ASMR Following the Trans-Siberian Railway to help you fall asleep (soft spoken, map tracing)

- One more map from my trip to London in early summer! This one is a Stanfords map from 1904 of the Transsiberian Railway which was still unfinished at the time. We're mixing it with some newer maps that also show routes running further north like the BAM, the Baikal-Amur-Mainline.
I was a little sleepy myself when we filmed this, and I hope that means it's extra effective and you're all falling asleep within the first 10 min. 😘
If you'd like to have a copy of this map yourself, it's available in the Stanfords online shop (also in sizes A1/A2):
www.stanfords.co.uk/Stanfords...
The book is the Putzger Historischer Weltatlas, Kartenedition.

Audio only version is available on various podcast platforms.
If you'd like to send me a letter (max. magazine size) with a map, for example of your country or city, please address it to:

Oh how nice. I have repeatedly traveled this way, from Moscow to Vladivostok and back. This is a very exciting journey. Thanks to you, I again recalled all the beautiful and majestic views of the nature of my homeland. I can’t fall asleep, because it is unusually interesting and pleasant. But after watching I fall asleep happy! Thank you, beautiful!)
it is one of my travel goals to make this journey, hopefully I will be able to in my lifetime 🤞
The French whisperer ASMR also has a trans Siberian railway episode. It’s one of my favorites!
It sounds so beautiful! I'd love to take that trip some day as well.
Thank you for sharing 💛
Fun fact: Russian trains actually have detachable axle gears on all locomotives and cars. There used to be (maybe still exists) a Russian train connection between Berlin and Moscow which you could take to then proceed on the Trans-Siberian route. The trains would go from Berlin to the Belorussian border town of Brest. Right before the station of Brest, there is a looong wheel changing depot that the trains would go in and the cars would be pushed up a few at a time (with all passengers sitting inside), their wheel sets would be changed from the European to the Russian standard track gauge and then move on. Also, the Trans-Siberian is always very punctual. It arrives and departs precisely at the scheduled time without failure.
Nowadays, Russia is building the Northern Latitudinal Railway in their arctic region. A project, that was planned but couldn't be realised since the Monarchy times, but eventually is under construction now. With its 700+ km, it is part of a greater infrastructure development plan of the Russian Arctic and by its completion next year, would connect the towns and settlements of the gas-rich Yamal region to the rest of Russia's railway network.
What a great history lesson reading this was! Thank you for sharing
That's super interesting! I didn't know about the project through the Arctic, that's fascinating.
Greetings from Siberia, Russia. thanks for the video! ❤
💛
Unreal how much distance it covers, not to mention the terrain challenges. What a feat. Very cool.
Plus the conditions under which it was built, it's impressive that it got finished at all.
Im from Volgograd, and I have relatives in Siberia. I have always dreamed of coming by train to them, as well as visiting Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and getting to Vladivostok itself. But so far I haven't left the south beyond the Ural Mountains. I will definitely visit all the places and Baikal in the future
Yeah, I feel like long trips like that can be difficult to fit in, but I'm sure it will be worth it!
Great map and info. I did this trip in winter 1983, from Khabarovsk, because Vladivostok was closed to visitors. Would love to have had a map with this level of detail. The train ran on Moscow time, I think, which was a bit confusing though it makes sense to have a standard.
I've been casually reading short literary works of Tolstoy, Pushkin & Chekhov over a few months now. Their work captures the 18th & 19th century landscape, society, culture & lives of the people of the region in fascinating detail. Seeing the map, listening to you explain the past of this vast, largely unexplored, country fills me with wonder. I wish history had unfolded differently for them, nations were friendly and things were peaceful now.
How timely! I'm actually going to take the Trans-Siberian route in three days from now, coming back from Amur Oblast, where my grandma's living, to Saint Petersburg. Although I am going to switch to the plane halfway through.
Also, fun fact: my great-grandfather moved to the Far East with his family specifically to work on building the BAM route, so thanks for mentioning it :) I think he was working on Trans-Siberian route before that, too, but I'm not sure about details - both he and my grandpa (his son) are long gone.
Thank you so much for this video! Recently I've been watching your stuff one after another, because all of your videos are so curious and soothing at the same time. It must take a lot of work to prepare yourself for filming it, and I'm very grateful for all if your effort.
Oh, by the way - nice pronunciations! You're really doing a wonderful job.
Hey ketiluna, sorry for the late reply. I hope you're having (or had?) a good trip and get home well!
How cool to hear about your great-granddad! That's really impressive that he worked on both. I can't even imagine what the conditions must have been like.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate them and I'm so happy that I've found such a great audience. 💛
i highly doubt he went there voluntarily tho...
