn't take it in, nor that she'd recall that when considering whether or not to create a new Dark Fountain. That being said, these new details about the Titans arising from the Earth, Darkners turning to statues, and Lightners being left alone to defend themselves against the Titans feels like really important details that Ralsei should have mentioned when explaining the prophecy. It's like he expected to Susie, Kris, and the other Lightners to either already know this or to just seal each new Dark Fountain that arises and not really question why they have to, which brings me to my next point: 3) Ralsei's expectations and what he assumes people will do or what they are doing are all over the place. This was pretty obvious when Kris and Susie first met Ralsei and how Ralsei was shocked that Susie wouldn't "play along" with his hero narrative, but it's at this point that things really come to a head. He seemed to legitimately think that Kris, Susie, and the others will just know that creating new Dark Fountains is bad inherently and that they need to seal them, almost as if he expects everyone to be familiar with "The Roaring". This even applies to the villains, too; Ralsei seemed to assume Queen knew about the Roaring and that's why she wants to create another Dark Fountain, despite the fact that she's repeatedly said throughout Chapter 2 that she wants to rule the world, which she kind of can't do if the Titans rise up and all the Darkners, including her, turn to statues. 3.5) This kind of ties into my previous point but isn't unique enough to be it's own point, but it's this kind of behavior on Ralsei's part that makes people untrustworthy of Ralsei after Chapter 2. In Chapter 1, him trying to insist that he, Kris, and Susie are heroes who need to fulfill their destiny by sealing the Dark Fountain at Card Castle feels like cute playfulness, one that no one really questioned because his behavior is just so darn wholesome and adorable. Now, with these new revelations, along with other things like him knowing about the nature of Darkners in the Light World, knowing where his castle town is located in terms of the school and even where Kris and Susie ended up when leaving the Dark World, the fact that Lancer and other Darkners will turn to statues if not in their original Dark World or in the castle town yet somehow he's fine, and the fact that he's clearly withholding information from Kris and Susie unless it's relevant or if someone (normally Susie) questions it, it's made a whole lot of people turn on Ralsei, questioning his motivations and even suspecting some sort of shadier, even sinister motivation behind all of it. For myself, while it's pretty clear that Ralsei's behavior is suspicious and Kris and Susie should definitely question it more than they have been, I feel like Ralsei's personality, particularly when things don't go his way, is also revealing. The fact that the Lightners wishing to create another Dark Fountain is the ONLY time Ralsei lost his cool and got legitimately angry with anyone is rather telling, especially since, as I've said before, he has a certain narrative in his head that he expects everyone to play along with. If Ralsei truly did have malevolent motivations with what he was doing, I'd suspect he'd lose his cool more, particularly when Susie decided she wasn't going to be a hero anymore and was going to be a bad guy with Lancer instead. But even setting that aside, I have no reason to suspect that what Ralsei is doing is ultimately bad or evil. His methods may be questionable, but I suspect he ultimately had good intentions behind it all. ...Thanks for everyone who bothered to read this, this has been knocking around my head since I finished chapter 2, glad I got it all out there.
No these are some legitimately good points. I definitely do think that Ralsei knows more than he has let us know, but I don't believe it's anything sinister. I think it's something more like, he knows something is wrong with Kris, he just hasn't brought it up on screen yet. Specifically, I'd draw attention to the moments where he has you shift perspective to Susie. This seems to indicate Ralsei has some level of awareness about the player seeing and controlling things. It makes me wonder if he talks to Kris while the cameras focus is on Susie. Tells Kris what needs to happen to achieve liberation from the Player. After all, this is the only time where we as the player are not witnesses of what the two are doing.
him not turning to stone can be explained as when he says the castle town fountane is made of PURE DARKNESS so anyone can live in it so since hes made from pure darkness be able to live in all fountains keeping it equal
@@josea6553 Maybe not terrified in that sense, but there's definitely genuine dread. Look at him during the explanation of The Roaring- he's grim and quiet, and his face is shadowed. That's not acting. That's the face of someone that knows exactly how the world could die and wishes they didn't know. How? No idea. But Ralsei is definitely still a good guy, even if he's acting weird. Not evil- just hiding things for his own reasons.
I'm pretty sure that Ralsei was the sole survivor of a previous Roaring, hence why the scene is in sepia like a flashback: It has happened before. And, Castle Town was the Light World before the Roaring, and is built on dead, or even worse, dormant, Titans.
If the story about the roaring is true, and I think it is , I would not blame Ralsei fore turning against Kris if he founds out that he createt a Dark Fountain.
How did i never thought about it!!?!?! Ralsei wants balance and kris just creates a fountain? I am curious about how he will react...or if it was already planned when Ralsei talked to Kris during Susie and Noelle cutscene
You know... This also means that something completly innocent, cute and hearthwarming (Ralsei - Don't Forget) Could be used as well for something hopeless, terrifying and heartless.... Oh no.
Never has a track made me feel so... scared. But not in a "Somethings coming for you, hide!", more so a "Something terrible is going to happen, inevitably" sense.
All people saying why he never mentions the roaring, he actually talks about world destruction in the original history from chapter one. He does not put a name, or talk about the titans because there was only one portal more open. And I think he never thought that somebody would think of opening lots of portals since having only one more is actually bad and dangerous. Maybe is in the manual that we never read also hahaha. I saw it more as an expansion of the lore for the future chapters and Toby giving us hints of what is going on slowly, for suspense, than actually something going wrong with Ralsei.
Ralsei: "Seriously! How do you not know this? It was in the manual!" Berdly: "I'm a modern gamer, we don't really do manuals anymore. We usually wait for the lore to be explained in cutscenes or secret boss fights." Everyone: "..." Spamaton and Jevil: "..."
He just kind of assumes people know what he knows, he's naive like that. In fact, in this very scene it's revealed that Queen DIDN'T know about the Roaring, something Ralsei is clearly surprised by. He just thought Queen was just another Megalomaniac vying for power, and it's possible he was just concerned about people being worried if they new the potential danger if they fail.
@@ermacorsomething Maybe the deltarune version of the omega flowery fight will be the gang failing at stopping the next villain at making dark fountains and then the roaring occurs and kris has to fight a Titan all alone with his friends dead
The dark vibe of this song really emphasizes to me what The Roaring would be like. An empty abyss where you are all alone. Blackness so deep that no light will ever penetrate its inky fountains. Nobody can hear you. A wasteland of depression filled with statues. But even though they can't speak up to comfort you their words still echo faintly beneath the despair. "I'm with you in the dark".
That line is more depressing than it is comforting. Honestly, it’s more “I’m suffering in this darkness” than it is “I’m with you here, and will do my best to survive and help you”.
@@ltxansta3327it's down to how you see it them being with you in the dark could be depressing, it could be frightening, but it could also be the one thing you have to hold on to
Whenever I see Ralsei just shift tones like this, it makes me wonder if he really is that innocent goat everyone claims he is. Why is he the only one completely aware of what's going on? Something is not right.
