Over the years I've learned not to wait for everyone else before going on an adventure. Better solo than never going. Also another old slow guy. :)

It's easier to go solo when you're on well-traveled roads and can heal easily from broken bones. The issue with doing a BDR solo - or any dirt track riding for that matter - is if the road isn't well traveled and you go down, help isn't a guarantee and you can get into serious trouble fast. Fear should never stop us from having adventures, but wisdom is needed to avoid dangerous situations.

Just be very careful. It is dangerous to be out in the woods alone if something happens. God forbid. Strongly consider a one spot or other satellite communicator, there’s not a lot of cell service out there. Let us know what you do, I’d like to hear from you again.

Great job! I ran the MABDR solo my first time and mostly ride the sections that way only because being retired I am out when others can not be. I love being out on the MABDR as it changes every day with weather and seasons.. You did a really nice job taking us along in your adventure. This is where you will find what changes you want to make for you and your bike for next time.It is great that you show what we always say about getting lost on the route as it is EASY to do on the small roads/trails when you encounter Y and T intersections that come out of nowhere. Really glad you had a good time on this amazing BDR and maybe see you out here sometime! Be safe in your travels my friend! Craig/MABDR

I really liked your easy going at times self deprecating style of narrating. I love riding solo, sometimes at a snails pace and sometimes not. From a safety standpoint it's always better to ride with a partner but there's something special about riding solo. I also used to occasionally whitewater kayak solo which is also not recommended. I always paddled more conservatively but all my senses were heightened at the time. It's the same I feel when riding solo and it's uniquely satisfying at some level. Thanks for sharing.

Hoping to tackle some of this trail this year. Did a cross country solo ride on a Himilayan, but probably going to upgrade? into a more tried and true KLR for more adventures with better capability (and reliability). I enjoyed watching your ride of the section. I've heard things about trail conditions on Tub Run, and it appears you had the better side of that. I appreciate your talking about the tires for this stuff. When I rode, it was on some 50/50 tires and they weren't very fun off road, especially on a low-powered 420 lbs stallion like the Enfield. I'll probably be ready for my ride by June-ish.

I've only got about 400 miles on the new tires but I can tell there's an incredible difference. It used to be if there was a little bit of mud the bike would slip and slide underneath me. Now you give a little gas and the bike straightens right up and maybe slips for just a second. I rode through four to six inch mud on a mile long road the other day and while nerve-racking it worked out fine.
