In this video, you will discover how easy it is to do two hand fingerspelling in Auslan (Australian Sign Language) & BSL (British Sign Language) with Lisa Mills (deaf & bilingual in spoken English & Auslan / BSL) from Honeybee Creations www.honeybee-creations.com
Thank you the deaf community needs more people showing sign language & teaching people whom want to learn yous are awsome 🙏👌💯
Thank you very much for making these. Your descriptions on how to make the hand shapes makes learning so much faster than just plain copying.
Thank you! :)
Thanks for the very clear and instructional video. Easy to follow along with but not babying. I learnt all the letters in a good fifteen minutes. I'll make sure to keep practicing, then move onto numbers! I have always been good at learning languages, but this is totally different to speaking and writing new concepts, so I really needed a good video. :)
I am right-handed so I mirrored this in my VLC and it was really easy to follow. I find that is the easiest way for me to learn. I'm now going to enrol in one of her courses!
this video is easy to copy as a left-hander xD
I know right :)
ohhhh yeahhhh!! hahaha. That's cool. I'm right handed!
Only watched a short amount but this is SO much better than other videos I have seen.
I Thank you soo much Lisa for putting this video together I have been struggling with this, you are so thoughtful in going slowly and giving us a chance to follow appreciated and grateful as I do want to learn but need video to help me along :) xxx
Thank you for this video, i am trying to teach my self sign language, this video was so useful with the dominant hand reminders !
Very clear and easy to follow. As a leftie, I wondered if it matters that I was doing things like 'J' backwards? I'll have to be practising some more!
This is an incredible tutorial - thank you!
I work at a tourist centre and have a lot of customers who come in with a hearing disability. Really enjoying learning this now so that I can actually communicate with them in a way that makes them feel heard :)
Thank you :)
thank you! this helped alot. learnt the auslan alphabet many years ago but forgot it. this video was really easy to follow. thanks!
This was easier to pick up than the tutorial i had to waste money on
I’m not deaf but I want to learn Auslan because it’s a good skill to have
Ahah! This video was so clear, thank you :)
Handshapes names and everything!
Thank you! This is so easy to follow
thank you so much!
great quality video, very easy for the little ones to pick up as well with the audio reminders. thanks heaps, we've subbed.
Thank you I'm so pleased you have found it helpful 😄
+Lisa Mills My 4 y.o, 1 y.o and myself just had our first (late night) lesson with the alphabet which was very quickly picked up, by myself and mr 4 atleast. We had watched a few prior to yours and the ones that did have audio were quite fast, and the rest were only subtitled so no good for the kids yet. We'll go through all your videos to learn Auslan, thanks for making these available and keep up the good work!
+Madi Hanna oh wow that's terrific! I also have a sign with lisa DVD which is great for all your little kids. My 3yo and 1yo love it! I.ll try to put up some more videos soon. Have fun with fingerspelling! Kids love animal signs too! 😀👏
+Lisa Mills I'll have to get that! I love free resources, but I make a habit of contributing to those that do put out great quality material for free and not just half of the vid with the banner to buy the rest of it :-P Send me through the link if you have one, or I can scour your page in the morning :-)
+Madi Hanna that's handy to know. Thank you. Here is my link for the DVD. I know your kids will love it. honeybee-creations.com/product/dvd-sing-sign-with-lisa/ 😄🌺
can I ask why it matters left and right handed?
itis so that people will know whether you are left handed or right handed
I think it's for consistency, imagine someone saying "Hot" line an Aussie and then they saying "Mop" like an American. But they did this for every second word they said, it world be strange and possible confusing. Doing it with your dominant hand also makes it easier since that does more of the movements you do in your daily life; your motor skills are better in your dominant hand.
This video was so easy to follow and I basically know the alphabet now which is good- I just had one question. The other day at work (I work at a supermarket) I came across a man who I'm pretty sure was deaf. If was to ask him if he was deaf and how he was for example, would I be able to use finger spelling? Thanks :)
Dharma Haluska wonderful I'm glad to hear that! Yes you can fingerspell to him if you don't know Auslan signs. It's a great start! He will love it.

Auslan fingerspelling is the same as BSL :)
That doesn't surprise me, seeing as British speak very similarly to us Aussies in English speech anyway. I accidentally started learning ASL for a while because I didn't know how different they were at times.
Auslan is also semi based off of bsl
Would you mind re-uploading with a reverse tilt video? I've already done it for myself and would love to send you the mirrored version. I'm starting from absolute 0 and found it hard to follow because everything is reversed. I downloaded it and flipped it adn it's fantastic. I'm happy to send you the flipped version or walk you through how to do it with your respective software.
Cheers, Jon
Forgive my dumb head. Obviously if someone is signing at me, i'm going to see what you're doing. I'm sorry. I'll leave this comment up because it's dumb and I can't be the only only one this dumb.
Cheers.
So is the alphabet the same as in bsl???
Rebecca Hardie yes the same as BSL 😀
wow can you put how to do taylah name in sign leagues
what if you break one of your hands??
Don't break your hand then :)
U can do asl if it broken
want to learn auslan, tried it through the night classes taught by someone who is deaf it was all to much too fast i only went to one lesson , was very disappointed as sign language is something Ive always wanted to learn
You need to sign up to my Auslan Online course lisamills.teachable.com/p/auslan-online-bundle-level-1-2
I'm a Australian but learning ASL and just thought I'd watch this it's so different even Auslan is lazy like normal Australian haha kinda made me laugh
liz116 hi liz, Auslan is by no means a lazy sign language. This is slow paced lesson for beginners in Auslan. 😀
haha i know i was just making a joke of a observation. i hope to actually go and take lessons when i can.
