It's good to know they still play this. It's rare to have a band like this around with the same members as in 1976, and if anything they've gotten even better.
On this day in 1976 {February 22nd} the Stampeders' covered version of "Hit the Road Jack" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #79; and five weeks later on March 28th, 1976 it peaked at #40 {for 2 weeks} and spent 8 weeks on the Top 100... In the trios' native Canada it peaked at #6 on the RPM 100 chart... They had two other Top 100 records; "Sweet City Woman" {#8 in 1971} and "Devil You" {#61 in 1972}... But in their native Canada they had nineteen records make the RPM 100 chart; seven made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "Sweet City Woman"... They just missed having three #1 records when both "Carry Me" {1971} and "Wild Eyes" {1972} peaked at #2..
That's how it always was. We'd be standing on the chairs dancing. This has to be a taping. They wouldn't be sitting their that calm. Calm and a Stampeders concert just doesn't happen.
@GranTruismo4head - I know it has been 7 months since your comment asking which one is Ronnie King?I saw nobody answered your question.Ronnie King is the one playing Bass,Rich Dodson Plays Electric guitar and Kim Berly on drums.
He is addictive. I have read books that weren't about him .I am reading Violinnow The Witches serious is awesome if you ever want to read another series of her books. Anyone who likes Lestat is usually crazy about them any Taltos books are part of this. Read them in sequence though. Continue reading about him there are a lot of us who are Lestat lovers. Once you start you start you are hooked! Haven't read the new Wolf Gift yet, but it still makes them long for more Lestat, we love him!
PLEASE NOTE THE REACTION OF THE AUDIENCE!!! . . . back in the Olden Days . . . Calgary/Alberta enjoyed the Music ..... BUT, there was some weird thing about not showing it!!! WEIRD, EH!!!
Wow - is that drummer Bon Scott's twin? Pause the video at 1:20 - that googly eye expression is exactly Bon. Plus Bon started out drumming... could it be?
Ronnie King is your grandpa and you love Lestat. Nothing bad to be said about you. I like your grandpa and I love Lestat both for many years.Maybe close to the same amount, but I knew Lestate's sorry in the early 70's when Louis first told it. How long have you know him?
Last ditch effort for a "hit single". Good version, but the Wolfman was already after The Guess Who's version maybe a year before, we all thought they were copy cats..
I still love this... Old time rock and roll. It will never die.
It's good to know they still play this. It's rare to have a band like this around with the same members as in 1976, and if anything they've gotten even better.