Odd how Ralsei also managed to cross between their Dark World to the other, when there's no gap between them for him to traverse, without leaving the Dark World itself. He absolutely knows more than he lets on, and he's doing it on purpose. The Knight has been mentioned twice now, and not even a remark had came from Ralsei about anything regarding said Knight. I think there's more to the Knight themselves, too. I don't think they were really revealed at the end of the Chapter, either, and is still an active entity. Maybe the Knight is the real ally, and Ralsei is a lying usurper? Maybe the Legend itself was fabricated by Ralsei to undermine the Knight, can't say for certain, but I think it's an interesting theory. Especially since the Knight had already directly gotten involved with both the King and Queen of Spades, Jevil, and Spamton.
Let’s not forget that the kingdoms where the fountains open up at have existed for quite some time, it seems, and Ralsei instructs us to close the fountains and bring everyone to his kingdom and fountain, as every time a fountain closes, the kingdom and its people stop existing as Darkeners and become everyday objects.
@@semmieb3e127 The kingdoms existing for a long amount of time could just be something like false memories, or an indication that time passes by faster in the dark world.
@@semmieb3e127 Trying to undermine the other Dark Worlds to benefit his own. Makes you think how truthful they really are. Consider this though, if they're lying about everything, including the Legend, then how is Kris closing those other Dark Fountains, since he made it clear that it would be done together by the 3 of them, not just Kris? What if instead of closing the Fountains, Kris is absorbing all that Darkness into them too, specifically into their soul, which might be causing them to into those moments of 'losing control,' or 'gaining control' I suppose.
My headcanon is that he assumes everybody already knows everything, so he only reveals things when someone is going to act out of blatant lack of knowledge.
Okay so. All I've heard so far on every video regarding this track/scene is that Ralsei is hiding something and "why didn't he tell us this?" And "That's information we could've used" 1. We could not have used this information for anything. 2. We already knew that letting these dark fountains mess with the balance of light and dark would have dire consequences, Ralsei tells us this in chapter 1. He doesn't need to get i to specifics if there's a way to prevent it from even happening. 3. We all have our theories with how he was behaving this chapter...we all saw it. But that doesn't automatically make everything he does suspicious. Be suspicious but not every little thing implies anything large. Even if we have our reasons to be suspicious. 4. Get the banana.
Nice explanation, but there's something that's been bothering me since I finished the game and I've yet to see theories related to this moment... *...Why get the banana?...* 🗿
he did not state, though, that sealing a fountain would not just eliminate the threat of 'darkness' from the land, but DESTROY THE VERY LAND ITSELF, did he? And while the people can be saved, and that's GOOD, the way they're framed as 'recruits', isss, uhhhh
Everyone in the comments saying "Ralsei's hiding something from us". But this is Toby Fox we're talking about. He's known for the weird plot twists that are hard to predict. Playing this angle of Ralsei being up to no good behind the scenes just because he knows things we don't seems too "easy", too cliche. Also if I'm going to do a 4th wall break here, this is chapter 2 of a 7 chapter game. Ralsei is being used as an outlet for lore dumps here; we can't get ALL the lore in just the first chapter lol, so I think it's flawed thinking to say "WHY DIDN'T HE TELL US THIS SOONER??"
I think it should also be stated that a lot is already going on as is due to the twist of Kris potentially being the Knight, Chara obviously existing in this universe in some fashion, and Gaster's inclusion in all of this is already flooding a good portion of the story. Ralsei being a manipulator may run the risk of cluttering the story with a lot of running plotlines. Besides, a good portion of his mannerisms seem genuine like his boat ride with Kris and his talks of being lonely as a kid lining up with the fact that he was literally the only one in his kingdom by the time Kris and Susie arrive in chapter 1.
I feel like the plot twist is that Ralsei will try and free Kris from our control, that or is trying to convince Kris that being controlled by us is a good thing
Honestly Ralsei being evil, Kris being the knight and The Player NECESSARILY being an evil entity controlling an unwilling Kris all seem like red herrings. 1. Ralsei being evil is too easy and obvious, not the mention that the roaring is mentioned by Jevil. He knows more than he lets on, but I doubt he's lying. 2. Several Darkeners are said to have met the knight. Why don't they recognize Kris? Why was Kris visibly afraid of the dark world closet in ch 1 despite them supposedly being the knight? The queen said anyone with enough determination can open a fountain anyway. Kind of early in the game's progression for a plot twist of that magnitude. 3. Undertale/Deltarune never hold the player accountable for actions that they were forced to do (like fighting Asgore or Flowey for example). You, The Player is never seen possessing Kris, or (willingly) disconnecting from them. You just wake up inside of them. You're chained to them. You're *forced* to possess them specifically. The puppeteer is ironically trapped inside of their own puppet. The Player can't be necessarily evil for possessing Kris, since you don't have a choice in that matter (unlike the snowgrave route, where you ARE in fact evil).
YES! Thank you for pointing it out. There's something foreboding and full of dread with this track, but there's also a feeling of melancholy, and yet is somehow comforting and hopeful. I think it's the use of the Don't Forget leitmotif, which has mostly been used in positive connotations.
Honestly this soundtrack caught me off guard because in Undertale, we had Once Upon a Time. In Deltarune Chapter 1, we had The Legend. And then all of a sudden, there was *this.*
But something I'm trying to figure out: The Knight is actually _trying_ to bring about The Roaring, and bring about the apocalypse. But *WHY?!* Why awaken The Titans from their slumber, petrifying the Darkners and spread the destruction? Whoever The Knight is, and whatever their motivation, they need to be stopped.
@@thegameknight8916 The KNIGHT is probably a Gaster fragment. Good Luck trying to stop HIM Honestly, i think KNIGHT is the "Insane" part of Gaster. The one that made him create the *GASTER GONER* If i had to Guess, he's trying to bring THE ROARING (or maybe the ANGEL'S HEAVEN from chapter 1) to make people feel what he felt when he was shattered across Time and Space. A cold empty, endless void, where there is nothing but Darkness. After all, isn't the end result of the roaring awfully similar to what Gaster Saw in entry 17 ? Just before he reached the point of no return by using his invention.
@@laguet93 That's... A disturbing thesis. And if my hypothesis that Insane Gaster is the Greater-Scope Villain is right, (and I hope I'm not,) then he's going to be a bitch to fight. However, there's also implications that Chara is a part of this somehow.
@@thegameknight8916 Well, imo KNIGHT isn't the original Gaster but merely a fragment gone rogue The "true" Gaster would be the voice in chapter 1's intro that also appears during a game over and that has taken over Toby's twitter upon the release of each chapter, and he seems to be on our side. I defenetly think Chara IS involved, the ending of chapter 1 clearly hints at that (i'm not buying any of that "Kris used a knife to eat the pie BS : what about the Red eyes, Toriel's dialogue where she seems to be murdered, and most of all, how did the soul get back in Kris' body ? We never Saw him reabsorbing the SOUL)
Deltarune seems to be a story about childhood escapism and growing up, and this scene in particular conveys that to me; Noelle wanting to live "where everything can be healed with a little spell" and Berdly's naive heroism are interrupted by Ralsei giving them a dose of cold reality- "the dark truth" that the world isn't like that. It's masterfully done and I can't wait to see where this story goes next!
[[Toothpaste Boy]]: WE NEED TO SEAL THE [Fountain]S OR ELSE THE [[Earth will explode]] LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE NEXT CHAPTER: [Lets make more fountains]
I feel like Ralsei was kinda justified with not mentioning this until now, until that point it he had no need to fully emphasize how bad the events would really get, and nobody asked for specifics. I do think betrayal and secretiveness isn't off the table though, just it'd likely have a pretty solid reason for it. Those two reasons either being his identity as Ralsei, or something relating to The Legend. That is till we find hints to other potential reasons.
I had a dream last night where the world ended, and I could hear this song playing in the post apocalyptic aftermath. Praying the same doesn't happen in Deltarune!

