@@Movingonup75@Movingonup75 I just enjoy it for one thing, the quiet, challenge, and solitude, 2. I dont have many friends into winter hiking sadly. I always go over prepared tho and do my best to be safe
I appreciate seeing the video images here. I have my photographs taken in January 2000 of the Lion's Head Winter Route. A climbing friend and I drove there from Ontario, into Quebec, crossed the border into Vermont, to New Hampshire. From Quebec onwards, a raging winter storm made even these two Canadians question themselves. (During the last bunch of miles approaching Joe Dodge Lodge approaching midnight, with a failing master brake cylinder... .) Our trip involved overnighting at Hermit Lakes Campground on the way up, and down. Holidays for two hospital workers! We got the weather we pretty much expected all along in planning, -38F both nights at HLC, more snow during windless nights, sunny -25F daytimes with easy 20 mph winds - that itself nothing on Mt. Washington. We got lucky that way. Our car was entirely buried back at Joe Dodge Lodge... . Mind you, we were prepared and geared having had lifetimes of winter snow experience. Kudos to you for what appears to have been a large first go at snow play! I am glad and unsurprised the others you met on the trail were helpful to you. The mountains there are beautiful. Mt Washington, while not a 'high' mountain itself is no less a great training ground for those that are learning 'how to' in and for serious conditions whether high or not. (Hope the fellow at 13:00 had a good adventure on Mount Shasta - another holiday in 2002 I climbed the north side of it up the Hotlam-Winton glacier route). Adventure people are good people, I find. Good luck out there.
You are right. You cannot not take a walk in the woods on a gorgeous day, snow and all, in the Whites. I am sooooo Jealous. Climbing Mt. Wash. in the Winter is on my bucket list. I only climb the Rock Pile in the Summer when there is a lot more time to deal with any situation. I want to see what it's like on the summit without a bunch of non-hikers on it and a 45 minute wait to get a picture at the summit sign.
This is a great video. That trail is no joke. You did an awesome job.
Thank you
All of the winter high peaks I summit I do solo, but it sure does put your mind at ease when you see other people on the trail.
Why solo?

Congrats on your climb..
My brother was with the guide that called you Texas..
It was his first ascent also..
Awesome, right on. Those guys definitely know what they're doing. 🤙

Damnnnn I’m so ready to go!
Incredible job! Awesome video!
Great video
Thank you, greatly appreciated.
I did Pierce Mountain up there about two or three months ago and it was amazing. Targeting Mount Washington summit this winter. Appreciate the video.
Thank you, hope all goes well.

It's definitely a different experience. Tough, but worth every step.
Great job man !🤙
Sorry for the late response. But thank you, greatly appreciated.
Great video!
Thank you
Did you use semi automatic crampons?
Yes, Petzl's. Locked into my La Sportiva Aequilibrium
That's mountaineering. I done Mount Washington in winter many times, but only to just above Tuckwrmans Ravine. Never solo, I would need a guide.
It's an epic area. Hope to get back there soon one day.
fuck yeah
A texas boy can survive
Almost. This Texan certainly doesn't do snow, lmao.
It ALL about the bragging
How do you get so much leave to do all this traveling as an active duty soldier?
Saved up 78 day of leave prior to my ETS date.
