I have a couple pairs of 3" heels which are so comfortable I swear I could run a marathon in them. Often a bit of a heel is better than absolutely flat if you are on your feet all day- to me, completely flat destroys the calves. My Ariat paddock boots are probably the winners as far as comfort but sadly can only wear with jeans.
Me too, flat shoes make my lower back ache. My doctor told me that wearing 1-2”heels would lessen the curve in my lower back and I tried it and it works.
I can’t wait wear very high heels any more but also can’t wear very flat shoes like ballerinas with no support as they cause plantar fasciitis - v painful. A mid heel, wedges, supportive trainers and Birkenstock’s are my go to now! Flip flops only for garden and hot tub but def not for walking!
I was going to say the exact same thing! I too cannot wear a completely flat shoe/sandal. I always wear at least a one or two inch heel. 2” never higher. I hate flip flops. Here in Chicago suburbs teens begin wearing them April/March sometimes we’ll still have snow on the ground. I don’t get it. My comfort shoes: Clarks, Born, Dansko. 😬🙋♀️
I agree. After 50, the arches start to fall and flat shoes are killers. I couldn’t wear any of those sandals recommended, for more than an hour. Just a little of a heel makes the difference or some kind of arch support.
Do you have orthopedic soles? I had plantar fascitis for one complete year. It's super painful and I had a lot of physiotherapy. I wish that you get some relief. 🌷
In summer I wear espadrilles. Here in Argentina it is cheap footwear and there are a lot of options. They come back into fashion in some seasons. For me they are classics and I love they give me a polo look. In sneakers I feel badly dressed, I have some, but they last decades from the little that I use them. Greetings from Buenos Aires!!!
I can't do flat heels, - I have high arches! - I would enjoy seeing more low heeled comfy shoes please :-) by the way, flip flops are one of the more dangerous things we can wear, no support and make the wearer prone to falls! *my best friend broke her wrist after a fall wearing flip flops - her doctor at the ER told her noone should wear flip flops because he'd dealt with so many injuries from wearers! just passing that info along (I never found them comfy so don't possess a pair)

Hey Frederique! Loved this shoe video! Since I’m tall, I don’t wear heels. However, I do have a couple pairs of low heels (3”) if I need them! I like flats whether they be sandals, mules or loafers. Boots/booties might be 1 1/2” to work with longer length jeans. Whatever the shoe, I want them to flatter my foot (which is narrow), to be comfortable and to last a long time! There is nothing better than a comfortable shoe. If you are tall then you don't really need high heels to look nice. I'm tall also and the majority of my shoes are flats.
I have tried and tried, but just can’t get used to the toe-thong of flip-flops and similar sandals, they just slice open the skin between my toes. Even the leather ones. I have one pair that I wear for pedicures, then I just hobble slowly to the adjacent parking garage in them.
I’m Australian and I think everyone wears them here, Havianas, Billabong or other surf brands make ones that are comfortable between the toes. Ones that are too plastic or stiff can rub and be painful. Need a high rubber content in them to wear all day 😊.

I only have ballerina shoes, or loafers in my wardrobe these days. I do have 2 pairs of sandals with a small wedge heels, which I tend to wear with dresses. And of course a pair of black Chelsea boots for winter.
I live in Ireland where we have lots of changeable weather, lots of puddles and mud! I don't have much use for sandals and flip flops, but I did just buy a stylish pair of Ugg wellies which I love!

That's a very burning topic for -- I'm afraid -- many of us. With age, you get weight and some other health issues which immediately reflect on your feet. And one day you realize you need to get rid of all of your heels and switch to something ugly. You reassured me that it does not need to be ugly :) Thanks tons, Frédérique!

Love your take on conformable shoes as high heels is a no-no to me. I came to realize that with flat shoes (eg ballet flats) you can wear soft inner soles that gives good support if one has problem feet.
First, I loooooove Oscar 💕💕💕💕 second, no Flipflops for me. Instead I wear Birkenstock Gizeh. And yes, even on the beach and in saltwater. They are impossible to break and last a very long time, say for decades. You can always repair them. And the best thing is, the support your feet very well. Of course I speak of the original ones, which aren’t sold on Amazon.

