How to install reverse camera to Opel Astra J Sports Tourer.
Quite easy job, but I recommend to get a good quality camera, not the cheapest, like I have. This camera came with the media player, but I'm going to upgrade it to a better one, video quality is just not good enough. Luckily I can use same cables also with the new camera.

Thanks a lot for the first demonstration that really helps me to understand how to get Power to the camera. Always thought that the tiny red wire at the RCA cable is just for a trigger signal that I won't need because the CAN-Bus of my Android Radio (like yours) already recognize that that the reverse gear is shifted! I was thinking about to get the Power from the right reverse light of my Astra J (Limo) but now it will make it much more easier because I just need the Ground coming from the Number Plate light because my Camera will get installed there! Thanks a lot for this!
Is your 'Secret' some kind of filter / relais to get a clear signal?

@jonathan9607 i hope i understood you right, pink wire (Reverse Cam) is number 3 in this main connector, which goes to the radio.

Very useful video, can I pls ask where do you ground the black camera cable behind the stereo end? Is it required, I have the camera working without connecting ground ? Thanks

It needs only one ground, which is connected in the rear, near to the camera (black and red cables). I don't know how your camera can work without this ground cable connected. Does it maybe get a ground from the RCA?

@@kaukolaDIY thanks, I think in that case the ground must be connected at the camera end, I have swapped the stereo and had a loose ground left, but this new style stereo also had a combined ground with yellow camera cable behind the stereo.

There is a 12V from reverse light directly from this big Connector?

    • @kaukolaDIY

Reverse signal to the radio unit comes straight from the CAN box, it's a pink wire. I didn't measure, if it's 12V or something else.

@@kaukolaDIY I'm referring to the 12v that powers the rear camera

      Yes, i'm pretty sure, that it's 12V.

Nothing wrong with the camera if u fit it to the rear bumper instead of behind a window 🤣

Yes, outside installation would be a better choice. Behind the window, it works ok in a good light. In Low light, not that good, mainly because i had to block those "infrared" lights, because of the reflection 😁.
