Rock Adventure Side 1 (software decoded v2)

  • This is the first side of an old Pioneer Japan music/etc disk, captured from the raw laserdisc signal using a Hauppauge PCI card with special CX23880 drivers (updated by me to support Linux 3.x kernels), and then decoded entirely in software. This includes time base correction, some error rejection, and a 3D comb filter. I believe this is the first free software full NTSC decoder.
    It's still hackish, but you can look at it here: github.com/hap... and cxadc-linux3.
    Improvements since V1 are better color quality, new TBC code, somewhat reduced speckling (this disk has a bit of rot), and CX decoding (still needs tuning, there's pumping still - I need better reference material)

    I have this disk, bought it for a laugh at the time as had never handled a laserdisc. Years later still buying them :D

      @@user-xg3ks8jx9s I think this song was not released except on this LD. I found the song title from an image of the back cover. The Japanese release is called "ロック・アドベンチャー 音楽と映像による冒険野郎の叙情詩", and you can find pictures of the back cover on auction sites.