Sounds like something out of Chrono Trigger, and I'm all for it. Everything about this whole scene gives me actual chills, The Roaring's description, at least to me, honestly fucking terrifies me, sounds and looks like an actual unsalvagable armagedon, makes me scared about something that has not happened and will probably not happen, but the possibility of it happening is ever present, especially the possibility of this scene forshadowing it actually happening at one point (bad route or not) because honestly I'm straight up not gonna want to see it. And just the fact that I'm already dreading the event from this scene without even knowing if it'll actually even happen in-game just speaks volumes as to how well made this scene is imo.
The game has some very pessimistic undertones. Anything involving Seam suggests that he has basically given up, although he seems to hold out some hope once you start collecting shadow crystals. Both Jevil and Spamton seem to have been driven insane, Jevil recognising that he's in a video game and treating the rest of the world like they're in prison, and Spamton desperate to break his 'strings' and 'become big'. Those are the big ones, but Ralsei himself is rather mono-focused. It might be suspicious, or it might be that Ralsei is simply so afraid of the Roaring that everything else is a sideshow to him. When he wonders what it would be like to be 'Ralsei-like', it could simply mean that he's been under so much pressure with the matter that he's had no chance to be himself. Hence why he forces himself to be a polite guide (he seems to hint at not being as happy about his doormat status as he seems on the outside, especially when Susie lands on him). Basically, anyone who knows anything in this universe either seems to regard the situation as desperate or hopeless.
What I’m excited about is that it has the Don’t Forget leitmotif in it, which i personally believe is about the roaring as well. not to mention “The Dark Truth” and a lyric in Don’t Forget being “Shining in the cold with the Truth…” and to wrap it all up, “I’m with you in the dark.” Honestly it leading up to when the roaring happens (why else would it be in the story) it wouldn’t surprise me if you have to remember the good memories of your friends like in the Asriel Dreemur fight to battle a titan or titans.
I think to him, it's a prophecy that everyone should know... or that they should've at least been informed about by other darkners. That's why he just said "the Roaring" at first and then when he realised the lightness didn't know, he explained.
Don't forget that both Susie AND Kris know the gist of this, though not to this type of detail. Susie obviously wasn't listening to him the first time, so his anger is justified
I don't think it is, I think more that "something is gonna happen and the world in a Chaos and kills every lifeform" And "it's the least time this world in peace make the most of it if you will" and in peace and creeps everytime I hears it, But this for me at last.
When the LIGHT is subsumed by SHADOW... When the FOUNTAINS fill the sky... All will fall into _CHAOS._ The TITANS will take form from the FOUNTAINS... And envelop the land in *devastation.* The surviving Darkners, crushed by the darkness... _Will slowly, one by one, turn into statues..._ *Leaving the Lightners to fend for themselves.* _Lost eternally in an endless night..._ *Is that your idea of paradise?*
I'm going to predict right here right now that the Roaring eventually happens as part of the story and you end up aimlessly wandering around a black screen desperately trying to find some way to progress, then Don't Forget starts playing and Kris' soul actually starts to glow in conjunction with the line about the "light inside your soul", slowly revealing one of your friends (most likely Ralsei or Noelle) standing next to you singing it, with them being fully revealed right as they get to "Don't forget: I'm with you in the dark"
@@marshalllee6376 Maybe if you go with the genocide route. Toby definitely wouldn't have his game end on such a depressing note unless it's the bad ending
"The titans will take form from the fountains" In Ralsei's manual, he wrote: "Dedicated to the unending pillar of darkness that gives my body form". ua-cam.com/video/rksOYId-cNA/v-deo.html
I think you're missing the point of the fountains. All darkners are given form by the fountain and embody the fountain's 'will'. As are the dark worlds. As is Ralsei The titans are created if _too much_ darkness is created by there being too many fountains.