The booties are mostly spring and autumn season in Quebec Canada, we get a lot of snowfall and need a more sturdy and warm boots to tackle the winter season 😊🙏🌷 ugg, sorel, the north face, and a side of ice tractions for those pesky ice storms if the boots don't have ice grips, I try to buy boots that have the vibram sole integrated into the boot sole for non slip walking

An Aussi here Frederique. For many years I have suffered from sore feet and painful bunions caused by wearing high heels for years and years. I have finally found a few companies here in Oz that make really stylish, comfortable shoes in leather, orthopaedic designed and at reasonable prices. I really recommend Frankie4 and Bared. I bought a pair of black leather sneakers from Frankie4 and wore them almost continuously for seven weeks in Europe a few years ago and never had sore feet. I hope this of help for some of your “loverlies” on here.
Like someone else mentioned I can not do completely flat shoes these days as I have fallen arches on my feet. I used to love ballerinas but they are now too flat. I love Fit Flop and want to try their ballerinas which have hidden support! Also love sketchers and Gabor amongst others. It’s great that there are so many supportive, comfortable and yet still stylish shoes/sandals these days! Another great video thank you!
Bonjour my lovely Frederique. Your comfy shoes are cute, but I need more support for my arches. I love flip flops, and they are popular where I live. I prefer the Clarks Breeze Sea flip flops. They have a thicker sole than the flip flops you have, so the wearer doesn't feel every stone under their feet. They are very comfortable, they come is many colours and are adjustable, which is handy if one's feet swell in the heat. I think you would like them. (By the way, I don't work for Clarks Shoes...haha) I enjoy all of your videos, and look forward to the next ones. If I may make a suggestion: when you talk about Australia, Europe and the States, I think it would be better to say North America (rather than the States) because then you include your followers in Canada, too!
Thank you for doing a “non-heels” video about shoes! I can no longer wear stilettos and high heels, but I don’t feel comfortable wearing shoes with thin flat soles either, I do have some but don’t wear them if I know I will be doing a lot of walking. My favorites in the summer are espadrilles, wedge espadrilles and low wedge sandals. I have a beautiful pair of white leather block-heel sandals, the heel is low, about 1.5-2 inches, and they are really comfortable for looking chic when a certain amount of walking is necessary. In the winter, my Chelsea boots and low heeled boots are the best. I have some brown Massimo Dutti loafers which I bought just before COVID and haven’t worn yet - I’m hoping to use them this winter when I am out and about more!

Being 5'11 tall, I'm don't wear heels at all:) My staple shoes is black lace-up boots (combat boots), because here in Siberia is very cold most time of the year. They go with everything!
@@ms.frederique To be honest, in winter (on really cold days -35°C) we are not thinking about fashion at all :) Puffer jackets and down coats are very popular, as well as real fur coats (sad but true). Ofcourse knit hats, scarves and gloves. For boots - everything with fur lining, puffer boots, ugg boots. Couple years ago I had Tory Burch shearling keds and I wore them out to death:)

Because of a back injury, I can't wear high heels (which I miss very much!) anymore. Can't wear ballet flats either because I have to have some heel. I found a wonderful pair of black patent leather Franco Sarto loafers and a pair of Keds white leather sneakers. But I am still on the hunt for a pair of kitten heels. So far no luck finding a pair.
I love seeing Oscar! He looks like a large French Bull. They have become a very popular breed here in the States. Lady Gaga had 2 stolen from her dog walker. They even shot the dog walker. She offered a $500,000 reward. They were found and returned. The dog walker is still recovering from his wounds.

