Appreciate the feedback. It's great to hear that kind of insight and we'll be looking to include some more of that stuff in future Reading Water videos and other videos on the channel!
I was going to say much the same thing! How much weight and how did he decide the amount? Also, curious as to the indicator choice, yarn is touted as a good choice for spooky canyon fish. A good video, thanks for doing this!
I really liked the longer video while he talked about various spots and how to approach them. I also really liked the multiple camera angles. Definitely a fan of this and future videos like it!
There are lots of golden tips for Cheesman in this video. Nice "thinking out loud" approach to the many actions/tasks that an angler should focus on to succeed here. Thanks for putting it together.
So awesome! This is really informative for any water. Loved the play by play. Thank you! One improvement might be to add some fisherman POV shots, maybe on especially good casts/drifts, hooksets, net landing, etc. This might be really helpful for the upcoming euro video. And I’m going to have to check out these playlists. This is the I heard of that!
that's a great suggestion! we already filmed a float fishing one that will be releasing in the next 24 hours or so. The carp one we filmed today and we used a chest mounted GoPro and we'll be doing the same for the Euro one we're filming in a couple of weeks!
Did he say Top Secret Midge? Size? 3-fly rig but was it end-to-end or a tailed setup so to speak? Smokin' vid! Thanks! Oh and keep those Spotify Playlists coming! I'm saving those for my river drives and a winter trip to the Green. Cheers!
I go here 1-2 times a week. The fishing the last 3 weeks has been lights out. Great video! Edit: I’m also glad I’m not the only one who will have multiple good fish in that run and have one or two come off haha. I think the different flows in current mess with keeping them stuck. That’s what I tel myself at least.
Can't disagree. It was fun to watch Scott pick apart that run, but also refreshing to know hooking and landing fish on small flies is a pain, no matter how good you are. Thanks for watching Conor!
Great video I was wondering what size split shot he was using and where he placed it on the line? Also how far was the weight from the indicator I know he said he will adjust the depth as needed. I can use all the help I can get fishing Cheesman 😂
Not sure on the exact size of the weights, but typically he puts it 12-16" above his lead fly. Scott generally prescribes to the idea that the distance between his indicator and the weight should be 1.5-2x the depth of the water that he's fishing.
great vid. I liked seeing him use 5x as I get too wrapped up in 6x/7x in Cheese. Based on the comments, I'm not the only one who has a poor fish-in-net ratio on my hook ups!
The best day i've had out on the water was with Scott - solid solid dude.
Scott is the man!
Good to see I'm not the only one who loses 3/4 of my fish in Cheesman! 😂 Great video please post more of these!
Love this new series. Would love to see the rigging in more detail as it relates to the water. Length from indicator, weight position, etc.

For new flyfishermen this is extremely valuable. This is the « missing link « .Listen well youngsters!

Appreciate it, Jesse!
Thanks for the new series, would you please make a video about depth/tippet adjustment. Your help is always appreciated.

Love this! Would love that shot on the left of the screen to be tighter to be able to spot the indicator.
We agree. We're going to try a couple different things when filming the next one! GoPro. Closer drone shots and hope we don't spook all the fish. 😂😂😂
Yes keep this up!!! Amazing content
Keep em coming!!
Thanks for this video! This is exactly what I needed to help fill in some gaps in my knowledge of fishing the canyon.
Great video! Interesting to see how someone else works the water. Very intuitive! Best!
Great content! Please keep it coming!
Great video! Awesome being at cheesman too, Keep these coming!
Great video. Super unique. Props!
Really informative and well done. Cheers guys.
Great job and beautiful day Scott show um how it's done my friend. I believe I've seen a face shot on a failed hook set?
I thought I seen that also it was when he lost the fish! Haha glad he didn’t catch one to the face 👍🏼

Loving the split camera angles. Was it just a second person up the canyon or were you using a drone?
Excellent video. It would really be helpful if you could edit/draw your drift in the overhead shot.

Beautiful!
We need this same video but for Spring of 2022.
Need to tell us which fly the hit on.
Good stuff!

This dude is like the Bob Ross of fishing videos…
Totally
Right now we are going to fish some happy little nymphs
I think we have officially determined Scott’s Halloween costume.

@@TroutsFlyFishing Thanks interesting to hear that he used a 7.5ft 3x I've always used a 9ft 5x leader I will have to switch it up
One suggestion: Indicate where the fly lands and drifts on the left window.
Slow down on the first part where he discusses the rig setup. Otherwise this was amazing and would love to see more just like this of the major spots.

A bit pretencious to call this reading the water in my humble oppinion... but thanks for the video anyway, beautiful canyon
Nice presentation style. Laid back discussion, no music. So many channels are going for the EPIC OMG factor and it's just way too much.