Interesting how the beginning of Your Best Nightmare is echoed in those beginning pulses at the start. Makes me think that The Roaring has something to do with a betrayal. But will it be Ralsei, who seems to know far more than he's letting on? Kris, who appears to want to create more Dark Worlds and may have a connection to the Knight that is doing the same, against the warnings of Ralsei and the will of their own soul? Or even Susie, whose only close friends lie largely in these Dark Worlds?

yeahhhh i can see this playing over the flashback of the messed up future in explorers of time. both games have that “darkness consumes the future” vibe
I'm pretty sure at the very least Ralsei is probably familiar or at least had an encounter with the Knight, as every other ruler seems to have had. He's probably playing the long game for something, or at least there's a reason he has a vast amount of info that only a select few come close to having the same knowledge (i.e. those who have encountered the Knight.) I don't think he's necessarily gonna go into Flowey levels of evil per say, but he definitely has an agenda of his own, and while I think he genuinely cares for his friends, he may have a "duty first" or "I'm doing this for all of you" mindset later down that line. At least, that would be interesting to see. Or alternatively his theoretical encounter with the knight has warped him in a "my insanity is hidden at the moment, I've just been told/figured out how to play the long game with the information I've gotten." Or it could possibly be all of these possibilities into one.
Funny how the "Don't forget" motif is used here, considering this is literally talking about "when the light is running low, and the shadows start to grow".
So... why didn't he mention this sooner? The answer is that he had already implied that leaving just TWO fountains unchecked would have dire consequences. That should have been enough had Susie not forgotten about it, or had Kris not come down with a case of Silent Protagonist Syndrome.
Ralsei is incredibly secretive, and can be quite the pushover. I don't find it hard to believe that his natural quietness and gentleness prevented him from speaking out last-minute.
"Ralsie's hid this from us" Did he though? Pretty sure in chapter 1 he said the more fountains their are the more the world will fall out of balance. This is not new infomation?

