Now that was a dynamite day in the canyon. Thanks for the video. I know the fly section of that river quite well. My personal best there for one full day is 36 in the net, back in about 2010 or so. I told my wife and son many times I want my ashes scattered in the first riffle below the barbed fence at the dam. A whole lotta great times there for sure. Thanks again.
I wish I was there fishing again. No fishing like that around me here in Texas. My dad and I used to fish there almost every weekend, 35 years ago. Brings back some good memories with my dad. He passed away in 08. We were lucky enough to get to the care taker of the dam pretty well. He took us in and let us fish in the restricted area 2 or 3 times. We used bait. We liked to use rock worms if we could find any, if not we would use meal worms. Most of our fishing was between the last bridge ( culverts ) to the fence in the beginning of your video. I miss the fishing, watching the rock climbers and seeing the bald and golden eagles.
Yeah buddy! Love seeing those fish react to the shadow when that bird shoots across frame. Missing that Timmy time brother! Need to connect for real soon!
I feel you, the stealing of a pig sticker hurts. My advice would be to bump down to a 3wt or 4wth the extra play keeps them.on the hook and they aren't to large
Nice day out there those fish are smarter then ever now and know how to break a person off. I’ve really have been thinking using 3x out there because I’m sick of being broken off.
@@kaiweaver1151 the predominate hatches in July will be PMDs, Caddis, and Tricos with a fair amount of Hoppers buzzing around the banks. Nymphs: Try gray and black RS2's in sizes 20-22, Darth Baetis in sizes 18-22, Graphic Caddis and Buckskins in sizes 16-18, and the always faithful Flashback Pheasant Tail in sizes 18-22. Dry Fly Patterns: Amy's Ants in sizes 8-10, Parachute Hopper in sizes 8-10, and Parachute Adams in sizes 18-22. -Tim
I was fishing a 6 weight early on and I think the fast action was the reason those smaller fish kept slipping the hook. I changed to a 4 weight and began landing more fish. I often carry two rod/reel setups when I fish.

Jerry, thank you for sharing those memories with me. Sounds like your father was a good man and a great dad. -Tim

Indeed Zen Master! The river seems to be one of the only things that calms the madness these days.
It is my favorite fly and I only brought one!...Hank Patterson
Nice fish. I lose more then I land there on a typical day. Love how they eat off your feet in there too.
It's good to know, I'm not the only one. ;)
What’s your setup man? Bad ass videos 👍
I think in this video I was using a Sage LE 4wt 9' rod. Using a WF4F line. -Tim

Hello, I’m planning a visit up from south Texas at the end of august, is it a good time of the year to go?
It's a tailwater, so it fishes pretty good year round. End of August should fish great. -Tim
I used a small crappie/bluegill jig with 2lb test and a 25 dollar spincast rig here and out fished everyone 2-1
Solid work.
Nice fish! What size tippet were you using?
The flows were up that day. I think we were using 4x and sometimes dropping to 5x.

question from a beginner; why gloves?
They just protect my hands from the constant exposure to the sun. That’s also why I wear long sleeve’s even on hot summer days. -Tim
im staying at spillway eleven mile campground, is it any good around that place. also fishing the dream stream
Yes. The fishing near the Spillway Campground is excellent! You'll undoubtedly have a great time. -Tim

@@CombatFlyFishing for flashbacks do you like beads or not
At 2:35 I feel that struggle happened to me 4 times last Friday. :(
Something about those fish. They are good at escaping the net!
Hey man I’m fishing there in a few days and fly suggestions
question from a novice. Do you use an indicator? When you are fishing "your" worm do you have two flies on?
It depends on the water I’m fishing, but generally I do use a strike indicator and I typically fish a two fly rig.
@@CombatFlyFishing Thanks. Your videos are epic.
Wait did u switch reels, and if so why?
