Lovely. Your voice and mind synchronize so well that you take me on some kind of hypnotic journey with these maps. Huge map that made me realize how Denmark is so separated into islands. So many bridges connecting them I did not really recognize that fully when I was there long ago. Can see how the Danes really needed to establish their maritime prowess. The yellow nails and blue jumper blend really well together. That needle is magic🙂
One day I'd like to take the ferry from the northern tip of Denmark to Iceland. It stops at the Faroes along the way. I think it would be beautiful to do!
Danish just is a difficult language - we understand 😊😅 so you are forgiven in advance. I look forward to calming down to this video and your lovely voice. I’m currently 37 weeks along in my pregnancy and feeling very heavy and bothered no matter what I do. So ASMR really is a blessing 🥰
As an American of Danish descent, I was thrilled to find this video! I have been trying to learn the language for 30+ years and can confirm that the pronunciation is next to impossible, but you actually did a good job!
You're my favorite new ASMR discovery! Top notch ASMR, lovely accent, and best of all super knowledgeable about all the strange things I'm interested in!(linguistics, geography, history, and especially heavy metal!)
Oh yes, thank you so much! Though I have to say it feels like my knowledge about metal got stuck somewhere 15 years ago haha, who are all these new bands??
Oh my! A video like this has been on my own wishlist to see :D Thank you for doing this and for everything you do. Really love your channel. Your videos have calmed me down so many times
This is the first time I’ve stayed awake long enough during this video to notice that you talked about Low German! As a person of Mennonite descent I’d love to see a video on this topic.
Well, I can say you said Skagerrak and Kattegat right, as my ancestors are from those areas. My last name is the Anglicized version of the northernmost town/city in Denmark: Skagen, which Anglicized is Scoggin, my name! Apparently they’re pronounced exactly the same way (if what I’ve read and watched is actually right and not dumbed down for us tourists!🤣). I’m American but I’d love to hop across the pond and visit Denmark, especially Skagen and Copenhagen (and Germany too-I want to go to Munich and eat a pretzel at Hofbrauhaus! I can’t really drink due to medical reasons but the pretzels look divine!😂) This video was lovely as always! Denmark got me to tear myself away from your fabulous Middle Earth video!
Lovely rendition of my home country. Excellent pronunciation as well. The Roskilde Festival still takes place, 50th time this year, only postponed the last 2 years due to Covid.
Aw thank you! I have to say, Danish is the most intimidating language I've come across so far. It's so nice to hear that Roskilde still takesplace. I remember it being shown on MTV in the 90s and it looked like the coolest place in the world to me.
@@MelangeASMR That's fine, if you just pronounce it with silent d's and g's, you basically have it all perfect. Germanic languages are similar and easy to learn in my opinion. Like when I learned German pretty easy as a Dane, because there were close similarities.
You make it sound so easy haha The funny thing is I can understand some written Danish, since it's so close to Norwegian, but when I listen to it, not a chance. I do think the sounds are quite challenging.
Honestly, your pronounciation of the Danish words is actually quite good. I'm Danish myself (from Aalborg), so I should know. When you pronounce "Skagerrak" the g is soft, almost silent, so it's more like "Skaerrak" and in the word "fjord", the d is silent. Other than that, it's fine👍
Aah thank you, I'm glad to hear that! Honestly, I watched one video on the silent d and how to pronounce it and knew it wasn't going to happen 😅 But apparently the Germanic background did help somewhat, at least haha.
German, English and French, plus some beginner Italian and Norwegian. I like starting with new languages, though, because the early stages are just so satisfying 😅
That's kind of you to say! I honestly fumbled my way through the video with a mix of German and Norwegian. There was one video I watched in preparation, on the pronounciation of the soft d in Danish, and I just gave up after that haha. No chance 😅 US has been requested a couple of times recently, I'll make sure to add it :)

I think the only thing you'd have needed to make a non butchered danish sounding pronounciation would be to try not articulating g and d at the end of sylables. Otherwise fine, although slightly swedish sounding.
Yellow nails and blue jumper - I see what you did there, Melange
#freeukraine 🇺🇦
Nice spot, if it's true 🌟 but in general, yellow and blue go really well together. I also love blue and black as a combination, and black and gold.
Clearly a dig at the danes by including the colors of sweden
@@squal6216 Thought the same XD
Your knowledge of history and geography is mind blowing. On top of that you have the most melting voice. Brilliant.
I’m glad you appeared on my youtube suggestions! I absolutely love map tracing videos and specially if it’s soft spoken!! Loved the video
Sounds like a match 🥰 Hello and thank you for subscribing!
This is the best and most relaxing and most interesting ASMR out there

@DanishVlog Just bringing you back to this video and your comment! a possible blast from the past : )

Thank you for this very interesting video, Mélange. ( Crinkly maps and pointy sticks are my favorite asmr sounds 😀) Lovely nail polish too.
Yay more map content from you, pretty much my favorite thing on the internet

Fantastic video concept, and the pronunciation was actually pretty good :)
Great video - greetings from Copenhagen, Denmark💪🤩❤️🇩🇰

Your videos are always so informative and relaxing. You really bring these places to life. Thank you!! ❤️❤️

Thank you! Will do, it'll just take a bit :)
Such a pretty nail colour 🤩

Not been able to keep up with all of your videos lately, but this one is lovely!
As a dane, I can say that you did the pronunciation really really well
Another gem
A street would be gade. Katte does mean cat, that was right, but gat is the anus of a lot of animals. So its more of cats anus.
13.15... goes within 10 minutes of my house. Didn't expect that in one of your videos.
I love your videos! Do Finland as well! 😎
Yesss, the list would be incomplete without Finland!
Good video👍 Quick tip, the g’s and the d’s are silent if they aren’t the first letter in the word.
I appreciate the tip, but I think me and the Danish language don't really have a future 😅

German, English and French, plus some beginner Italian and Norwegian. I like starting with new languages, though, because the early stages are just so satisfying 😅
Can u do the map of Norway ones?
Will do, but it'll take a few weeks before I get to it :)

frieschen? sorry das heisst in norddeutschland plattdeutsch bzw. plattdütsch