Well, if the theory that the roaring already once happened and it's why there's that empty part full of stone pillars on the school closet's dark world, and also it's why Ralsei is all alone in this dark world, it could explain why Ralsei acts sus in chapter 2, he's just nervous af because now that new lightners and dark worlds are appearing, he may be fearing that, either some lightners, misleaded by the knight, create a dark fountain and bring the roaring, or maybe, in a act of carelessness, even Kris or Susie do it, he just don't want it to happen again. Also, being made of pure darkness, he does can travel across dark worlds, since, if a fountain made of pure darkness (castle town's fountain) can permit the existence of different worlds' darkners in it's influence, why shouldn't other fountains' will permit the existence of a pure darkness darker?
Ralsei thought Queen (and by extension, most likely King too) was aware of the Roaring and wanted to destroy the world. This cute goat boy who believes violence isn't necessary genuinely thought his enemies were omnicidal maniacs for no reason other than "if I know, why shouldn't you too?"
Maybe he didn’t say anything until then because telling a bunch of highschoolers “Hey, if you mess this up, the entire world is fucked” is a TERRIBLE idea?
As someone who watched and read Attack on Titan, the mentioning of roaring associated me with The Rumbling...then Ralsei mentioned titans that will destroy everything in their path...
People who keep saying this would’ve been useful to know is starting to annoy me, because not only has he already told us at the beginning of the entire game, but knowing this wouldnt have helped in any way or changed anything. Plus, Queen kinda should’ve known this already.
You know what I just realized? We're probably going to learn we have to seal ALL of the fountains eventually, including Ralsei's fountain. That's gonna be sad...
@@wesleydamaschino8047 well his words are the only one we can refer to at the moment, though considering ralsei and the darkners are items would it really be such a bad thing for them to return to being items?
This is 100% my "Deltarune Theorizing" track. I just keep thinking about what could possibly happen later on. There are so many facets to think about from the main plotline to Kris acting on their own to Ralsei being a bit sus to everything with Jevil and Spamton. Can't wait to see Chapter 3!
ok, so after the roaring i hope the game takes a darker, more sorrowful turn. after the roaring, ralsie is no longer there to guide us. the world is covered by darkness, and by extension, the universe. this leads to a infinite sized dark world. one that is full of familiar spaces, that make the ones within them deeply emotoinal. longing for their childhood, when things were more simple. the world represents a existential crisis. but not just of mortality, of existence itself. rudy dies and fused with the dark world becomes a amalgamate, leaving noelle traumatized. susie is in deep crisis. kris however...finds comfort in the darkness. in the liminal spaces, places where he can find himself. acceptance. free from the strings. whats beyond existence? is death the end? no need to worry about that now, my friend. your safe here. why not find a place that touches you before pondering these things? trapped in endless cooridors of liminal spaces we find acceptance. is this the end? well, there's only one way to find out. ... you must ask *him.*