Have you tried the brand FitFlop for ballerina pumps. I got a leather pair from them that look like Chanel with the cream & black toe. The most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had. I have a few pairs of their leather sandals too. Extremely comfortable. I highly recommend that brand. And no I do not work for them haha
Salut Frédérique and thank you for this video. Finding shoes is a challenge for me , as I need childrens' sizes and they are often poorly made as it assumed that they will be outgrown quickly.
I love extra height from shoes, but I could never tolerate heels higher than about 2.5 inches, nor narrow pointed toes. I look for almond-shaped-toe ones, round toes make my small feet look even more undersized. I’m always looking for stylish, comfortable footwear in real leather and without polyester linings. I have a much lower success rate when buying shoes than with other items. Even with my most careful shopping, try-ons and break-ins, I only end up wearing maybe 1 in 3 or 4 pairs of shoes and boots that I buy.
I don’t like flat shoes as too thin a sole but I could have done with my trainers yesterday (instead of my two inch pointed toed heeled boots) whilst walking around the Zoo with my grandchildren.
Thanks Frederique, this is me! I have only worn heels on the day I got married. I held onto my father walking down the aisle and my husband on the way back up the aisle. I just cannot walk in them! I have often looked a heels, but my husband says they are not "me". Which is true, I can`t wear heels to work ( I work in a Doctors Surgery) and when at home, I am running around after our three sons! I have four pairs of ballerinas, three pairs of Adidas trainers and five pairs of boots - that is just for autumn and winter!
Montreal Quebec Canada we love chuck's, Van's, and slip ons, and the fila thick sole.. Adidas has its place, but I mostly see the brands above on city commuters.

I couldn't agree more, and I am French. Flip flops will NEVER be chic in the streets, it just looks "lazy" to wear them, not to mention the annoying noises they often make and the cheap plastic look even when they're expensive. The same goes with the slides/slippers type (especially in bold colours), I know they are trendy but they just look like... home slippers :D .There are so many other options as you said that are more stylish, comfortable, and flattering to the leg and figure.

Yikes I have terrible bunions. When I find a comfortable show I buy several, even if they don't look very attractive. Sad. I can't wear ballet flats or loafers anymore or flip flops. Teva's are almost the only sandals I can wear. Cute doggy!

So, I am 65 years old. I am very active. About 15 years ago I quit wearing high heels. I find that my favorite loafers are made by Bally of Switzerland. Hands down a great value for the money. They are comfortable, stylish, and a good investment. So invest in yourself. You will feel very dignified, very mature in a good way.

Yes I have very high arches so even thogh I'm not used to wearing high heels anymore, flat shoes are equally very uncomfortable for me.

you have to get good ones, that are made by surfer like brands, havaianas are the most comfy in my opinion but there are plenty of others.
i had the same Problem then i used a CLEAR PLASTER THE ONES THAT ARE PADDED as you cant se it as much as a nude skin colour one try it it works .

I came to realize that with flat shoes (eg ballet flats) you can wear soft inner soles that gives good support if one has problem feet.

First, I loooooove Oscar 💕💕💕💕 second, no Flipflops for me. Instead I wear Birkenstock Gizeh. And yes, even on the beach and in saltwater. They are impossible to break and last a very long time, say for decades. You can always repair them. And the best thing is, the support your feet very well. Of course I speak of the original ones, which aren’t sold on Amazon.

The booties are mostly spring and autumn season in Quebec Canada, we get a lot of snowfall and need a more sturdy and warm boots to tackle the winter season 😊🙏🌷 ugg, sorel, the north face, and a side of ice tractions for those pesky ice storms if the boots don't have ice grips, I try to buy boots that have the vibram sole integrated into the boot sole for non slip walking

An Aussi here Frederique. For many years I have suffered from sore feet and painful bunions caused by wearing high heels for years and years. I have finally found a few companies here in Oz that make really stylish, comfortable shoes in leather, orthopaedic designed and at reasonable prices. I really recommend Frankie4 and Bared. I bought a pair of black leather sneakers from Frankie4 and wore them almost continuously for seven weeks in Europe a few years ago and never had sore feet. I hope this of help for some of your “loverlies” on here.

Like someone else mentioned I can not do completely flat shoes these days as I have fallen arches on my feet. I used to love ballerinas but they are now too flat. I love Fit Flop and want to try their ballerinas which have hidden support! Also love sketchers and Gabor amongst others. It’s great that there are so many supportive, comfortable and yet still stylish shoes/sandals these days! Another great video thank you!

Bonjour my lovely Frederique. Your comfy shoes are cute, but I need more support for my arches. I love flip flops, and they are popular where I live. I prefer the Clarks Breeze Sea flip flops. They have a thicker sole than the flip flops you have, so the wearer doesn't feel every stone under their feet. They are very comfortable, they come is many colours and are adjustable, which is handy if one's feet swell in the heat. I think you would like them. (By the way, I don't work for Clarks Shoes...haha) I enjoy all of your videos, and look forward to the next ones. If I may make a suggestion: when you talk about Australia, Europe and the States, I think it would be better to say North America (rather than the States) because then you include your followers in Canada, too!

