Thank you for sharing. I love simple, limited ingredient recipes. I almost always use honey in my body washes. I love it! It has helped my skin tremendously. Depending on if it's winter or summer I use coconut oil and fractionated coconut oil, as well.
I just finished a diy body gel I made using a different recipe. It was nice, but I’m looking for a different scent and more lather. I can’t wait to try this one!
Hi Sara 😊 Hello from Oregon! I'm excited to get your book AND make this shower gel! I already have the Castile soap, essential oil and yes, I will definitely use the honey in this recipe 👍🍯 I'm brand new to your channel so I just wanted to thank you for this recipe and wish you well 😊
Thank you so much for sharing this! I just combined this method with a recipe I found for creamy body wash (incorporating shea butter and a fast absorbing oil) and it came out so rich and exactly the texture I’ve been hoping to duplicate!
This is by far the best body was I’ve ever made. It soaps up perfectly and I did the flowery scents and it smells amazing. Thank for sharing. I subscribed and am looking forward to more great DIY products.
Thank you for sharing mine did not work with table salt it would not dissolve it boiling hot water, which I thought was very weird. So I tried sea salt which worked much better. It started clumping after adding the Castile soap, so I used mixer. It was a little more watery than I thought but soaped up really well in the shower.
@@susylopez9308 Hi! When I tried using Kosher Salt the first time I made this it clumped up like crazy. But when I used table salt it came out perfect. So yes, the type of salt makes a big difference in my experience. You might be able to just add some water back to your recipe and shake it up to make it work again.
@@MyMerryMessyGermanLife No. I tried adding water, table salt but it turned into a lard consistency. I ended up whipping it up and using it as a whipped soap Lol. I didn’t want to waste product. would love to add epsom salt, i need to find a way. I did make it with table salt and it came out perfect. Take salt is definitely the right ingredient.
Exactly what I was searching for thank you so much! Also, in the video you mentioned you would put links to some pre-made all natural soaps from amazon in the video description but I can't seem to find them, would love to know if there are still any body washes on amazon you would recommend.
Can’t wait to try this recipe! I’m just now discovering Castile soap and all its uses! I was wondering how long this is good for sitting in the shower? I made a honey scrub before and realized after about a week it would get a different consistency so started making smaller batches. I was also wondering if it stays emulsified or tends to separate? I used to make hand soap and it would always separate from the water I could never get it to stay bonded. Thank you!
Hi & thank you for this video!!! I will definitely make it with the honey. I was looking for a DIY for an exfoliating hemp eucalyptus gel when your video popped up so… could this be made with thicker salt for exfoliating? & just add hemp seeds? Or is salt too rough? Thank you!!!
Hello, I used the recipe exactly like in the video except, Your printed recipe called for a carrier oil- I used sweet almond. I tried it on my hands and they are very DRY. Did I do something wrong? Should I add something because I am AA (dark)? Maybe the aloe vera?
Hey, I just followed your recipe and made this shower gel . I did not have the aloe vera but I did add the honey. I live in India and I had got the lemon essential oil from online. Even after adding 8 ml to this , it smells of caustic soda, not of lemon🍋.can you please suggest something to make it smell more lemony? What about adding natural citric acid or lemon zest?
Is the water in your recipe plain tap water or distilled. Also, would I add Leucidal liquid sf or vitamin E oil for preservative? Enjoyed your video...thanks so much!
You made this the other day and it came out extremely thick actually it was too thick to use. So I just experimented add extra Castile soap and vegetable glycerin then use my whipping blade to whip some air into it I loved the way it came out.
That was smart! Yeah these DIY recipes don’t always work the same for each person. I’m thinking it may have something to do with hard and soft, but I’m not sure.
Love your recipes! I’m fairly new in making my own products, but would like to know if it’s necessary to use some type of preservative in this recipe? Thank you much .
Hi Joanna! If you want to add some rubbing alcohol to it you could. Also natural preservatives are sold on Amazon if you'd like to try those. But I've not had it go bad, even after a month or so.
Since water and oil don't mix, you should use a preservative even though honey is a preservative on its own but not when mixed with many other ingredients. There are many natural preservatives that you can use (optiphen for example) because it can mold.
Careful with ylang ylang! It DOES cause headaches in some people. So, if you start getting headaches after using it, stop and use a different floral! That said, it’s also excellent for hormone balance and as an aphrodisiac… a very strong one!

Sure! I've not ever added turmeric to my beauty recipes - it'll likely color your shower or bath yellow and might be hard to clean. I would use dried rosemary, lavender, eucalyptus, chamomile, rose - something like those!
I was wondering if you have tried this recipe using other types of salt? Like pink Himalayan salt. I did try the recipe using pink Himalayan salt and it didn't thicken like a gel. My salt was fine and fully dissolved. I'll give it another try using the same salt you shared. Just wanted to see if you happened to test the recipe with other salts.