The Titans will take form from the Shadows of Hatred and envolup the world in devastation. The surviving Folded Soldiers, created and protected by origami, will slowly, one by one, turn into statues, leaving the Elemental Heroes to fend for themselves, lost enterally in an endless night... *Is that your idea of world domination?*
This is one of the only themes that’s ever given me the same chill down my spine that the time gear theme from Pokémon mystery dungeon did...and that’s SAYING something
So I guess players never know every information about fountains. They are probably complex. However, Ralsei will explain the fountains' info in every chapter, make sure to watch carefully.
Honestly, I think the only truly suspicious thing about Ralsei is that he's the only source of the information he's been telling us; information that conveniently lets him play the part of a hero and "prince of the dark". Tells people to do their homework when he can't even cite his sources properly smh
Although there are hints that he is telling the truth. -Those eye symbols on the titan in the middle can be found in chapter 1 in the dark world. -Jevil mentions the roaring (I heard but I have not done this boss fight myself) -If Ralsei is lying then the name of this track is lying aswell. It is called the Dark Truth after all.
You gotta wonder, why didn't ralsei say anything about the roaring earlier? Did he not want to mention it until the time was right? Did he not mention it because he wasn't asked? *or does he have another reason?*
Man, if at some point we see some plot twist with Ralsei pretending to be a chill dude but turns out he's actually insane like Jevil o Spamton it would be so shocking. Maybe Ralsei witnessed the roaring in the past and now doesn't want it to happen. Can't wait for the rest chapters to come out.
I believe the roaring is like something which would make Kris eternally dark inside, just a souless being.. maybe they had a soul before but it was destroyed.
Anyone realize that kris made the third dark fountain and while ralsei was explaining we saw Titans appear when a third dark fountain was opened so that means in chapter 3 the moment we get out kris will realize he summoned The titan
I have a feeling that in one of the final chapters of Deltarune, that the world and everything will become a wasteland as the Roaring is happening, as you, Ralsei, and Susie, are going through the wastelands to stop the enraged gods.
One thing people never pointed out is when we seal the fountains, Kris seems to gain or lose more control over their own body. Allow me to explain. In the first chapter, Kris is able to remove the soul from their body once. Even then, they’re able to move across town, make a fountain in the library, return home, and eat the pie that Toriel made as an alibi. In the second chapter, Kris is able to remove us twice after sealing the second fountain, now being able to crawl out the window, slash the tires of Toriel’s car, crawl back in the house, and wash their hands all without our control. They once again rip out their soul later that night to create a fountain, allowing the dark to most likely bleed out into the town. So here are the big questions. If Kris is gaining power from sealing the fountains, does this mean they will be able persist without us entirely? Or alternatively, if they’re losing power over their body from sealing the fountains and it’s not Kris ripping out their soul, then who is? And more importantly, *how do they know about us?*
Kris has also never pulled the soul out in a dark world. Not even when you make their childhood friend murder their classmate. Makes me think they can't do it when in a dark world.
This music always gives me the feeling Deltarune isn’t gonna have a Happy ending, i can’t quite describe it but… i just feel like a lot of bad things are gonna happen that’ll leave us heartbroken… guess we’ll just have to wait and see who’ll still be with us in The Dark when the dust settles
What if we do not "seal" the fountains but absorb the life of unborn titans? Ralsei kept all of this this from us to the last moment and also said three heroes needed to close the fountains and yet we can do it *alone* in Snowgrave route. Hell, we don't even need Kris for this - A Soul does all the job. Traitor/Villain/Whatever Ralsei is or not, He's definitely playing his own game.
I just wanna say something is DEFINITELY up with Ralsei. For starters, why the hell does he look like Asriel??? For another thing, why does he have so much knowledge about the dark fountains? How come he knows about the classroom in the school? How does he even know the dark world they were in is in a school? And if he's a darkner, HOW THE FUCK DOES HE TRAVERSE THROUGH DARK WORLDS WITHOUT TURNING TO STONE!?!?? Also this music feels really fitting to listen to while reading everyone else's comments, I really like seeing all the theories
1: he doesnt turn to stone since he was born out of PURE DARKNESS 2: Ralsei its also an anagram of asriel 3: King also knew about the closet, so they probably are sentient even when being inanimate or not
We dont know how Deltarune Asriel looks like and Ralsei does not look like Undertale Asriel. They are Goats and they have white fure but thats about it Asriel has no pink horns ore Glasses. They look about as much as each other then 2 children of the same species and the same skin collor.
I have nothing to back up this theory, but what if Ralsei is one of the titans and with the 3 fountains open he transforms and loses his mind? Maybe that's why he's so paranoid about it...
people always wonder why ralsei doesn't get turned to stone in the cyber world. it's the same reason no one turns to stone in castle town. he mentioned at some point that his fountain, and by extension, he is made of pure darkness.
This makes me have flashbacks of my old friends and how there gone and I will probably never be able to see there faces again, all the good times we had, all the fun things we did together. All the good memories we had……. Together.
One thing I don't understand is that the legend portrayed at the start of the chapter seems to imply that the Earth's destruction is a prerequisite to the Heroes' appearance, but the game seems to make it so that the Heroes are nipping the fountains one by one, before they get a chance to come up all at once.
This just reminds me of the Greek creation myth. The void at the beginning and the subsequent rise of the earth mother and sky father. The birth of monsters, the rise of Chronos as he kills his father. What I mean is, the song feels very “before history, we were here.”
I thought of this recently when I thought of this scene/music, Ralsei is not technically the prince of his dark world. one of the questions I had was, why he kept the kings of his world in the cage? I don't see anyone thinking/talking about this. also, he knows about the towns area and the route to the library. How's he is the prince, the parents? This scene, it's creepy. I get that it didn't came up because they didn't ask or what ever. but, still. How does he know? Toby Fox is a good story. He made 7 chapters and I bet he lay'd out the whole story. that's why it took so long. I don't think that Ralsai is Asreil. This is a great series so far, can't wait for the next 2-3 chapters.
Castle town and the Lancer’s world are differents, Ralsei’s world is made of pure darkness, he is a pure darkner, he can visit all dark fountains, the Lancer’s world is created by the knight, Seam mentions that the 3 former kings that you can see in card castle, were jailed by the knight, also Ralsei mentions that he has always been alone, until Kris and Susie arrived (Sorry for my bad English, i am learning
I just noticed, what's stopping the knight from going yolo and making multiple fountains in the same day? There's also a chance of Kris and the Knight making two at the same day on accident. Ralsei, aren't you gonna be concerned about that?
Ralsei, honey, I love you. I would kill God for you, and I probably will when this is all said and done, but...how do you know these things? It seems like Seam, Jevil, and maybe the Knight are the only ones who actually understand the prophecy. One is directly involved in doing it, and the others were exposed to a walking necronomicon-one directly and one by proxy. Not even Spamton knows about the prophecy, and his metaknowledge is vast. So why do you?
If you choose not to hear the prophecy at the beginning of Chapter 1, Lancer explains it for you, which implies that other Darkners are aware of the prophecy
I honesty forgot why we were trying to save queen. For most of the story, she is just shown wanting the best for everybody. Her mini dialouges in her 2 final fights really convinced me that she just wants to do good, and made me question why we were trying to stop her. Then this hit
Ok perhaps the roaring 20s shouldn’t return
holy shit, it all makes sense now
Now what if Asriel came home in a future chapter because corona?
They weren't all that anyway.

@Stultus why is you’re profile pic just number one from TBoI
Okay, so... a few things when it comes to this reveal.
It's like he expected to Susie, Kris, and the other Lightners to either already know this or to just seal each new Dark Fountain that arises and not really question why they have to, which brings me to my next point:
3) Ralsei's expectations and what he assumes people will do or what they are doing are all over the place.
After all, this is the only time where we as the player are not witnesses of what the two are doing.
him not turning to stone can be explained as when he says the castle town fountane is made of PURE DARKNESS so anyone can live in it so since hes made from pure darkness be able to live in all fountains keeping it equal
we don't know , but i feel like he was more scary and not angry on that part , he was like terrified on the idea to make a new fountain.
Don't worry guys, he's explaining FNAF lore.
Honestly one of the funniest parts of this chapter is when everyone freaks out about this revelation, including queen.

