    I think it would be cool to get that deep etch with 500mm/min @ 100% then do a resin or epoxy fill on the marble. Great vid! Thanks!!

      @Vintauri  Рік тому

      That could be something fun to play with. I'd want to be careful not to have to sand down the epoxy to where you end up re-polishing the marble as well.

      @@Vintauri Mask it, engrave, fill as close to surface as possible, then sand down to the masking?

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  Рік тому

      Yeah there are some tricks like that to help prevent scratching the surface. Or if you do not need it flush you could fill the epoxy just up to the edge fo the engraving without spilling over.

    I just did something similar on a buy from Aldi. I only engraved on the wood section but it came out great. And I would not worry too much about the wood being unsafe for food. As long as it is washed and treated occasionally with some food safe oil (I used butcher block oil which had the added benefit of darkening the engraving just a touch). It is really no worse than an edge grain cutting board.

      You are correct, but I don’t trust people to take care of their cutting boards with proper cleaning and re-oiling. 🫣 That is why I didn’t recommend it.

    Very nice video 🌞 have you tried deep embossing with any success on the white marble or black granite? I want to try it out on my F1 Ultra. Many thanks!

      Not yet but I do have some marble coasters coming to do some tests with my F1 Ultra as well.

    Hey man, great channel! What's the enclosure you're using for your D1?

      Thanks! The enclosure is my own design. I've got a video on it here: ua-cam.com/video/s9-WTAgyG8I/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Vintauri

    I engrave marble and granite all the time.

      Awesome! I've seen a lot of content on granite I was searching to see what others have done with Marble but did not see much on it, so I thought I'd run some tests and share the results.

      Oh, good starting point for me is always 6000mm/m, and 40% power.

      Do you engrave white marble? I find only half of my logo will engrave, any suggestions?

    • @CrisAnderson27
      @CrisAnderson27 7 місяців тому +1

      @michaelbordignon2167 I wash it in black tempera paint. Seems to give me consistent results, and it's water soluble so it cleans up easily.

    Hi there and greetings from germany. I hope you understand my english.
    First: Thanks for this video. Helped me a lot.
    Since last month I’m a proud owner of a xTool D1 Pro with the 20W blue laser and the IR laser. I tried a lot different materials and it worked pretty good.
    So I watched your video because I wanted to know how it works with marble. Well, the way I see it it’s better using black marble than white marble.
    But I’m wondering if I can engrave a picture in black marble. I’m asking because I have two dogs. And sooner or later they walk over the rainbow bridge.
    When this time has come I wanna bury them in my yard and make a lil gravestone. Marble or some other kinda stone (maybe you have some other ideas).
    Most important thing: I want engrave a picture of my dogs on the gravestone. Have you tried to engrave pictures? Or maybe someone else who is reading this? Has someone tried to engrave other kinds of stones like granite?

      I've done more photorealistic images on slate and the same theory would apply to dark marble but I would find a stone without a lot of contrasting colors in it to make the photo pop. I'm hoping to source some scrap marble one of these days to do more testing.

      @@Vintauri hi there. would a Xtool f1 ultra engrave on a granite slab?

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  6 місяців тому

      @@franzcronje3024 Yes it should in either the blue or IR lasers. I've not tested this but I'll see if I can find another sample of granite and do some playing around.
