(Updated: May 2021 - I have tweaked this formula over the years and it is now the perfect consistency even as it sits in the bottle in your shower overtime! I will NOT harden!)
    Ingredients:
    1 Cup Coconut Oil 🥥
    1/2 Cup Shea Butter 🧈
    1/2 Cup Olive Oil 🫒
4 tbsp Aloe Vera gel 🌱
4 Cups Liquid Castlile Soap 🧼
    Instructions:
    1. Melt coconut oil and Shea butter on low heat
    2. Remove from heat
    3. Pour melted oils into glass container
    3. Add olive oil & aloe vera
    4. Add in Castile soap
    5. Blend with hand blender TIL creamy white
    6. Transfer to pump dispenser and ENJOY!

Great video. Question: could the Shea butter be substituted for cocoa butter instead, and the coconut oil with lanolin oil? I’m allergic to Shea and coconut oils. Also can I use a whisk instead of a handheld blender? Thank you

Thanks!!! Yes you can but you need to play around with the ratios. I think cocoa butter is a harder consistency so if you were to substitute it with cocoa butter I would either up the Castile soap ratio or put less cocoa butter.
In regards to the Coconut oil replacement. I don’t know about lanolin oil since I haven’t used it before. But you could replace it with olive oil or almond oil.
And yes you can use a whisk or blender if you don’t have handheld.
      Hope this helps 😊

It does liquify after a while. I wonder why. It never maintains the thickness.

Hi Maria, thank you for the recipe. Can we also use it as a shampoo? I suppose the ingredients for shampoo are pretty much the same..

Are you 100# sure it won’t split, solidify or spoil/mould ? I’m confused how both the oil and water mixed together here 💭 🤔

Whats the shelf life for this

I make a big 32oz bottle for the kids and it can last for 6+ months. If you planning on making extra and storing it in the cupboard while you work on finishing one bottle, don’t do it!!
Because this formula is all natural it needs a good shake every time you use it in the shower. Therefore that extra bottle your keeping in the cupboard will harden overtime (if not shaken).

I revised the recipe for a better consistency. The written recipe in the description is the one to follow.

      Ok...thanks 😊
And if we want to add preservatives for long shelf life ...then what is the percentage to put?

    • @MariaLieu
      @MariaLieu  3 роки тому +1

I’ve never added preservatives before. But I make a 16oz bottle and it sits in my shower for over 4 months and no issues.