I'm pretty sure that Ralsei was the sole survivor of a previous Roaring, hence why the scene is in sepia like a flashback: It has happened before. And, Castle Town was the Light World before the Roaring, and is built on dead, or even worse, dormant, Titans.
That sounds terrifying, but i do think it's interesting to note that these cutscenes are presented similarly to a flashback

"KRIS I SWEAR TO GOD I KNOW YOU DON'T TALK BUT COULD YOU AT LEAST LISTEN"

If the story about the roaring is true, and I think it is , I would not blame Ralsei fore turning against Kris if he founds out that he createt a Dark Fountain.
How did i never thought about it!!?!?! Ralsei wants balance and kris just creates a fountain? I am curious about how he will react...or if it was already planned when Ralsei talked to Kris during Susie and Noelle cutscene

Ralsei: YOU WHAT?!...but...I thought we were friends, Kris...

I agree. this song kinda sounds like it could be played at the end of the world.
"I'm with you in the dark" takes a completely different meaning now...
@gameexstreme RB the roaring would leave lightners in an eternal night, a darkness

I'm sure the legend accounts for all events thus far, since banishing the "angels heaven" hasn't been an event yet.

He just kind of assumes people know what he knows, he's naive like that. In fact, in this very scene it's revealed that Queen DIDN'T know about the Roaring, something Ralsei is clearly surprised by.

It may also be a case that he is trying to help us, but doesn't feel like we'd accept the truth if he outright told us.

All I've heard so far on every video regarding this track/scene is that Ralsei is hiding something and "why didn't he tell us this?" And "That's information we could've used"

@@kurimc.mystic5341 Charas confirmed to exist in DR?

But something I'm trying to figure out:
The Knight is actually _trying_ to bring about The Roaring, and bring about the apocalypse.

Whoever The Knight is, and whatever their motivation, they need to be stopped.
@@thegameknight8916 The KNIGHT is probably a Gaster fragment. Good Luck trying to stop HIM

If i had to Guess, he's trying to bring THE ROARING (or maybe the ANGEL'S HEAVEN from chapter 1) to make people feel what he felt when he was shattered across Time and Space.
When the Roaring happens:
But... the future refused to change
@@tailpig6417 Roaring for Deltarune climax!
What I’m excited about is that it has the Don’t Forget leitmotif in it, which i personally believe is about the roaring as well.
not to mention “The Dark Truth” and a lyric in Don’t Forget being “Shining in the cold with the Truth…” and to wrap it all up, “I’m with you in the dark.”
Honestly it leading up to when the roaring happens (why else would it be in the story) it wouldn’t surprise me if you have to remember the good memories of your friends like in the Asriel Dreemur fight to battle a titan or titans.
Ralsei you can't get mad, they literally didn't know, you're the only one that knew and kept it to yourself... >->
I think to him, it's a prophecy that everyone should know... or that they should've at least been informed about by other darkners. That's why he just said "the Roaring" at first and then when he realised the lightness didn't know, he explained.
I mean sure he used some flowery (haha pun) language to describe it but he DID essentially say the world would be destroyed in Chapter 1
Yeah but they never asked ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Don't forget that both Susie AND Kris know the gist of this, though not to this type of detail. Susie obviously wasn't listening to him the first time, so his anger is justified
it didn’t matter until that point
This sounds more like a game over theme than the actual game over themes.
I don't think it is, I think more that "something is gonna happen and the world in a Chaos and kills every lifeform"
And "it's the least time this world in peace make the most of it if you will"
and in peace and creeps everytime I hears it, But this for me at last.
I commented something similar and just saw this, what a coincidence
When the LIGHT is subsumed by SHADOW...
When the FOUNTAINS fill the sky...
All will fall into _CHAOS._
The TITANS will take form from the FOUNTAINS...
And envelop the land in *devastation.*
The surviving Darkners, crushed by the darkness...
_Will slowly, one by one, turn into statues..._
*Leaving the Lightners to fend for themselves.*
_Lost eternally in an endless night..._
*Is that your idea of paradise?*
Queen: Oh d*** i did not know that
I'm going to predict right here right now that the Roaring eventually happens as part of the story and you end up aimlessly wandering around a black screen desperately trying to find some way to progress, then Don't Forget starts playing and Kris' soul actually starts to glow in conjunction with the line about the "light inside your soul", slowly revealing one of your friends (most likely Ralsei or Noelle) standing next to you singing it, with them being fully revealed right as they get to "Don't forget: I'm with you in the dark"
My theory is the roaring is how the games gonna end right at the end of chapter 7.

!! Really??? In which part does this show up ?? Chapter 1??
I think you're missing the point of the fountains. All darkners are given form by the fountain and embody the fountain's 'will'. As are the dark worlds. As is Ralsei
The titans are created if _too much_ darkness is created by there being too many fountains.

