- Like thousands of other customers we were effected by the HBO MAX and Amazon beef and could not watch House of the Dragon on the night it premiered. Were any of you affected? It was very frustrating night trying to get the app to work on the app. Finally on Monday night we were able to enjoy this fantastic episode.

That's medieval justice, my dear. There's no CSI, no FBI, nothing. Someone in power says, "This guy did this," and it's over.
And Daemon is not evil. None of the characters really are. Some are more suspect than others, but this is not a black and white time in Westeros history. There is no Ned Stark or Cersei Lannister in this to point at and go "good" or "evil".
I respect that Daemon shows you who he is while Otto pretends to be nice when he is also terrible

5:14 Dreams are extremely important to Targaryens. The reason they were able to escape the Doom of Valyria is because a Targaryen girl dreamed of the Doom and was able to warn her family.
Daenys Targaryen. "The Dreamer". Daughter of Aenar. Though, its also possible that the Targaryen's were exiled or fled Valyria for another reason. Legend doesnt always line up with the truth.
I liked that they showed Daemon crying at The Funeral, they took great effort to show how Antagonistic he is, but then showed us he clearly loves his family.

@@thatoneblackdude3333 I think he knew. On some level he had to. Even Arya calls him out, “how can you let her marry someone like that?” And he has no answer to give her because there isn’t one. He can’t. And ultimately he makes the decision to go back on it, just too late.

Ladies Daemon Targaryen is George Martin's favorite character in all books he's written. This show will be fun with him being the instigator
Matt Smith is another example of don't judge a casting until you see them in the role, because I was like bruh they got Dr who to play one of the most badass characters in the history of westeros then I saw this episode and was highly impressed.
Yeah I was not feeling his casting at all. But your right he appears to be the big bad in the series.

He was great in the Crown, even though it was a story about a constitutional monarchy, I could see small similarities between Prince Philip and Daemon, and I knew he was gonna nail it
In Doctor Who he had lots of scenes where he showed his range and was even menacing. People just see the silly side, that’s not how that character was at all.
Amber’s gonna be Daemon’s biggest fan and make excuses for him when he roasts people with Caraxes. “Well, he had to do it, because those villagers called Caraxes a little punk!” 😉

Keep this in mind about that night raid by the City Watch. Daemon engulfed himself amongst the people of King’s Landing. He knew from the lowliest of the unfortunate of who’s who, the bullies, the worst of the worst in the crime rampant era that King’s Landing was experiencing. Though it looked like he was assaulting randos, he was dispensing justice that night and more (in the books, the attack on crime took over several months, versus the one night we saw here).

My favorite moment, although it came at a sad time, was hearing Rhaenyra pronounce “Dracarys”. That birth scene was excruciating. Felt so bad for her.
Matt Smith portrayal of Daemon Targaryen was nothing short of perfection, he plays the character the way I imagined he would be in a live action format. Can't wait for yah to see more of him, also ladies this show is about the dance of dragons so yah won't be seeing the mad king in this show.

C sections were invented, to my knowledge at least, during the Classical Era within ancient Rome. Julius Caesar was delivered through a C section.
The worst part of that C section was knowing that they never consulted or told that woman what was happening. They just rolled up, cut her open, and took the baby.

1. They were not at Dragonstone for the Great Council at the beginning. They were at Harrenhal.
2. Otto Hightower is playing the game. If Lady Alicent gains the king's favor, House Hightower moves up from being a noble house to a royal one. They would gain more power and influence.

@2:00, Rhaenyra wants “battle and glory” because she has never seen combat. She has never kill anyone. I think that attitude is going to change drastically over time as the show progresses.
I like that twice in the show they had a male warrior talk explicitly about how there is nothing glorious or noble about killing people. It’s sad, brutal, nasty and smelly as Robert Baratheon and Dickon noted.
Due to the nature of the world they and we live in, it is sometimes necessary. But it should never be something a sane moral person relishes or looks forward to.
At the moment, the second season has not been confirmed officially, but work is going on behind the scenes. I read somewhere that the showrunners want to make up to five seasons overall. HBO are waiting to see how well this season does given the level of investment. Initial worldwide viewing figures are encouraging.
As a fan of GRRM. And reading all materials associated with this story. I must agree with George. Dameon Targaryen is my favorite characters within these histories. Definitely top two. #I ride with Dameon. Lololol. Get ready for a ride.

Cersei. Lannister told Ned Stark: When you play the game of thrones, you win or you will die. There is no middle ground. Let us hope that The House of Dragons is able to capture that same level of passion, intrigue, and debauchery that Game of Thrones has.

@@andrewmcgill9544 GRRM specifically told this show's creators about Aegon's dream of the Long Night.. I've even read he approved of this specific dialogue describing it. Perhaps that's a hint that his book version of it will be far different then what Season 8 showed.