Beautifully filmed and beautifully presented as always ..thank you to both of you so much for the effort. I am so relaxed it is crazy 😂
That's what I love to hear, thank you!
Bullseye! I have an 8 hour bus ride to take and you posted this video just in time. Thank you and your crew for all effort you put into that. These kind of geographical maps get me remember lessons on topographic maps at military school.
Have a good trip! I hope the topographic maps were a bit more exciting, at least presentation wise haha.
Thank you, Melange, for this perfect video: the timing, the theme and story, your voice, map tracing..! It’s so relaxing, just what I needed. ❤
Aw thank you, that's really sweet!
Thank you for the great video! Greetings from Vladivostok ❤
Hello, I'm happy you enjoyed it! 💛
I find myself always sad that your videos are not like 2 hours long ❤
Ahaha maybe one day when I can afford someone to read wikipedia and write my notes for me!
@@MelangeASMR that’s fair 🤣
I hate the long asmr videos. You don't need many time to fall asleep or something, and I don't know too much people, who watch these videos for 2-3 hours.
The way you regard your topics reveals so much about your gentle soul. Keep up the great work, Melange!
Another transit-themed video! Thank you so much. I can't wait to dig into this one.
I hope you'll enjoy it! It's really been overdue, considering when I bought the map haha.
Love what you do. Simultaneously interesting & soothing. Please keep it up 🙂
Will do, thank you! 💚
this is a lovely video. The bit about getting the train across the lake was fascinating.
The production quality of these videos is remarkable. The audio is so good and I love how the camera tracks where you are pointing to on the map
I love your map videos. Your wonderful soothing voice, your gentle hand movements and always a unique journey to explore. Thank you very much!!! 🙂😴
💜💜
these videos are uniquely relaxing and engaging. Great for taking a refreshing break/nap.
💜💜
Love love love everything about this. I have a special fascination with train voyages.
Same, 6 days on a train sounds amazing haha, I always feel like the train journeys are too short.
This was such a joy to watch and listen to! Chapeaux to all the work you and your cameraman put into these videos - I think it’s my favorite besides the Slavic languages video (though let’s be honest every video is great!)
I hope you have a good day and keep it up 💌
Thank you so much for the kind words! It means a lot 💜
Always brilliant!
Thank you, Ms. 🙏
My pleasure :)
I love to exploring some maps and with your voice this is so cool.
You are gem of ASMR :D
Such a lovely video, once again and as always ❤ simply perfect 🥰
💜💜
Excellent job! Really love your video!😊 Very original idea with maps!
Thank you, I'm happy to hear you liked it!
I love railroads and train travel. For complete immersion, there were not enough sounds like "tu-tu! choo-choo-choo-choo-choo-choo-choo-choo! Woo-woo!" 😆
Ahaha I tried to get all the choo-choos out before we started recording!
When you run your hands over the map it’s like nectar for my ASMR ❤this is so interesting a subject as always. Thank you 😊
Aw thank you, your comments are so sweet! 💜
@@MelangeASMR that’s because you’re very good 😊
Ah, the most amazing railroad I’ll never get to ride on because of geopolitical issues beyond my control 🥲.
Such an amazing video, at least I have your fantastic video to help me imagine it.
This is one of my favorite maps you've done. And that's saying a lot, because I love maps and I can tell you do too.
Thank you 🙏 The map is stunning, it deserves that extra love!
I could not up-vote this any quicker. Your voice and tone are sublime.
Thank you! 🙏
This is exactly what I needed after work and the gym. It's started to get quite hot here now and trying to sleep during the day has been challenging so this will knock me right out
I can imagine, it's difficult enough sleeping at night during heat waves. One thing I've found helpful is putting a damp towel around my feet to cool off a bit (but you probably already know all kind of sleeping tips lol).
Sleep well! 💛
@@MelangeASMR I haven't tried the feet thing but I'll give it a go! Thanks for the tip.
I absolutely melt when you use your fingers for tracing. Unmatched for sure.
Aw thank you!
I've had Corona for a few days and have struggled to sleep, but damn, I finally nodded off to this video! Enjoyed a whole 4 hours sleep until was forced awake again by pain.
Thanks for the brief respite :P
Also, you seem like you'd be a fascinating person. Would you ever consider doing a Q&A for a subscriber count special? I totally understand the desire for anonymity though!
