Hey Zippomaster! First, thx for the nice Infos. Especially the modding with cotton and plastic and making the wick a bit down gave my zippo an upgrade haha! Second sorry school is long ago so my english could be a bit rusty! I don´t know how to contact you, so i write here. Didn´t see something about that topic in your channel here, or in the old one, tough i didn´t look much on the old one about it. Questions: Do you know the Zippo Skull Jacket Lighter Ibushi Silver - Thing? It´s expensive, at least for me, i guess i won´t never buy, but my neighbor has an eye on it. If yes, could you tell more about this Zippo? And the big question is: Why it (or other cases) are not fully... "armored"? Instead they have a hole at the bottom, and there is just a metal cover with the zippo brand, made in in USA, written? Wouldn´t it be better from design if even the bottom would also be "armored"? Is there a special reason why some armor cases are "open" at the bottom? Hope my english is understandable enough that you know what i try to explain. I stop now before writing a book! Thx again for the nice Infos and the nice work you do with your Videos! Throw an axe for me! Best wishes from South-Bavaria
Thanks buds !! Yeah the mods just make the zippo experience much better and smoothly operational. I actually Havent herd or seen that zippo. Might be a Japanese custom. As for your other question. I just bought a brass Zippo in the street finish here in Ohio at Walmart for around $10.50 or so, after stripping the lacquer finish off with some strong acetone its been my main smoking lighter. Only the M1 Garand comes close to the classic Zippo ping.
My biggest issue with Zippo lighters is that the graphic Zippos are made so cheap that the graphics wear right off. I've had two lighters now that I spent 35 + dollars on each. They looked awesome at first, but within a month or less, the graphics were gone. I didn't abuse or drop my Zippo, I simply used it gentlly and carried in my pocket. What was I left with, a plain scratched up brass Zippo with no graphics. Maybe im missing something, but am I correct to assume that unless I invest in an engraved Zippo, I'm sinply wasting money on the graphic ones, unless I just buy to look at them? I'm thinking of buying one more graphic Zippo and spraying the graphic with a clear coat sealent to see if that might prevent it from rubbing off like a cheap decal.
I know man it’s so annoying they are the cheapest stickers on a zippo. And like you mention they are 35$ ! That’s why I make my own customs lol if I were u I’d just get an engraved one. Now your idea of clear coat does work though. But I just get a friend with a really good printer to print u off a sticker for the one that is already ruined. Why buy another one
@Zippofanatic77outdoors Thanks for your idea of printing my own as well, appreciated . Shocking that a company like that would cut corners in quality. Let's hope they change that someday.
Hello ZF77. New zippo fan here. I was wondering what you thought of those metal zippo gaskets on amazon. They seem like they'd work better than a standard felt pad or sandwich bag.
@@dr.begarius1957 hey bud welcome to the zippo community. First off nothing beats the sandwich bag. Tried tested and true. I do not use any gasket because they all suck. Sandwich bag works every time. Gets a good deal and is virtually free if u have a freezer bag. Which is what I use. The metal gasket doesnt fit well making it not sealed off. But nubees buy it and think it looks cool so they leave great comments. Don’t be fooled. For the price just get one and enjoy it I say. But I have all different sorts of the gaskets and I’ve stopped using them all. I still just use the freezer bag. The gaskets also are complete nuisance trying to fill. U lift the little door there is a small hole to fill the fluid. Takes for ever and makes a mess. Have access to the whole insert while filling is better for more even cotton saturation. Bag rules everything I’ve ever tested.
@Zippofanatic77outdoors alrighty awesome thanks. I made sure to repack my wick and cotton just as you said in your other videos and it seems to work great compared to the one I messed with fresh out the box.
what are your thoughts on the metal fuel caps for zippos? as I find they look more appealing than the rubber/plastic ones and was wondering if they are worth getting for fuel efficiency
They are meant for zorro inserts. A lot of the comments I see and also reliable people I know that bought them say they don’t actually fit the zippo inserts. They don’t seal off properly. The best thing to do is buy one of the zorro inserts that come with it. Then they actually fit. I also don’t even use a gasket because the big pain in the but it is to fill it. Tiny little hole takes longer. I like having access to the whole bottom of the insert for a more even fuel distribution. Also I only use the freezer bag technique it’s in all my fluid zippo inserts I’m using right now. Not gonna beat that.
