I need to do the same, not for noise but to clean out the dust - you can smell it when you switch on the AC. GX spec 105's did not come with a cabin filter and I have read that not all 100's did either, you may not have one.
There's a filter in there and it was pretty dirty. I change it frequently but not frequently enough! I took it out during this service and banged it out too.
My ‘99 Cruiser a/c fan sounded like a 747 taking off on higher speeds. Followed this video and it had a LOT of debris. Cleaned, reinstalled and sounds like a kitten purring. Thanks!
This was great - thanks for saving me a couple trips to the garage looking for the right Torx bit. Swapped out in ten minutes and now my AC blows how it's supposed to again (without a ton of vibration and noise). I'm curious if I can get the old motor/ fan separated without breaking stuff too badly and then repair- seems in generally good shape but the fan itself has quite a bit of vertical runout on the motor shaft and that's what was causing my issue. After 24yrs and 250k in the South it was just worn out. :p
@@thelandcruiserproject HAHA, leaves and a few light sticks... I was very surprised by the dust; it was tightly compacted onto the blades. Even though it appeared clean at a glance, it really wasn't when I first pulled it out. I used a little water and a toothbrush to clean the blades.
* COMMENT-- Answering since you asked if anyone knew the answer: The cut on the lower left of your glove box tell-tale one made to clean/remove/replace the AC evaporator and/or the TXV valve connected to it. On the forums this is the only way to actually get out out of the tight fit. You do this if one day freon cans quickie job of getting your AC cool fails. Or if you have a dog and just want to get the accumulated fur and leaves out of your AC system. It will run cooler by allowing the AC to operate more efficiently. Same concept as having a filthy AC front condenser.
@@thelandcruiserproject yeah, just completely replaced the AC system: DENSO compressor, evaporator, TXV /expansion valve, 4 seasons condenser, all o-rings with Nylog, flush all hoses and AC lines, vacuum, test, freon. Done. 40 degree AC for years to come. A ton of work but worth it
At least Toyota designed their system to where you can access the Blower (and probably other components) fairly easily, unlike some manufacturers...caugh...Land Rover...I know.
Thank you! I'm about to replace my blower fan with a new oem unit b/c of noise. One question, there is some water that leaks into my passenger footwell ('03 LC). I've checked the drain hose in the engine bay and it is not clogged and water comes out there too. Any more ideas for what may be causing this?
@@thelandcruiserproject yep if i can find them, under the dash somewhere, probably the evaporator that keeps dripping the odd drop on my foot as I drive. it was dripping on the odbc plug socket which would cause half dozen dash warning lights to all come on. i had to put the socket in a ziplock bag to stop the shorting
@@thelandcruiserproject yep right hand drive, australia, was a country car before I bought it, so its full of dust and god knows. i found this guys video, take a look at the crap he pulled out of the evaporator, unbelievable. but gotta get that drip stopped ua-cam.com/video/YZeGRYuFbQs/v-deo.html

I cleaned mine last weekend, its smells and sounds a bit quieter. Super easy!
Great job! What'd you find in there?

Perfect for my HZJ71 too. Thanks for the clear instructions!
You're welcome

Nice work! Have you had to do that job on a 100?

Keep in mind its not a Philips drive. Its a t-25 torx, if i remember correctly, or an 8mm socket.
Yup, T25 as show in the video. Good tip on the 8mm.
thanks, way easy. 3 screws is as easy as it gets. My blower fan had play in the shaft and makes a big noise when it spins. Easy replacement though
Way to take care of it. Nice and easy access design from Toyota on this.
Thanks for the very useful and easy fix. Saved time and money 😀
I'm glad it helped you.
Great job! Really enjoying your videos!
Thanks for watching!
Where's the best place to get a replacement fan?
They are all over. Amazon, local dealer, partsouq. Take your pick.
@@thelandcruiserproject Wow, thanks for the quick response
How about the aircon works some times but not other times, is it the control board of the blower or?
Depends on what's going on and not turning on or off. Likely an AC compressor issue or leak. Get it checked out by a professional.
Does anyone know how to fix a misaligned glove compartment door? The hinges are in the right placė. Is this because of the warped plastic over time?
You could either replace the door or get a heat gun and heat it up and bend it back into shape.

Hello
We need project for 200 series land cruiser for
How to clean the ac in side
Thnx
I'm accepting donations!
Fyi.. To my knowledge, not all LC have cabin air filters.. I'd check to see
Yep, I have one. All that dust was getting past it!
@@thelandcruiserproject the filters are post fan to filter air before going through the heater core.
Anyone know the OEM part number for this blower? I need to replace mine which only comes on when it feels like it. 2001 Land Cruiser 4.7
Check this against the 2001, but this is what it is on the 1999:
87103-60250
@@thelandcruiserproject thank you. Just checked and this would fit my 2001 LC as well.

Sunroof drain, likely.
@@thelandcruiserproject Ok thank you! I will try that.
i guess its the same procedure for my 90 series , no cabin filter, the smell of the dust is rank
Might need to remove and blown out the evaporator as well if it’s that bad smelling.

Interesting video. I like how the 90 there has a removable bottom metal brace. The 100 has a plastic one you have to cut to get at the evaporator.
Clean your hole is always good advice
No one likes a dirty hole.
@@thelandcruiserproject amen
for getting the cooling coil out , wihtout take apart the whole dashboard. 😆😆
I like the captions.
Finally! Someone noticed!
the frame was cut by someone replacing the AC evaporator
Yup!
That is so easy to remove. Some cars require most of the dash to be removed.
It still got me to curse though! It's a pain to get under and around, but it's still an easy job for sure. Thanks for watching!

I’m big time. Am I a real UA-camr yet?
@The Land Cruiser Project You have a land cruiser so you have good taste and that's all that matters lol.
I don’t actually have a Land Cruiser…anymore. I do have good taste still though.