What great about this time in GoT is Targaryens are in full glory here. There’s at least 10 dragons supposed to be in this show. At this time dragons are all around in different forms, from eggs being hatched to full grown.
Each Targaryen pairs with a dragon, whether a new one or one handed down from a deceased relative.
The King Viserys dragon was the skull in the basement they showed at the end that was his grandfather’s before (the old man from the intro scene who named him king). That dragon was the oldest of them all at like 200 years old!
This show is supposed to follow how the Targaryens messed themselves up and split themselves apart so that by the time of the Mad King being defeated the Targaryen’s name was just a joke and there was nothing left. Which is why GoT season 1 starts with Daenerys having no home or family to go to and no one fears them. And no one has seen a dragon in decades and they are thought to be all myths! So cool
The Old King's dragon is Vermithor the Bronze Fury and is still alive.
That skull belonged to Balerion the Black Dread, who singlehandedly destroyed Harrenhal. He was ridden by Aegon the Conqueror, Maegor the Cruel, Princess Aerea and then King Viserys.
Nice reaction. I think they chose this time because it's 172 years before the song of fire and ice. Which gives the show plenty of years to show before they have to worry about catching up to the other show. That secret at the end was a big one. It begs the question did Dany know about it? I think it unlikely since her brother just knew he was going to be king. And of course, died before he could tell Dany anything like that. After watching this first episode he feels like she was set up to be Queen. The dragons after this will start becoming smaller until they're no more of them until Dany's hatch.

Ladies, they're just trying to tell the story of 'The Dance of the Dragons' from what I understand, they're not trying to bring this up to Dany & Jon's time. I don't know how many seasons it will take them to get to the actual event but I wouldn't expect them to go much _beyond_ that point.
The author wrote ALOT of books about Westros and these families, I think we can look forward to them picking more important events & titles from that series to bring to the screen. If they do 'The Mad King' it will probably be just about him with a little 'Maegor I' thrown in (He was the CRUELEST King of that family)

the reality is daemon could have killed them, he was the greatest warrior in that era and one of the greatest in the history of westeros, had he not get cocky and started show boating vs criston he could have easily killed him even without dark sister. that said daemon loves his brother and his family, harsh love but love none the less and that is why he let things slide then.

It isn’t about him thinking that his daughter isn’t worthy, it’s that it has to be a son. It’s a slap in the face to his eldest cousin Princes Rhaenys. They held a vote at Harenhall to make him the heir over her. He actually made a mistake making his daughter the heir.
Then that means it was for nothing.
I dont think it's ever a case of not thinking his daughter is worthy I believe its more the realm won't accept it and it would lead to anarchy. The male heir is tradition and going against that takes crazy guts, especially when there's is a strong male lead already for years in Dameon

We know now that Aegon foresaw the coming of the Night King and White Walkers. He just didn't know how far in the future it was. And this knowledge was passed to each Targaryian heir but by the time of Daenerys there was nobody left to tell her or her brother

Isn't it interesting how current events in this fictitious kingdom mirror the events in our own? As a Black American man, I particularly found the lack of a woman's body autonomy to be most troubling! The royal birth scene and the King's Hand sending his daughter in to "comfort" Viserys, is right in line with a bunch of male law-makers today. Many of which believe that a woman should defer to them (The State) or her husband's wishes/desires as to whether she should give birth or not...and that rape victims should give "comfort" to their abusers, by being forced to carry their attackers seed to term. Wake up, women!

In "House of the Dragon", there are some characters who don't want or did not want the Iron Throne - Viserys doesn't seem to have wanted it, Daemon, contrary to some opinions, doesn't want it (he does want his brother's approval/attention and everybody's adulation), Otto doesn't want it for himself but for his future dynasty, Alicent doesn't want it; Corlys Velaryon is still angry about his wife Rhaenys' not having won the Iron Throne (more angry than she is by now)...Otto is not quite as capable as Tywin, nor as wealthy, nor as cold.

To be fair to daemon he was able to drastically reduce crime in a very short period with what he did and the people were breaking laws and those were the punishments, the council was mad because of how they did it in public en mass like that

random question: does it say in the books how the mormonts got a valyrian steel sword? I cant remember. I only ask because, what if George reveals in the show that dark sister was given to the northerners at some point during or after hour of the wolf and “longclaw” was actually dark sister in disguise.

My understanding... there should be 10-20 dragons in this series. The Mad King will not be involved in this at all. This series revolves around the Targaryen War called The Dance Of The Dragons only

And Unfortunately they won't be covering the Mad King as he comes qbout 100 years after the ending of the events of the "Dance of The Dragons" however they made do the "Roberts Rebellion" as a series which covers the Mad King and the events that lead up to Danerys birth and the events of the main series. There are so many events that can cover, Aegon Conquest is about 150 years before the events of "House of The Drago" that also could be a series and many others.
Unfortunately thats how cadavers were surgically opened.