Thank you for doing a “non-heels” video about shoes! I can no longer wear stilettos and high heels, but I don’t feel comfortable wearing shoes with thin flat soles either, I do have some but don’t wear them if I know I will be doing a lot of walking. My favorites in the summer are espadrilles, wedge espadrilles and low wedge sandals. I have a beautiful pair of white leather block-heel sandals, the heel is low, about 1.5-2 inches, and they are really comfortable for looking chic when a certain amount of walking is necessary. In the winter, my Chelsea boots and low heeled boots are the best. I have some brown Massimo Dutti loafers which I bought just before COVID and haven’t worn yet - I’m hoping to use them this winter when I am out and about more!

@@ms.frederique To be honest, in winter (on really cold days -35°C) we are not thinking about fashion at all :) Puffer jackets and down coats are very popular, as well as real fur coats (sad but true). Ofcourse knit hats, scarves and gloves. For boots - everything with fur lining, puffer boots, ugg boots. Couple years ago I had Tory Burch shearling keds and I wore them out to death:)

Frédérique I love the les tropeziennes black hanano sandals! Can you tell me if they are a narrow fit? I usually wear a 6.5 wide US but sometimes in sandals I can get away without wide. I have bunions so width is very important for me! Thank you!
Because of a back injury, I can't wear high heels (which I miss very much!) anymore. Can't wear ballet flats either because I have to have some heel. I found a wonderful pair of black patent leather Franco Sarto loafers and a pair of Keds white leather sneakers. But I am still on the hunt for a pair of kitten heels. So far no luck finding a pair.
Even my comfy shoes/sandals still quite glamorous, unless I’m in my fluffy slippers 😆

I love seeing Oscar! He looks like a large French Bull. They have become a very popular breed here in the States. Lady Gaga had 2 stolen from her dog walker. They even shot the dog walker. She offered a $500,000 reward. They were found and returned. The dog walker is still recovering from his wounds.

Have you tried the brand FitFlop for ballerina pumps. I got a leather pair from them that look like Chanel with the cream & black toe. The most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had. I have a few pairs of their leather sandals too. Extremely comfortable. I highly recommend that brand. And no I do not work for them haha

I love my Ryka sneakers, and Timberland boots. Live in them. I have high arches and have inserts in all my shoes.
I love extra height from shoes, but I could never tolerate heels higher than about 2.5 inches, nor narrow pointed toes. I look for almond-shaped-toe ones, round toes make my small feet look even more undersized. I’m always looking for stylish, comfortable footwear in real leather and without polyester linings. I have a much lower success rate when buying shoes than with other items. Even with my most careful shopping, try-ons and break-ins, I only end up wearing maybe 1 in 3 or 4 pairs of shoes and boots that I buy.

Thanks Frederique, this is me! I have only worn heels on the day I got married. I held onto my father walking down the aisle and my husband on the way back up the aisle. I just cannot walk in them! I have often looked a heels, but my husband says they are not "me". Which is true, I can`t wear heels to work ( I work in a Doctors Surgery) and when at home, I am running around after our three sons! I have four pairs of ballerinas, three pairs of Adidas trainers and five pairs of boots - that is just for autumn and winter!

Dear Frederique, elegant style says that you only wear flip flops by the pool or at the beach... considering we have so many options in flat shoes, I think if you follow this rule you can elevate your elegance 😊
I couldn't agree more, and I am French. Flip flops will NEVER be chic in the streets, it just looks "lazy" to wear them, not to mention the annoying noises they often make and the cheap plastic look even when they're expensive. The same goes with the slides/slippers type (especially in bold colours), I know they are trendy but they just look like... home slippers :D .There are so many other options as you said that are more stylish, comfortable, and flattering to the leg and figure.
@@brifren2 I agree with you! I am Australian- Italian... and for me they are just too casual, made of rubber and don’t elevate your look. Save them for beach or pool only!

So, I am 65 years old. I am very active. About 15 years ago I quit wearing high heels. I find that my favorite loafers are made by Bally of Switzerland. Hands down a great value for the money. They are comfortable, stylish, and a good investment. So invest in yourself. You will feel very dignified, very mature in a good way.