@Wafflest WaffleFlowey betrays you early, but it's still a betrayal. He greets you and teaches you the tutorial for bullet hell mechanics, remember? Only after he does that does he try to kill you.
@Wafflest Waffle I generally have dementia when it comes to remembering names. But hey, it's a small world. I know I did get into a thread about subs and dubs once...it's cool that you may recognize me from there!
This music is so much more tense then "The Legend". The later chapters are going to be much darker than we expect huh?
Did anyone else get mad Pokemon Mystery Dungeon vibes from this track?
LITERALLY TRUE
Not even remotely. I guess it kinda fits some of the late-game PSMD dungeons' themes? But that wasn't something I thought about without the idea being put into my head by someone else
I can actually see where you're coming from, the choir at 0:34 sounds veeery similar
yeahhhh i can see this playing over the flashback of the messed up future in explorers of time. both games have that “darkness consumes the future” vibe
Or alternatively his theoretical encounter with the knight has warped him in a "my insanity is hidden at the moment, I've just been told/figured out how to play the long game with the information I've gotten."
Or it could possibly be all of these possibilities into one.
This makes me wonder if Ralsei is Ch.7's Jevil/Spamton-type boss
Funny how the "Don't forget" motif is used here, considering this is literally talking about "when the light is running low, and the shadows start to grow".
So... why didn't he mention this sooner? The answer is that he had already implied that leaving just TWO fountains unchecked would have dire consequences. That should have been enough had Susie not forgotten about it, or had Kris not come down with a case of Silent Protagonist Syndrome.
@Nobody Omg you're amazing
@Nobody
"Ralsei why didn't you tell us about this sooner!?"
"Because I wrote it in the manual! How was I supposed to know you wouldn't read it?"
Ralsei is incredibly secretive, and can be quite the pushover. I don't find it hard to believe that his natural quietness and gentleness prevented him from speaking out last-minute.
kris has Gordon Freeman VA,he isn't silent
If ralsei was a sole survivor of the roaring I’d that why we don’t see his parents
"Ralsie's hid this from us"
Did he though?
Pretty sure in chapter 1 he said the more fountains their are the more the world will fall out of balance.
This is not new infomation?
Well, he didn't mention how the Roaring plays into the Dark Apocalypse. And there certainly weren't any Titans in the prophecy.
@@benjamincurran5799 errmm it didnt take too much info to know that too much dark fountains are a bad idea, he didnt need to specify the roaring at all and if your saying why didnt kris or susie stop berdly when they know, well kris cant talk without our prompt most of the time and susie wasnt paying attention
Porque la fuente de oscuridad de ralsei es pura y es la que debería estar para que haya un equilibrio entre la luz y la oscuridad.
Out of all tracks in this game so far, to me this is the absolute most powerful one.
As someone who watched and read Attack on Titan, the mentioning of roaring associated me with The Rumbling...then Ralsei mentioned titans that will destroy everything in their path...

ok, so after the roaring i hope the game takes a darker, more sorrowful turn. after the roaring, ralsie is no longer there to guide us. the world is covered by darkness, and by extension, the universe. this leads to a infinite sized dark world. one that is full of familiar spaces, that make the ones within them deeply emotoinal. longing for their childhood, when things were more simple. the world represents a existential crisis. but not just of mortality, of existence itself. rudy dies and fused with the dark world becomes a amalgamate, leaving noelle traumatized. susie is in deep crisis. kris however...finds comfort in the darkness. in the liminal spaces, places where he can find himself. acceptance. free from the strings. whats beyond existence? is death the end? no need to worry about that now, my friend. your safe here. why not find a place that touches you before pondering these things? trapped in endless cooridors of liminal spaces we find acceptance. is this the end? well, there's only one way to find out.

So I guess players never know every information about fountains. They are probably complex. However, Ralsei will explain the fountains' info in every chapter, make sure to watch carefully.
I don't know what to think about this song, either comforting in a dark way or being afraid of losing everything and everyone being unable to act
-Jevil mentions the roaring (I heard but I have not done this boss fight myself)
-If Ralsei is lying then the name of this track is lying aswell. It is called the Dark Truth after all.

@@alejandrarey1316 the computer lab's fountain was sealed.
There's still just two.
*why does everyone think kris is the knight, it seems like a pretty obvious red herring*
noelle and burghley were already in the room when the fountain was made
Kris has also never pulled the soul out in a dark world.
The use of “Your Best Nightmare” motif here is very, very interesting
where was that
@@siro7516 the beginning of both songs sound very similar, both giving the player a sense of doom
“Didn’t we, uhh… already know all this?”
“Shut up, Kris! We need an excuse to show Ralsei being dark and serious!”
1: he doesnt turn to stone since he was born out of PURE DARKNESS
2: Ralsei its also an anagram of asriel
3: King also knew about the closet, so they probably are sentient even when being inanimate or not
Well yeah, obviously Ralsei is an anagram of Asriel, but *why?*
Ralsei knows more than you think...
This makes me have flashbacks of my old friends and how there gone and I will probably never be able to see there faces again, all the good times we had, all the fun things we did together. All the good memories we had…….
Together.
don't forget.
One thing I don't understand is that the legend portrayed at the start of the chapter seems to imply that the Earth's destruction is a prerequisite to the Heroes' appearance, but the game seems to make it so that the Heroes are nipping the fountains one by one, before they get a chance to come up all at once.
I don't know why but this music makes me feel very relaxed almost in a zen state
This just reminds me of the Greek creation myth. The void at the beginning and the subsequent rise of the earth mother and sky father. The birth of monsters, the rise of Chronos as he kills his father.
What I mean is, the song feels very “before history, we were here.”
This'll go nicely into my songs that make you feel like the planet already exploded game over playlist
I thought of this recently when I thought of this scene/music,
Ralsei is not technically the prince of his dark world.
one of the questions I had was, why he kept the kings of his world in the cage?

Imagine if they made the roaring a "Bad Ending" in the full game.
I don't think Ralsei is evil: just socially awkward and naive. However, I think the real threat is not his deception, but his secretive nature.
Imagine if this music plays during the roaring, chills.
Ralsei, honey, I love you. I would kill God for you, and I probably will when this is all said and done,
but...how do you know these things?
