@hisaustralianvoice I didnt know what a Chook was until Kath and Kim. I always thought they were saying "Turkey", lol. Because I've heard some accents pronounce rhe "Tu" as a "Chu" sound. Kinda like Tuna/Chuna, so I always thought she was saying Churkey 😂😂💖
@@hisaustralianvoice, it's American TV and it's "Whose Line is it Anyway", 4 comedians doing improv for a variety of scenarios. . .really a funny show, I highly recommend!
Not sure if it's an Aussie thing or a you thing - I had never heard 'Straw-berry' pronounced as 'Straw-Brie' until I watched your content. As you yourself say in your videos sometimes - it's an observation, not a criticism! TY for the relaxing content- much love from the UK ❤
I never understood how Americans pronounce buoy as “booey”. Do they pronounce buoyant as “booeyant”? The rest I can just about understand…apart from the missing i in aluminium.
As someone that loves playing around with accents for tabletop RPGs and other voice acting adjacent stuff, vids like this are great! Now if I can just stay awake to see it all…
So what does Australia call (what the rest of the world calls) tomato sauce? For me, tomato sauce is what comes in a Can or a tin, and its usually not sweet. You use it to make pasta sauce, etc. Ketchup is the really sweet and industrial stuff (like the packet you have) 😊really enjoyed the video, quite informative!
Out of all the messed up ways that Americans pronounce things, buoy is the one that I can't get my head around. It's taken from the word boy. And nobody says that something that floats is "booeyant". They'll tart up buoy, but then like you said, will say noogut instead of pronouncing nougat correctly. And Craig always gets me too. For years I used to wonder what this "kreggslist" thing was.

I'm planning on moving to Australia next year. Really excited to hear the Australian accent in its natural habitat hehe. Love your vids!
Thanks!
Good luck staying awake my friend 😂❤
Tell us what the bugs look like 😂
Its actually quite interesting to learn about how other people pronounce and spell words
Thanks!

True
I agree but it's probably due to not uploading for awhile at a time. UA-cam is like that. I'm having a hard time coming back on my channel
Super informative and tingly!! Sooo nice to listen to just before sleep. Great job as usual!
PS: love the audio quality too ❤
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
This is the first video I've come across of yours, and I'm already enjoying it so much! 💗👏🏽👏🏽
That's great, I'm so glad!
Most of these are very similar in the UK too
Interesting, thanks for letting me know!
I’m so stressed because I’m in my final year at University. Thanks for the videos, they’re really calming me
My pleasure!

I love this video! Keep making the awesome videos
Thank you! Will do!
Golden Grahams are easily the best, glad you agree
They are good!
I'm so in love with the accent
As an Australian "drawing" blew my mind i NEVER noticed that
Thanks, that's good to know!
your writing is very good❤🎉
Thank you so much 😀

Thanks and welcome!!
Thanks for the video
No problem!
Very interesting ! I live in the UK where some people call tomato sauce Tommy K !
Interesting!
We do? Never heard that. Must be northern.
New sub hello from Pennsylvania USA 🤙🏽✌🏽
Thanks for subbing!
My knowledge of the Australian Accent is mostly thanks to Kath and Kim references.
That's a great show, and they both have strong Aussie accents!

Ryan Stiles was also on Whos Line....and the name herb is short for Herbert, thats why the H is pronounced. Another great vid!!
That's interesting, thanks for letting me know. I'll have to check out Whose Line...

Interesting, what other pronunciation is there for buoy?! Also an Aussie here 😊
It can also be pronounced as boo-ee

That's true. We do say "Straw-Brie"!

Great video 🤩🤩
Thank you 🤗
OHHH NAAUURRRR
So I just found out that aluminium was originally spelled alumium in 1807, before being changed to aluminum and finally aluminium in 1812.
That's interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Aussies on one hand saying “newgah” for nougat, and then saying “fill-it” for fillet
Choose a language! Lol
Which is funny because American English has those switched. We say “newget” for nougat and “phil-A” for fillet
That's interesting, thanks for sharing!
Yeah, I have always found it bizarre that we (USA) don’t pronounce the “h”in “herb”
Lovely video, thanks!
Yes, it is an interesting difference.
Its really common for kiwis and aussies to pronounce these words🤷
Why do English people add the extra "I" in "Aluminum"?
Or Australian
You should do a google search. I did and found a number of interesting answers.
In the US we also don't use the second "I" in aluminum or was that a whoopsie
We spell Aluminium with two i's in Australia. So not a whoopsie, just a difference.
you sound like whispering voice from back in the day but i believe he was from Wales
Pretty Sure I asked for Pecan Sandies
Most of these are pronounced the same way in Ireland just the accent differs
How you pronounce the word 'stupid" has the same sound as how we pronounce your pencil and eraser brand stabilo
That's interesting, thanks for letting me know.
How’s the Dutch coming along mate?
Good thanks, I'm still practicing / watching learning Dutch videos most days.

We'd call that pasta sauce... Glad you enjoyed the video!
yurrr
It's so odd to me that you pronounce nougat as "noo-gah" but you pronounce fillet (French origin, "fill-ay") as "fill-it."
I’ve heard two people from Aus pronounce my name (Gillian) with a hard G. Perhaps because of the twins Gayle and Gillian 🤷🏻♀️
Thanks for the video 😊
I've heard that too! There's also the name Jillian, which is pronounced with a "J".

That W really bugging me 😬😬
Sorry...

Yes, that's another one.
This is all the same in britain
Okay, thanks for sharing!
Not exactly true.. we don’t say data or garage the same!
@@Connorbravo yeah we do
first
Agree to disagree
Aussies/Brits have cool accents, however if you know linguistics, then you'd know they are just flat out mispronouncing some words.
We're even worse in ireland lol
@@irishjay9485 🤣 I game with a couple Irish dudes. You guys are all hilarious
@@irishjay9485as an American it’s so crazy when I hear an Irish or Scottish person speak and realize they’re speaking the same language as me haha
@lumluk hahaha yeah a lot of Americans I meet online on ps5 have not got a clue what im saying. Doesn't help that we speak fast either lol