Oh no, sorry to hear about Covid-infection. I hope you're feeling better by now! 🧡
You're not the first to ask about a Q&A haha, I did one on the community tab in summer:
ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxV-Pr6qUny6QJ-_NwHvE-zIcrlJVEk4kq
But if there's anything else you want to know, ask away :)
That map is gorgeous 😍 thanks for another amazing video 🙏💆♂️🧘♂️🛌
You're most welcome, thank you for the lovely comment! And I hope you had a good night's sleep :)
Ohhh! Thanks for interesting travel 😌 Novosibirsk is my native city 💙 So nice to hear about it.
I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊
Your videos are so amazing! I think you’re going to get a huge following.
Thank you, Salinka, you're too kind!
Absolutely beautiful. As usual x
Thank you!
I really like the content and the delivery, interesting and relaxing :)
I also like your nails
Thank you so much, Kirk! Love to hear it.
There are many different types of ASMR on UA-cam. But for this style, she is the best by far.
That's very kind, thank you!
The quality of the filming here was awesome, whoever is operating the cameras did a great job
Couldn't do it without him! And he was very happy when he read your comment :)
This was a great video. You have the most relaxing voice. Even more important, I enjoy learning new and interesting things from you. This was a great topic, as I've always been interested in this marvel of engineering. You use some great maps, and I enjoy the way you film your videos. Many things in the world are chaotic, so finding a channel like yours, that promotes peace and tranquilty, is a blessing. Thank you and have a wonderful week. Oh just as a possible topic, I've always had an interest in the eastern european nations. Maybe a video on Poland or the Baltic States?
Thank you for the kind words, Keith, I really appreciate it! I haven't done anything specifically on Poland or the Baltic States, but if you scroll back a bit through the videos, you'll find one on Veliky Novgorod and also ones on the Finno-Ugric and Slavic languages, so something roughly in the area. Maybe they'll be interesting to you :)
This video is awesome!! It cures what ails me!! By the way, I have looked at many different ASMR producers and she is #1.
💛
I love your map videos..... Actually I believe I've watched almost all your videos... Great job... keep em coming... Would love some more USA vids....
Oh, that's great to hear, thank you! A subscriber sent some maps of the US which will hopefully arrive soon :)
In no particular order, I 💙 the accent, the soft spoken voice, trains, the ring, and of course those hands, which, IMO, could pass for those of a professional hand-model.
Ahh you're too kind, thank you!!
Very cool topic
Such a relaxing video 😴 I have been looking forward to it all week! 😊 How long does it usually take you to research/prepare for a video?
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! :) It depends a bit on the topic, but in general I count one day for preparing and filming.
I was very sleepy and than i saw this video was uploaded - all tiredness went away
Whaaaat, it should make you extra tired!
@@MelangeASMR but it was so interesting 😀
It was like reading michael strogoff of Jules Verne all over again. Thank you 😊
Ich brauche das Video unbedingt auch auf deutsch!😄 Dein Akzent macht das total entspannend ☺️
Haha gern, das ist sowieso ein guter Kandidat für das deutsche Video dieses Monat.
One of my bucket list items is to ride this rail and stop in all the cities along the way
Fingers crossed!
this was the dream trip for our honeymoon in 2016 but we didn't have enough vacation days to make the trip worthwhile🥲(we went to Japan, which was the most amazing destination lol, it was a great change!). I still hope I can hop on that train someday, although presently going to Russia looks ....complicated. Very relaxing video as usual !
PD: thank you for the link to the shop!! It looks like the perfect place to get my dad a Christmas present!
I wish your dream come true🌟
Hey Francisca, sorry for the late reply. Fingers crossed that you can still take that trip a couple of years from now! Though Japan sounds pretty amazing too. I hope you had a great honemoon there too.
Oh, hope your Dad likes the map!
Yay more Melange
Informative and relaxing video as always! This is random, but I just noticed my hands look almost exactly the same as your hands and now I can’t unsee it, haha. I’m American, but my family originally emigrated from Germany in the 1800’s.
Oh, that's really cool haha, I feel honoured! Hallo, hand-cousin 👋
Love the videos! I just thought, maybe a 3D topographical map would be cool!
Thank you! And true, a 3D one would have been perfect for this video. Unfortunately I only have one for Europe.
Alaska is not mentioned as a russian territory in the atlas. But it was for some period and became american in the reign of Alexander 2.
True, that's a good point. It's marked on the maps on North-American history.
Danke! Das war wunderbar 😊
Das freut mich sehr, danke dir!
Greetings from Vladivostok
Hi there!
Great
Can’t wait to watch this tonight! I’m heading to Vienna this weekend, do you have any top recommendations for this time of year?
Good question, what are you looking for? All I can think of right now is the traditional "Ganslessen" this time of year lol - roasted goose (if you eat meat, of course). The Christmas markets won't be open for another two weeks or so, it's a bit too early for those.
