      I've tried to watch F1 recently, but after getting hooked on IMSA and WEC, there's just no going back. It's a much more level playing field for privateers, yet factory teams can go nuts and throw down a few hundred million if they like in WEC's LMP1 class, and it's still an amazing race. Well, 4 amazing races. Oh, and F1 races aren't posted online.

      @m0dD3rLP 5 років тому +2

      It was a great, if mostly uneventful, race. However, I feel in competitive sports nobody "deserves" to win. 67 was upset to have been leading for so long and not be in front at the end, so he made a low percentage dive. Watch the replay, at most he had a quarter panel on the Lamborghini before he hit the inside curb on the wrong side. The Lamborghini had already committed to a line, and the wrong side of the curb likely helped spin the back end of the 67 around when he tried to accelerate.

      I think Bobby would mop the floor with Chip, and I think Chip knows it. One lap around Sebring, that's all. No need to drag out the humiliation, or the physical exhaustion for the old guys. Use TCR's or GT4's or something cheap in case they wreck. Loser donates something to a charity picked by the winner. I think a lot of fans would kill to see that race!

    5:12:30 Why did that GTD car pull to the right like it was trying to block that prototype? He would have known it wasn't another GTD car because the headlights weren't yellow. Plus the upcoming corner was a right so he wasn't trying to set up for that turn since he was already on the perfect line for that. I thought he may have been going right , preparing to enter the pits but he didn't go to the pits either.

      At least separate the GT classes during restarts in the last 30 minutes of the race. Having to dodge around the GTD field is part of the race, and I like it, but that close to the end it feels like it just gets in the way of a meaningful finish for the faster classes, and the GTD cars get screwed because they can't race each other with all the faster traffic barreling through.

    What in the world knocked the 57 back to 8th in GTD in that last 8 minutes?
    Also, Andy Lally must have been seething after this race. Two stints breathing the exhaust of the 11 without finding a way past, and constantly getting shuffled apart by the DPi and GTLM cars overtaking them... A 2nd is still a great result but the champagne always tastes better on the top step...
    Great racing as always. The new golden age of North American sports car racing continues.

    This is the first IMSA race I watch and it might be the last. It could have been really interesting if the camera crew weren't so bad at showing us the action. GTD was a constant battle for the lead, with the leader changing every couple of laps, but all we got to see instead were totally uneventful pit stops and the same 3 Cadillac DPi's driving around alone or doing some overtakes. What is this, a race or a 12 hour long Cadillac ad?

They are posted by FIAWEC. Go to their channel and you'll see everything is there.
      @Willy Jimmy - don't kid yourself. This is not commercial-free. How long did Johnny O. talk to us about how awesome Cadillacs are? He is their paid spokesman. How many times did you hear tires referred to as Michelins instead of tires? That's all paid for. Think of all the branding around the track and on the cars. We accept that because it makes motorsports viable. I accept it. It's a fair deal. Sponsors are necessary, but we consumers need to be aware of when we are being sold something. And whenever a rep from Michelin or some other sponsor "drops by" for a chat, that is a commercial interruption of the commentary, and a long one at that. I don't think WEC races have those kinds of interruptions. Like every driver says during every interview at least once, it is what it is.

      Keiran George The problem isn’t the racing itself but the the tv directors and cameras missing on action and overtaking and lack of replays. They’ll go back and forth between certain battles happening or showing the leader in a class but they miss a change for position between one battle when they were just showing that particular battle a few moments before but missed the overtake. I that’s always been the issue when watching IMSA over the years.
