Yes, the Oto sounds better, but the Cobra is so versatile! It's my favorite amplifier. It sounds great with almost any speakers. Thank you for watching!
The OTO does not even drive my AN-J properly 😂. It makes good tone but actually its underpowered. It makes no base and crumbles if you listen to massive attack at decent volumes for example. I will not buy it. I am even personally ofended that they sell this pairing. So no it will not drive your soeakers. It will not drive any speaker in my opinion. It is specialized to make good tone but nothing else.
@@thelastofthedinosaurs Many thanks for your feedback. I currently drive my Harbeth SHL5's with a Graaf GM20 OTL tube power amp. It's got 20w class A and it must have a lot current as it drives the Harbeth's well, even with MassiveAttack. Only problem is Graaf very runs hot and I need to send it off for weeks when a tube goes. So I need a backup power/integrated when Graff being repaired and for summers months. Perhaps an Accuphase or a second hand Spectral. Any amp suggestions are welcome. 😁
Your speakers will be a very difficult load for Oto. It will not work well. However, I would definitely try the Cobra! Cobra works very well with low-sensitivity speakers!
@@pweston1970 Something must be very wrong. I own 2 transmission line speakers filled with the Audio Note units. If I go to 12 O clock on my OTO, I already will neighbors knocking on my door, at 2 O clock, the plaster on my wall start cracking. I measure 94 at 1 watt, yours are 93 db
Thanks for the nice video. Both great amps. Value wise the Cobra with its DAC on board is a very nice AN step in product. Tube rolled and with a proper power cord you will get very far on the long time enjoyment scale with this amp. What recording equipment do you use?
Yes, I agree, the Cobra is a very versatile amplifier! This video was recorded with AKG stereo microphones and a Neumann audio interface. But I'm always experimenting with equipment, so my setup changes constantly. Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Wow - excellent Comparison. I would go for the Oto Sig... Where can i get the CD from Track No. 4 Gerhard Oppelt - Bach - Passacaglia in C minor BWV 582? Its a beatiful music too !!
I don’t know… I haven’t bought any CDs for many years now. I just use my collection that I’ve built up over a lifetime. Thank you for watching and for your comment!
The difference really gets diminished here. In real life (for me) there is no contest. OTO is in a different league entirely. I could live with the OTO forever after, but not with the Cobra. I own them both.
Oto sounds more detailed and refined, instruments are more apparent and better separated. I'm sure that this will be even more noticeable if played through an /SPE.
Cobra gives the advantage of being easy to tube roll. I picked up a notable amount of definition and separation by substituting some NOS Mullard 6AU6’s for the GE’s that came with the unit. Cant really go wrong with either one.
I have the oto and let the cover unscrewed, easy to tube roll, NOS bugle boy 12at7 or philips from holland and nos reflector EL84 equivalent, wonderful!
I’ve tried some various NOS 5670’s and have yet to find one that outperforms the GE’s that came with the unit. Just scored a Quad of vintage Phillips EL34 made in Belgium. HUGE improvement over the EH EL34’s that came with the unit. Might stop here on tube rolling…but probably not😉

Oto more space detail and realism. Thank you for another useful v ideo with the work it took
Nice presentation and set-up 🍺 👍 🔈 🔊 👏.... !
Between those two I bought Oto Sig, both are great, 🐍 more universal, Oto magical..
Thank you, great comparison!
Cobra rocks!
great job!!
Thanks!
Wow 🎉
Oto great amp...
I started off siding with the Oto but by then end, I’m on team Cobra. Thanks for the excellent video!
Cobra has more body!
I like Otto more!
Both seem to spund pretty similar!
Both is great. But, I prefer OTO SE Sig. It more warm, sweet & comfortable.

Great video. Both amazing amps. Would either drive my Harbeth Super HL5 XD's ?

Thank you for watching and your comment. I agree, the Oto Signature is an excellent amplifier in terms of value for money!
I'd go with the snake.

Yes, I also want to try Mullard. It would be great to find a good replacement for EL34...

Thank you for sharing your advice. I also need to replace the output tubes on my Cobra.
@@michelcouture7026 Thank you for watching and commenting. Yes, replacing the tubes with NOS does wonders for the sound!
otto is a little more sweet...what tubes does it use
I haven’t changed the tubes in the amplifier. I’m using the ones that were factory-installed... Far from the best ones...
el84
Cobra wins on looks. OTO wins on sound. I'm sorry but only SE is the heart of AN
OTO SE seems to be more natural, less "hifi".
Thank you for watching!