@@MelangeASMR Definitely any food recommendations! We’ll be checking out one of the (less touristy) coffee houses you mentioned in an old video. 😊 I’ve been recommended a classical concert, do you have a recommendation on where to see one? I’ve seen a few places
For classical concerts, the obvious one is the Musikverein because it's such a beautiful venue: www.musikverein.at/
The Staatsoper might already be sold out but have a look anyway (During the break, it's possible to go out on the rooftop, and after an opera it's customary to have sausages from the Bitzinger Würstelstand behind the building, next to the Albertina - try the Käsekrainer!): www.wiener-staatsoper.at/en/season-tickets/events/
And then there's also the Konzerthaus which I personally really love. On Sunday there's a concert with the Wiener Sängerknaben, for example: konzerthaus.at/calendar
Apart from Ganslessen, it's also mushroom time! Semmelknödel (white bread dumplings) with mushroom sauce is one of my favourites when it comes to traditional cuisine. It can be a bit heavy tho when the dumplings are fried lol, just a warning. For vegetarian dishes, you can try Krautfleckerl or Käsespätzle.
If you want to try Schnitzel, my recommendation would be Café Anzengruber in Schleifmühlgasse (which is a great area if you're looking for places to eat or drink; Vollpension just across on the other side is a lovely café where grandmas and grandpas bake the cakes, Matcha around the corner is a nice Japanese restaurant; there's also Swing Kitchen where you get vegan burgers, and Zweitbester and Pizza Randale are two of my personal favourites). Other areas you can check out that are not in the centre are Museumsquartier with Spittelberg, Karmeliterviertel (there's a nice market; Schank zum Reichsapfel is a cute little traditional restaurant), and from the university at Schottentor to Berggasse/Servitengasse (I recently went to Gasthaus Rebhuhn, it was excellent).
Ok, I think that's a lot of info for a weekend haha. If you want to know anything else, you can also write to me on instagram :)
@@MelangeASMR this is so helpful and was so kind of you to type all this out, thank you so much!! ☺️
@@hayls14 No problem, hope you have a good time!
🙏
I have been following Daily Dracula - and would love if you go through a map of the locations mentioned in dracula- i know some are real! Perhaps next spooky season :)
I love that idea! Definitely next spooky season - shame it's already over!
Would be really cool if you made a video about Ireland
It's on my list :)
👍👍
I need a 50 inch monitor to read this map. Thank you, it's great. If you have more to tell on the subject a sequel might be warranted....not that I'm trying to tell you how to do your job, Domnișoara Melange.
Ahaha I felt like I might need some glasses for it too, there is so much densely set info on it.
The map will definitely make another occurence at some point :)
How much did the map cost?
I paid 20 £, but you can look up differently priced versions at the Stanfords online shop:
www.stanfords.co.uk/AdvancedSearch?q=map+of+the+siberian+railway
Thanks for Moscow.
🙂😴
Good night!
Which store did you buy these maps from in London?
Stanfords! It's linked in the description.
Travelling from Moscow to Pyongyang. The train journey of doom.
Have you done any ASMR about Croatia 🇭🇷?
I haven't, but I'll probably do one on former Yugoslavia or the Balkan countries in general at some point.
:)
😊
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You mean to tell me this entire Siberian railroad is trans??
When ENTPs try to sleep
Did the siberian railway switch genders?
Jk
No but it does switch track gauge!
The trans -Siberian will never be a real Siberian.
I stand with Ukraine 🇺🇦
🙏❤️🔥🥰
1 Thessalonians 4:11 To make it your ambition and definitely endeavor to live quietly and peacefully, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we charged you,
12 So that you may bear yourselves becomingly and be correct and honorable and command the respect of the outside world, being dependent on nobody [self-supporting] and having need of nothing.
13 Now also we would not have you ignorant, brethren, about those who fall asleep [[g]in death], that you may not grieve [for them] as the rest do who have no hope [beyond the grave].
14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will also bring with Him through Jesus those who have fallen asleep [[h]in death].
15 For this we declare to you by the Lord’s [own] word, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord shall in no way precede [into His presence] or have any advantage at all over those who have previously fallen asleep [in Him [i]in death].
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud cry of summons, with the shout of an archangel, and with the blast of the trumpet of God. And those who have departed this life in Christ will rise first.
17 Then we, the living ones who remain [on the earth], shall simultaneously be caught up along with [the resurrected dead] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so always (through the eternity of the eternities) we shall be with the Lord!
18 Therefore comfort and encourage one another with these words.
lovely hands 😍
Thank you 😊
