- Conclusion to moving Deception Raceways to Texas. It traveled some 2200 miles to arrive at its new home. Did it make it ?? In this video I unbox and set the layout on legs , plus do a flyover showing what it looks like now with comparison pics of what it looked like before it’s major uprooting to Texas
I take away this "morale of the story" no matter what, build your track with a plan to move it just in case! I don't plan on ever moving again, but just in case I'll build mine with a plan to move it! Looks like the packing was a success!
😂…. That’s a pretty good moral… 😂 I think I might design the track to be broken down into two different sections this time around… although I was able to move this monstrosity this time , I really don’t want to do this again 😂…. Two sections would be much easier..

@@BoonesSlotCarGarage… When I moved into my current house (2016), I had a neighbor who I thought was a model railroader. He had this elaborate Swiss Alps layout that took up half of his garage.
Turned out he wasn’t a model railroader. He was a guy who like to build scenic scale models and used the train (had flatbread car with a camera mounted on it) to record his models from a passenger’s perspective. Once he finished recording a variety of perspectives, he would destroy that build and start another. I’ll never forget the time I went for a walk and there was a pile of rubble that use to be Swiss Alps.

In your future videos, I’d love to see you zoom out and hold the shot so we can enjoy the full work coming together. I’ve watched 10 or so videos so far and the detail shots are great, but we never get to see the full track. I’ll be looking forward to future content. Just bought our first set this week!

I am truly amazed at deception raceway l have been watching a few vlogs on how you do your features lm amazed. Delighted that deception made the journey and can't wait to see the raceway back up and running.
How is the painted track would you recommend doing it ?

Well Boone Thank god you had it in garage and not basement crawl space where I am building mine..
And if you had a wood track you would have had to cut it in sections for the weight alone to move...
So is this a Hobby or is this what you do for living and now moving to Texas ???
A wood track can be made into separate sections, so moving it can be possible. And a plastic track can be made the same way. My issue was that moving the track never really crossed my mind when I first started building my layout. If it had I would have made some adjustments 😂 in the design process… This is a hobby for me . Maybe someday I can turn it into something more some day…
Looking back, do you wish you'd have cut it in half width wise? You wouldnt of had the full length repair + the full width repair to deal with.....
If I could have done that I would have. Only issue that I had with making that cut is the waterfall area of the layout. It would have destroyed that complete area. Just couldn’t bring myself to doing that. But it would have made shipping it much easier to do.
